Does anyone think they are waiting to announce Buxton's appearance as a last-minute sell tickets push for TwinsFest? I've been watching the appearance list like a hawk waiting for the news of him coming, but I haven't seen him pop up and he is really the only mainstay on the roster not confirmed so does anyone have inside knowledge of the dude is coming?

  • He’s been posting a lot of pictures of his travel baseball team / Brix batting highlights.

I would not be surprised if he’s going to spend his weekends before spring training coaching youth baseball.

  • He's already playing in the WBC so he might be limiting his extra-curriculars this spring to maintain a reasonable work/life balance.

  • I doubt it. If they knew he was coming it wouldn’t make sense to announce it at the last second if the goal is to sell tickets.

  • That would be cool. Long ago when I was very young the Twins Caravan was coming to my town and I remember that Randy Bush had to cancel last minute and they replaced him with Kirby Puckett. It was pretty sweet.

What a decision, and he then went onto become our shining star. I heard he was great with people and kiddos.

Are autographs and photos free at the Caravan stuff we have it rolling through my area in two weeks

  • He never seems to enjoy the fan experience. I’m not shocked.

I've heard he's great just away from crowds. He's a guy who seems to like to chat. And these things aren't built for chatting.

He was there last year which surprises me

TwinsFest isn’t built for chatting? That’s all they do for 8 hours. Chat in autograph lines, chat on multiple stages, chat in suites. TF Live is the same.

FWIW, I think the best TwinsFest experience is the afternoon autograph sessions with minor leaguers.

Many of them are just happy that 15 people showed up and will spend their time chatting with anyone that walks through the door.

But to be "on" for 8 hours is exhausting. And usuall chatting it is a matter of hey how are you 1000 times not talking more in depth about moves, strategy, etc.

Celebs doing appearances like this is tough because it's not 8 hours of classic socializing. It's 8 hours of come in, say hi, and leave. Not real engagement

The point is, he isn’t a people person. It’s fine that he isn’t too.

I don’t know that Buck isn’t a “people person” but it is kind of surprising that he does seem pretty shy around strangers. After so many years playing in front of crowds you would think he would be a little more outgoing, but that’s just not who he is.

    (And that is perfectly okay.)

That's good to know, cause if I ever see him it will make me more brave to say hi

I mean he's just a dude. A lot of people are quite cool about it as long as you treat them with respect and respect their privacy if they're like hey I don't really have time to be Star Center Field of the Minnesota Twins right now because I'm with my kids or something

Yeah that's what I mean. I'm always reluctant to talk to people I recognize because they deserve their peace. But knowing that he's chatty and seems to enjoy talking people makes it feel it wouldn't be too intrusive to just say hi (while respecting boundaries of course)

I've never heard of stories of these guys out and about town. I know they are, but I've never heard oh Buxton goes to my church, or he shops at my Cub

To be fair, Buck is only a “resident” about 12 weeks of the year when the Twins have home games. I’m sure during that time he has people out shopping for him.

Other than that, it’s on the road, in Ft. Myers or at home in Baxley.

True. He very well could or maybe it's something his wife and the kiddos like to do. I know a lot of big celebrity family sometimes make a big thing about trying to live a completely normal life however possible. And if some of them want to go grocery shopping that's their way of doing it.

I doubt Edwards are Naz would but I've heard normal non-famous spouses like doing stuff like the grocery shopping or being able to go out.

Jose Miranda apparently did the Target shopping.

I heard that. I don't blame him. Supposedly that's why people love Minnesota is that we're pretty cool about celebrity in general. I have a colleague that has the story about back in the day she was at a mall and casually walked by Janet Jackson then after the fact someone told her do you realize you just walked past Janet Jackson.

All she thought was it was just a pretty lady. Not realizing it was Michael's sister

Let a man dream in the off-season!

  • With the WBC coming, I would skip it to chill before travel if I were him.
