Uuuugh you just reminded me of this. So I was in a second floor apartment until recently, and at one point we got a new guy downstairs. It wasn’t even immediate but a couple of months later and he’s moving furniture in in the middle of the night, for like a week. I never said anything about it.
Cut to me moving out, we had gotten to the furniture moving part, and it was like 11 am on a Sunday. Man had the audacity to come knocking on my door asking if we could keep it down because his daughter was sleeping.

Sure. The incidents weren't all on weekdays necessarily, but I worked hard hours those days, sometimes 6 days a week.
First time, whatever. I let it go because he was just a college kid, and I was basically in his shoes barely five years prior, and up until then had been a decent enough roomie. Also didn't have any idea how long they'd be at it. I learned.
Second time, "hey guys, that's really loud and I need to get some sleep." They turned it down, but I could still definitely hear them talking and I'm pretty sure the volume went back up a couple notches really slowly.
Third time, "Guys, for real. I gotta sleep." "Oh, we didn't see your car and thought you were gone." Uh huh. "Well can you please just do this in your room or something?" "Ok". Proceed to move it to their room, but seemed like they were purposely being louder. Whatever, quiet enough that I could sleep.
I don't recall there being a fourth time. He broke the lease and moved in with one of his other meat head friends. There was other friction besides the TV and pot thing though. Turns out he was just kind of an entitled, somewhat spoiled military brat.

I have one neighbor upstairs and one downstairs that make a lot of noise 24/7 and it's really not nice when people are so inconsiderate. I mean, I don't mind you taking a shower or cooking a meal at night, but I do mind you drilling holes and playing loud music at 7am

My toaster oven beeps! I haven’t heard a regular toaster do it, but usually the ovens do. My husband actually took our old one apart and removed the beep hardware because it was so loud lol

Just hammered the peppermints but it was too wet to do it outside. I did it as efficiently as possible on the bottom of a pot and it was loud as hell but over pretty quick. I'd pass you some if I could reach, but here is the...
Recipe:
1 C butter
1 C sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 C sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 C quick oats (regular rolled oats that are chopped up, DO NOT USE STEEL CUT)
1/4 C finely crushed peppermint candy
(After hammering in double ziploc bags, I grind it up in a wee food processor so it's powdery. DO NOT ADD MORE CANDY POWDER to the recipe even if it sounds nice to be more pepperminty. The cookies will not turn out! Ask me how I know.)
325º Ungreased cookie sheet, better with parchment paper or baking mat underneath, they can be sticky. The original recipe is to make a long roll and cut off in slices, I just drop a spoonful on the tray like any drop cookie. Looking at the recipe it says bake 15 to 20 mins(!) but I think 8-9 minute check and see how done they are. I like them slightly brown on the edges.

A blender works remarkably well for this purpose.
Not whole peppermint candies, they have to be in smaller pieces first, tried food processor and a regular blender would be too hard to get the suff outta the bottom. I don't have the bullet kind or whatever brand blasts granite. Using the round peppermints with stripes and they're like rocks. After they're shattered I put them in a mini chopper and reduce to dust. Candy canes may be slightly easier but I haven't tried em.
A regular Oster blender does a fantastic job of crushing the round candies whole. Just did a large batch the other evening.

Bummer! I was loudly making hummus in the ninja last night, but not while somebody else was trying to sleep in the next room. And the mess I made was worth it for the mass quantities of delicious homemade hummus thay resulted.
I’m saying that it can be handled tactfully unless and until it becomes routine. But call it out—but not while you’re overwhelmed, sleep-deprived etc. some day you’ll laugh together about it if all goes well.

The ONE time I bothered anybody in my dorm with late night activities is when I woke up confused about the time after an afternoon nap, went up to the kitchen and start doing the dishes I was meant to do but didn't in that particular afternoon. I start doing the dishes with my headphones in, calmly moving the plates around.

I have a sibling I share a wall with. So that’s the padding to keep him from waking. Talk to her first. Yes it may be annoying to hear the banging - But noise comes in all forms and it can get worse lol
