It looks worse than it is. It’s just track, if anything she’s got a mild brush burn. Or if it’s the crumbly material, a brush burn with little pieces of rubber on her arm.
As someone who used to run competitively, I bet it would be a whole lot more comfortable and easier to run if they did not have to pull a thin piece of fabric out of their ass crack constantly. Those are some of the shittiest running outfits I’ve ever seen
There are no such rules on professional level that don't allow shorts for women. It's due to their national/club athletic organization to provide athletes with clothing and it can be in agreement with personal preferences.
I believe the countries them selves pay the athletes for its more lucrative in some than others. The usa last time I checked does not pay there Olympians to win.
I would geuss most of the money these athletes make is from sponsorship
The usa gives bonuses to athletes getting medals like gold is 35-40k/medals, silver is ~20-25, and bronze is~15k. Now being from Hong Kong is like in usd 700-800k for gold. 300-400k for silver and 100-200k bronze.
I did a little contract work for an athlete. Some of them raise some money on their own GoFundMe style; just doing local events to get the citizens in their own town to sponsor a local Olympian.
With women’s running normally you have a choice between spandex shorts (very very short shorts) and the bikini style. The shorts ride up into the crotch area and become really uncomfortable so a lot of women prefer the bikini. That said, I’ve seen a wide range of the bikini bottoms - some are more full coverage and some leave your whole ass hanging out. I’d prefer more coverage, personally. I’m not sure how much choice they get.
I don't understand why women are made to perform in these tiny suits. As a person who's attracted to women, it checks a box, but as an adult who understands the world and how sexism presents itself, it's embarrassing and frustrating.
It is not as easy as that - as a lot of people have commented, nowadays athletes often have a choice what they want to wear. You don't necessarily know the reason why they do this. Quite a few athletes use instagram (or even OF) to supplement their income, and she has one with ~130k followers, so maybe that's why. (Don't get me wrong, that's problematic in its own right, but it is not the "someone made her do it"-angle)
Additionally - I don't know about running, but in aquatic diving both men and women choose very skimpy outfits to minimize the impact on the water entry, so they have valid reasons for it.
I watched a video recently of a female athlete who chose to run in this type of running attire. She said that she was actually given a choice of outfits and chose this type of outfit because it was her preference.
So maybe, just maybe let's not get outraged on behalf of another individuals choice. You lot are all too quick to imagine that there's some wicked man behind the scenes forcing women into these outfits, when in reality they more than likely chose to run in it themselves and are quite happy/ would prefer running in clothing that impedes them the least.
In 2021 the Norwegian women's beach handball team refused to wear bikinis and wore shorts instead, which resulted in them getting fined. This happens and it's not all personal choice like you make it out to be.
Volleyball really highlights the glaring discrepancy in how male and female athletics are presented. The male uniform for volleyball is loose, baggy board shorts and a t-shirt but the female uniform is skin-tight short shorts and a sports bra. It’s hard to argue that the uniform for women is intended to optimize performance when the uniform for men is so different.
This is the biggest issue, this shit trickles down to youth sports and acts like a nasty gatekeeper. Young girls playing football and handball in plenty of European countries are forced to wear white, slightly see through shorts despite their outspoken period concerns and preference of darker colours, but some dumb old men in charge don't want to change the rule. Research in Norway has been done to show that women's football teams actually perform worse over enough time playing in white shorts, the hypothesis being that the anxiety of periods showing through impacts play, and players at all ages are talking about it. But nothing has changed.
Yet some idiot on reddit will yap on about "maybe she prefers it this way!" Yes, maybe she does. Doesn't change that she likely doesn't have a choice, or good enough alternatives among choices, and that plenty of women opt out of sports because of said requirements. Let's maybe focus on that?
I used to always think, "these are professional athletes who have to train and compete in these outfits, they must know what's optimal to wear, who am I to question it," but after reading u/cowboynoodless comment I'm staring to realize they only wear these outfits because they have to, its in the rule made by people who never have to wear these outfits.
I was wondering about that. Wouldn’t there be so much friction as your thighs rub together? Like, cyclists all wear long shorts or pants unless they’re doing a triathlon..
I love everyone in this thread who never once ran a lap around a track chiming in and making very strong affirmations on the perceived comfort of an athlete's outfit. Never disappoint, Reddit
As far as I can tell they can wear whatever they want. The Sydney Olympics 400m were won by Cathy Freeman in a full-body suit. All the online discussions about what female sprinters are allowed to wear end up talking about Norwegian volleyballers, so it's kinda hard to find something on the topic.
Ah! I was coming in to ask about this. Apparently the small running underwear is the preferred option, but it looks SO uncomfy. Do some types not involve riding up into the buttcrack? Or do they just accept that for the speed benefits.
(I get my info about it being preferred on other threads about the scanty-ness of women's sports clothing. A lot of runners like these, apparently)
Idk if this will be a useful bit of perspective, or even releveant, but--
I was a (male) ballet dancer for quite some time, which involves wearing a dance belt, which you can visualize as a man-thong. Support in the front, 100% floss in the back.
You get used to it and then it's not uncomfortable at all. So idk exactly about those running bottoms, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not that big of a deal. Though I would not prefer to have to constantly adjust it.
In sports, the different rules for women's and men's attire is consistently weird, and really makes you believe they're aiming to sexualise women as much as possible.
