Just got back from the hairdresser. Felt a sharp pain on my neck, said ouch and the hairdresser said, "Sorry, did I scratch you?" I said yes, and she said "hmm I don't think so, it doesn't look like it, but sorry". When I get home I had a look and this is what I see. Prettty sure you did scratch me. Suffice it to say I won't be going back there.
I hope this clippers were clean. You’re going to want to watch that.
Disinfect it anyway because even if they were clean when they started, they don't stay that way.
I got a staph infection from a wrestling mat when the barber nicked my neck. 10 years later I get a cyst there which later required surgery.
You could probably file for disability acystance for that
Cease and decyst with the bad jokes.
They already went to the doctor to be decysted.
I tried to read these comments in order cystematically, but they were all benign.
🤦♂️
A staph infection paralyzed me from the waist down.
I got staph from a nick on my neck after bathing in a hospital bathtub. Most painful experience of my life and I’ve had several surgeries.
I saw a dude post on here, he ended up getting herpes (hsv1) on the back of his neck from a cut from the barbers shears.
Clients lip -> next clients neck.
Gross
Man, I cut my own hair because I'm cheap, but now I have 2 reasons. Thank you.
Neck herpes ain't no joke!
Neck herpes ain't nothing to fuck with.
Protect ya neck!
You're gonna give yourself neck herpes!
I just found it easier honestly. Ever since the military I just kept my hair at a 1 or 2. Price aside I didn't want to bother going out when I could do that at home in like 10mins and has the bonus of, for a decent while, I don't need to worry much about combing it after a shower.
True, but the pure ecstasy that is having your head shampooed, massaged and rinsed with warm water in one of those special salon chairs that makes your head dangle behind you can't be beaten. If it wasn't so expensive I would go every few months.
Ditto
My dad also got hsv from dirty shears during a military haircut
That same thing happened in the story I tell my wife.
I got mine from sitting on a tractor.
You're supposed to wait for the other guy to get out of the seat first.
And you call that the tractor story?!
They were watering down the blue liquid? Or let it evaporate so it didn’t cover yhe blade?
New fear unlocked
My son just got a staph infection from his first haircut from something like this.
Jesus Christ. That’s scary as fuck.
I hope he is recovering well.
He's good. As soon as I saw swelling and pink, we were at the doctor
You should always shower immediately after a haircut regardless.
I’ve gotten ringworm from a crappy barber.
I have a trusted barber now that is very meticulous about cleaning his blades between clients.
My kind of people 😂
how op got cut
Butt is a scratch
At least you didn't get ringworm
Yet
yeah just a casual neck carving like it’s a haunted barbershop initiation or something
That must have scared them from finishing the fade at your hairline, cuz it looks like you have a bunch of long hair behind your left ear too 🙃 thats some bad work
The last haircut I got a hairstyles did this to me so I’ve been cutting my own hair ever since. Amazing how I managed to not scratch up the back of my head using mirrors and a buzzer however, a trained professional couldn’t even manage.
This seems to be my finding these days with most services. Home repair, auto mechanic, hair styles, god I would hate to be scheduled for surgery right now!
Was this your hairdresser by chance?
Be sure to grab a pie once you're done. I've heard they're to die for.
And sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll find lady fingers inside
No way, Sweeney Todd is actually good at his job!
He probably tipped
EDIT: and said thank you
I think you meant
https://i.redd.it/48wpgu37l96g1.gif
No they didn't.
Both were skilled, but Edward has no know murders.
I knew they looked familiar..
Are we sure it wasn’t this naughty fellow?
Benjamin Barker…
BENJAMIN BARKER!
whoa whoa whoa...even sweeny todd knew how to properly calibrate his clippers....when he cut people it was on purpose.
I hope their money laundering skills are better.
Crazy that you say that, where I am in the UK over the past few years Turkish barbers have been popping up on literally every high street, every row of shops has at least one and they are actually laundering money. Shit at cutting hair too lol
Uk here and theres one in particular near me thats massive and decked out to fuck- they've seriously gone all out with the decor its crazy, but it's always empty aside from a few guys who just sit around. Clearly nothing strange is going on there...
EDIT. Swipe to type corrections
Yup near me there are smaller ones and bigger ones, they’re all relatively quiet, you do get people going in but they’re never busy.
It’s a cash in hand business where they can claim to have cut X number of people’s hair and nobody can prove they didn’t without extensively monitoring each individual shop, perfect business as a front for money laundering, especially when they can spread it across so many different shops.
When our bank notes were changing, and people were told to exchange their bills at the bank, a barber brought in multiple thousands of dollars... they got caught for money laundering.
Where I live in my country it’s restaurants. There’s a ton of restaurants, half decent looking ones, with like one or two employees milling about and never anybody in them eating yet somehow they stay open for years. It’s kind of weird because it’s so obvious.
Some of them can be immigrations scams too. Where the restaurant or nail salon staff pay to work there so they can show they have employment while on their way to permanent residency.
We have a bunch near us and they're usually busy and also really good, if you ask for a beard shave they give you a face treatment thing which is so nice. But I guess its different in other areas.
Same here. They rotate, the barbers will be in for like 3 months then you’ll never see them again… they “go on vacation back home” but never back
I've been going to Turkish barbers in the UK for 30 years. They have been everywhere for a long time. A Turkish hot shave is the best by far.
They are not just laundering fronts either.
Barber work is like a trade job in Turkey going back centuries. It's much more respected than it is here.
Get to know some Turkish people and you'll quickly realise the spend ALL their money on cars and clothes, they're still mostly skint.
When I was about 5, my mother took me for a haircut. I started crying and wiggling when the barber was using a trimmer on the back of my neck. He kept telling my mother I was too skittish.
This was 1970, men told women what was up and women were expected to take it.
I was still crying when we got to the car and she took a look. He had carved up the back of my neck and it was raw and bleeding.
She went back inside.
I do not know what she said, but he wasn’t there the next time we went.
Sport Clips special.
I can tolerate a poor haircut, I can wear a hat while it grows for a few days. But the moment they got me icing and rubbing aloe on my neck was the last time I ever went back. Found a reliable and consistent barber and never looked back
Nah, this is like a Great Clips or Hair Cuttery level.
Pay $10 for a haircut and get $10 service. No one should expect this, but these are the risks you take.
Great clips here is $22 for a standard cut
Those back room rub downs tho
Jeezus, ouch.
I'd be that person to go back and show the pitchure.. God does she have claws for nails?
Picture*
I did that to my husband once, giving him an at-home haircut with zero training. How tf does a trained stylist do that?
I'm going to guess it's unkept or old clippers.
Source: The lady who used to cut my hair did this multiple times. I was a dummy for staying with her for so long.
Post this to Google or Yelp reviews. Both for the heck of it if you really want.
You mean, "for the neck of it."
Good one.
Just post it on Google reviews or similar app
She knew she scratched you, there is no way she didn't see that.
This is caused by dull blades and the clippers not being properly oiled/maintained. I advise you to wash/dry those areas thoroughly and apply some antibiotic cream for a few days (or at night) to prevent infection.
Barber and part time barbarian 😄
They need new clippers asap
You went to the barber college right? Right????
I've had better cuts from a salon school than this.
Last time I got my hair cut, I asked for the lady to shave my head with the clippers. I got in the car and went about my other errands and the back of my neck/head began BURNING like it was actively on fire.
The lady had pressed the clippers to my skin so deeply that she scraped off the top layer or two of skin for a good five inches of where my neck and skull meet in the back of my head.
I just ended up doing my own head shaves after that.
Judging by the dotted pattern on that one line, her clippers are misaligned. It will keep nicking skin like that until she gets them serviced.
use photos to write a review on google
Dude go get a fucking refund and show him this, that's BS.
Don't get your hair cut at Walmart
This was me after paying $50 once, went back to perfect haircuts for $21.