And when women cover up, they get fined. For example in July 2021, the Norwegian beach handball team got fined 1500€ for wearing shorts because they were longer than 10cm, instead of wearing bikinis. What got people talking even more about this incident was the photo of the women's and men's teams where it clearly shows that a human can play beach handball even if they cover their upper body and wear longer shorts, but the rules are different for different genders.
I remember reading about how a volleyball team was protesting having to wear basically nothing in competitions. It's gotta be all the misogynist owners/managers?
I was trying to find a way to word this and found your comment, thankfully. It feels to border on a misogynistic spectacle to give them wedgie-inducing leotards and then film them from the back when they're lining up for a race.
More like Namibia and US. The U20 record is held by Namibia (21,78), followed by US (22,08). Europe's best is 22,19. Wiktoria's record seems to be 23,08.
This competition appears to be during Polish Athelitics Championship.
That was awesome, sorry to see the flop - ouch - I've been there (hah, high school level) - this was a solid group of competitors though, much respect.
The current swimsuit design evolved from leotards and bodysuits. Claire McCardell (a designer) in the 1940s helped bring bodysuit-like garments into mainstream fashion. The leotard was in invented by a man (Jules Léotard) for his own purpose as he performed in a circus.
Nike and Adidas refined the bodysuit for track competition.
Manufacturers promoted the design as "elite" and the enforcement of skimpy designs is done by the sports federations themselves.
The International Handball Federation enforced bikini bottoms up until 2021. Thanks to athletes and some public pressure, the rule was changed. This federation is overwhelmingly male, something like 90% pre-2021. After 2021, it's slighty less at about 80%.
Federations claim performance reasons for the women's outfit but don't enforce it on men. So, as usual, it's down to society's sexualization of women.
Studies in sports sociology and media analysis consistently show that female athletes are sexualized in broadcasts, with outfit design playing a role in how coverage is framed.
Camera angles, commentary, and marketing often emphasize women’s bodies, which has historically correlated with higher ratings and sponsorship interest. I.E.: Beautiful, fit af women in skimpy outfits makes viewership (and therefore money) go up.
Unfortunately it's largely down to the athletes themselves to demand change since the Federations, the sportswear manufacturers and the public seem just fine with things as they are.
In this case I think they try to reduce the material where possible without compromising the athletes modesty. Yeah the men have more material but few years back a male hurdler’s dick kept coming out despite considerably longer shorts than these women have. But in sports like swimming the men are less covered than the women, so it isn’t like they just try to cover up the men.
Both. The clothing aims to be as minimal as possible for aërodynamic and weight purposes. Male clothing is a little bit longer (and just as tight, look at Usain bolt for reference) due to an accident with someones sausage saying hello multiple times.
Source: I am an Athlete who competes on a countrywide level.
Again, they tend to wear as minimal as possible and men just have longer shorts because their one eyed monster has peeked out and greeted audiences before.
I suspect both. Both have opinions for and against sexy appearances in sports.
Some men, thank it's distracting and has no place. Others think it's a great distraction.
Some women think it's forced on women by men and shouldn't be so revealing. Others feel men want to demonize women's body's and it shouldn't be a woman's problem if men get distracted by a women's body.
So they all probably had a say in what you see here.
In Poland witcher books are classic. Polish VC actress that dubbed Yennefer was a psycho fan of hers and kept her quotes in a notes, for example. Everyone knows them.
ed; but I doubt It's this one from the game itself
Genuinely the worst "suits" I've ever seen in my life. Get them some proper running clothes, don't make women wear skimpy, uncomfortable clothing like that.
These things are usually more complicated and there usually aren't men in grey suits dictating things like this. I can't of course speak for the case in OP, but a friend of mine was in a semi-professional volleyball team and they were given options. Most of the women chose the skimpiest possible outfits anyways and then bullied those who didn't into picking them too. It turns out, the women in these sports are usually not the ones ashamed to show off their bodies.
I do wonder how much this precedence keeps women who are a little less happy to show skin to pursue sports in general.
And not to put too fine a point on it, but everyone else on the track was wearing two pieces with better coverage. Pretty sure this was a deliberate choice.
Brother. We are not in the 30s where we force women to wear clothes. They are probably given an option, and they’d probably wear even less if given that chance, have you ever even been to a gym ?!
Full of women with a choice, wearing the skimpiest clothes they could find.
Lane six trip starts at 22.3 seconds, it looks like her right quad gave up. There's a patch on it already. Looks like she couldn't pull her right leg forward any more. Really fucking shit injury for a runner to have.
People keep saying that these outfits are sexualising the runners, but they're purposely designed to make them run faster, since they can't wait to finish the race and change out of them.
As a woman who used to race, the fucking racing outfits are so misogynistic, uncomfortable, and unnecessary. Like why are we running in bathing suits while the men get actual shorts???
I don’t really understand why women’s track sportswear has gotten smaller, and smaller over the years. There’s a certain point where it doesn’t really make much of a difference, and it certainly doesn’t look comfortable.
At age 71 I really feel for the girl who tripped seconds from the finish. I tripped about a month ago and stumbled forward ten feet before going down hard on cement bricks and I still feel the after effects today.
MildlyFunny is the fact that both athletes next to her couldn't finish their race. The one on the right screwed her start and the one on the left fell before the line. Maybe she has some kind of anime aura that keep screwing her oponents run

RIP skin. She slid for half a second on that sandpaper textured surface.
120? That track is at least 60 grit.
It looks worse than it is. It’s just track, if anything she’s got a mild brush burn. Or if it’s the crumbly material, a brush burn with little pieces of rubber on her arm.
Still not fun
The bruise to the ego looks more concerning
Had to re read cuz my blind ass read "she's got a mild bush burn" lol, made me freeze and think how could her bush get burned from falling on track 😂
Lmfao, i read the same thong at first. It made me go back and watch that part again to see how she even managed it.
🤣 Was it on purpose or autocorrect or subconscious? Dunno if you're making a pun with the thong or what lmao
😂
Depends on the track. I ate shit on my HS track and had pretty good road rash.
Our track felt like a grinding disc. I’m glad I never ate shit on it.
The woman on the inside who screwed her start as well.
And the last women in line in black gives up.
I think she knows she messed up cause it appears as though she stops as soon as she's passed up.
Setting up for a Cool Runnings remake but with an all female cast, no doubt.
As someone who used to run competitively, I bet it would be a whole lot more comfortable and easier to run if they did not have to pull a thin piece of fabric out of their ass crack constantly. Those are some of the shittiest running outfits I’ve ever seen

They don't have souls, according to Plato. Also they are all harlots who only think about sex. Ew. Disgusting. Never trust them.
Now... back to my naked oiled men, wrestling one another for hours. Someone fetch my apprentice, tell him I'm horny. That's wholesome entertainment.
(...ancient Greeks were weird, btw, if nobody was aware)
Socrates had some all time gay quotes
Plato wasn't some virtuous saint in modern standards, but he did not say that women do not have a soul, he said that the soul is sexless.
You can quote me on saying that women do not have a soul.
And neither do men.
There's a reason she's wearing full makeup. Definite gold mine in track thirst traps