Disinfect it
You need to send these photos and a demand for a refund. And get your ass to a doctor to make sure she didn't infect you with anything and demand that she reimburse you for it. This is appalling
More like Top Kwality hairdresser.
The fuck did they do to you
I once had a hairdresser slice the back of my neck open and then use the strap from the lanyard I was wearing to soak up the blood somehow without my noticing.
I’d be a little worried…
Happened to my mom once
🎼 Aren’t you lucky you’re a bleederrrrrrr? 🎵
I've cut my husbands hair for a few years now, no training and watched a couple of youtube videos with cheapish clippers from Walmart. I have never cut up his neck like this.
When I was a kid, I was getting a haircut. The hairdresser asked if she could use the electric clippers. My mom explicitly told her no, but she went ahead and did it anyway. I ended up getting cut and started bleeding. This was over 25 years ago and I still remember it.
I buzz my fiance's hair regularly and have never nicked him. No excuse, especially for someone charging money as a "professional."
Obviously not top quality.
Make sure you leave a review at the salon.
After recently having my ear cut open for surgery, the day after getting the stitches out, I went to get a haircut. Told the lady to be careful around my left ear because of the prior surgery being recent.
This woman grabbed and bent my ear so much, and did such a shitty job anyway.
Didn't get a haircut for YEARS after that, better yet, I only cut my own hair now.

Send pics to the manager. They should know their employee does this. Then get your money back.
I did ask one of the other employees for the manager while I was there once the cut was finished, but I got told they were off on leave until after Christmas. This was before I had actually even seen what the back of my neck looked like. I wish I had pushed further but at the time I didn't realize it was that bad. It felt like a very obvious lie, but for $40 I just don't have the time to chase it up.
$40?!?!?!?!?
I have a great barber and my price is $20, $30 with a shave.
Id be livid lol.
$40 is standard pricing in Aus, if anything it's cheaper than usual
I used to go every 2-3 weeks for a hair cut. At $40 thats about $700 a year. I ended up getting a good cordless clipper and trimmer and do my own hair almost every week. Saves me a ton of money and time
Sports Clipz?
Eek.
Fire them. Yesterday.
where did you go sportsclips?
I think your hairdresser recently re-zero gapped their clippers and overdid it so instead of having getting tight lines you're getting cut because the cutting blade isn't behind the stationary blade.
I went to my regular salon the day before my wedding years ago, to have my neck cleaned up. They did this to me. Oh, and I was the bride. No veil
Please leave a review on their yelp or something. I’d want to know before going to that hairdresser that they deny what they do wrong. I can’t stand people who don’t take accountability
I shave my head. Decided to go to a barber for the first time in years to get my beard trimmed and head shaved for my wedding. They cut me 3 times. Now I haven't gone to a barber in almost 16 years.
SUE THATS BODILY HARM
Bud get a new hairdresser if that's not the right option
Was she cutting your hair with a knife and fork or something? Jesus christ
That’s a licensed profession if you’re in the United States. Report her to your state board for cosmetology.
Hairdresser? Do you have any barbershops nearby?
There are, but I couldn't get in for an appointment before Christmas so I had to find somewhere else That will teach me for trying something different!
Definitely get a clean damp towel to wipe the cuts clean then put some bacitracin on the cuts. This should help prevent any infection in case those clippers weren’t clean. If you notice any swelling or drainage from the cuts go to urgent care to get treatment for an infection.
Bummer man, it'll heal up quick and lesson learned. Cut looks pretty clean tho
It was a ghost
She a cat or what?
My barber didn't even ask and gave me a straight razor neck shave after my regular haircut. It hurt and I was mad.
But oh my god my neck is smooth. I think I'm hooked
Top quality?
was it a revenge
Mosh up to bloodclottttt!!!