I watch this post every time it's posted. Idgaf about track and field so case in point

I’m not attracted to women, though I understand the appeal... but she can’t even walk without getting a wedgie..
A sprinter should not have to use fashion tape to keep their clothes from riding up their ass.
Even in the 80s.. with those high cut hips and actual thongs, they wore leggings underneath to keep the thong from.. thonging..
That thong be thong thong thong thong tonginnnnn
As a person attracted to women, i prefer when they seem to be comfortable.

And there's still been 'accidents'.
It doesn’t matter that much. Stretchy shorts would definitely be fine to run.
If this guy can run in shorts, I bet the women can do the same if they chose.

In Poland witcher books are classic. Polish VC actress that dubbed Yennefer was a psycho fan of hers and kept her quotes in a notes, for example. Everyone knows them.
ed; but I doubt It's this one from the game itself
Hell yeah!

Dickolas Cage?
I’m in love

As a woman, I’m pretty gay for her.
Yeah, I’m mostly gay. Mostly.
Save this for the "what non-sexual thing do you find attractive" posts.

ROAR
They're not being made to wear this. There is no rule that prevents them from wearing other running clothes.
Full of women with a choice, wearing the skimpiest clothes they could find.
what's with the home depot ass music playing at the start
Doers get more done.
Royalty free music added by the YouTube channel OP clipped this from.
What’s going on around her? Lane 8 pulls up 5 steps into the race and Lane six has a phantom trip.
Off to the glue factory...
This gave me a good chuckle
Live taishin footage
Lane 8 probably had a bad start and even being just a step or two behind like that is enough to be out of the running at high levels.
Lane six trip starts at 22.3 seconds, it looks like her right quad gave up. There's a patch on it already. Looks like she couldn't pull her right leg forward any more. Really fucking shit injury for a runner to have.
Jesus christ, that is a gorgeous woman
Indeed.
I love butts and boobs BUT im quite sure they can run in other clothes than this.
Nah this is crucial for the sport. 😐
People keep saying that these outfits are sexualising the runners, but they're purposely designed to make them run faster, since they can't wait to finish the race and change out of them.

Why is anyone downvoting this? It's the longer video - gives context, tells who's who and shows the whole thing. Thank you for posting.
It pisses me off so much. And it trickles down to high school and younger.
Why are the women always half naked and the men just get to wear regular clothes
That’s the same sign language my toddler does when he shits his pants
Wait, human sprinters run totally different than Umamusume in the Anime!
The stands are almost completely empty
Came because of the face. Invested because of the cheeks. Stayed because of the race. Shocked because of the fall.
What a day to be alive
Captivated by your story telling ability.
At age 71 I really feel for the girl who tripped seconds from the finish. I tripped about a month ago and stumbled forward ten feet before going down hard on cement bricks and I still feel the after effects today.

Feel bad for the girl that fell. Also rawr!
All of them.... ALL OF THEM ... are moving at amazing speeds. That amount of athletic talent there was astounding. How freaking fast!!! Wow...
The short girl in the middle had two disadvantages.
Someone please give them shorts or something 😭
Why are they still forced to wear those "suits" or whatever they're? Yikes
Everyone here sexualizing her her sexy is that she could beat all your couch sitting asses in anything. Get up and do something!
Why are they all choosing to run in their underwear?
Funny the men wear shorts while women wear basically underwear. Is this mandated still or a choice?

MildlyFunny is the fact that both athletes next to her couldn't finish their race. The one on the right screwed her start and the one on the left fell before the line. Maybe she has some kind of anime aura that keep screwing her oponents run
I’m going to need some women of color next time so I can make an informed decision on her speed.
I'm now a fan of this sport ..
I'm trying to figure out why this has 22,000 likes