Ed and robs mineola
Lol this happened to me once when I got the new girl at a chain place. She also completely fucked up the haircut and I got so freaked out that she was going to make it worse before she made it better that I left in the middle of it. I went back two days later and a different stylist fixed it for free
Did an Oyster cut it ? 🦪
Looks like when my cat gets mad when launching off me. Ouchie. Even if she didn’t feel it/notice it, that’s a wild response.
Where’d you go? Great clips? She missed a bunch on the left side. The hair is a different length.
Tell people you fought a bear!
Commissary Special
Was it great clips? I had this happen at great clips
Not the best people they hire there
So I have a tiny hoop on my upper ear. It's not loose enough to hang. Snug to my ear. Never had an issue before.
Go to new hair lady. She keeps scraping my ear with comb. It is CLEARLY catching on something. She is undeterred and yanks. She HAS to notice, right? Third or fourth time I say ow. She does it again, I say ow again. Finally I say I say hey, you're catching my earring. "Oh." That's it. Not a sorry or anything. It's so swollen that night I have to take the ring out.
The man from Ironbark
I've never in my life had a barber that didn't show me the back of my head/neck when they were done. Guessing they didn't provide that service to you?
She did, but flashed the mirror. I also wear glasses, but had taken them off for the haircut so couldn't really see what she was showing me anyway.
Ah... lame
Great clips?
Once had a hairdresser slice the shit out of my neck only to say "wow you have really sensitive skin"... only for me to get home and see a 3 inch scrape all the way down the middle of my neck
Damn I will come back, demand a refund and never going back there.
It may not entirely be the cutter's fault. I'm a man in my mid 30s and have gotten 95% of my haircuts from the same person. One time recently, the clippers would nick the back of my neck similar to this but not as bad (my God why didn't you speak up??). Next time I went back, same thing happened, so she went to borrow a coworker's trimmer. That one kept kicking me too. Then she borrowed another and that one does not nick me. Both the trimmers that did do not hurt any other clients. No clue what it is, maybe extra thicc hair now?
Told you not to move, but it is mildlyinfuriating
I hope you're okay! But how does the rest of it look? I stopped going to Great Slips for that reason
I would definitely tell the stylist. A good hairdresser will test their clippers on the underside of their arm for pinching or cutting but some older stylists don't. I personally test the crap out of anything new and inspect my tools everyday before use. As well as clean them appropriately.
"Sorry, did I scratch you?"
Stop pushing when the clipper bogs down I guess
MEDIIIIC!!!
You fucked up by paying.
And tip?
We don't tip in Australia
Amazing!! Canada we would be expected to tip for this and pay full
he told you to sit Still
Anyone who's been to Navy Bootcamp in the last 2 decades can empathize.
I tried out a turkish barber recently, and they messed me up so bad. I had a horizontal cut all across the back of my neck, which he somehow managed to do with a razor machine.
He also messed up my hair, and there were a bunch of uneven patches.
Needless to say, I won't go there again.
Not saying turkish barbers are bad, but I'd rather stick to my tried and true barber shop
I shave my own head including that area using a mirror reflected in another mirror and still never scratched myself. That person really fucked up if they managed to scratch you like that.
Hmm. Doesn't look like it.
Name and Shame
Should have gone to a barber
When I was a kid I hated haircuts because the barber my mom liked (I'm assuming it was budget) always did this shit to me
I genuinely thought it was just part of getting a haircut
Back when I had hair, I went to a place near my college. I was a bit unruly looking at the time and I grew a lot of hair everywhere. The lady cutting my hair used a straight razor on the back of my neck which is usually quite nice. I felt her cut my neck and she panicked a bit. She was honest about it but all I really needed was a small bandage. She gave me the haircut for free despite my efforts to pay. I kind of felt bad for her since it was barely a cut.
When my hair started thinning a different lady asked if I was on chemo. So, you know, that's always a confidence booster. Kind of wished she cut my neck so I didn't have to pay her.
Go back and complain.
At the very least u should not have paid?
Bossman needs to go back to making Kebabs. I bet the clipper has a broken guard.
My barber always shows me the back of my head in a mirror when he's done, so I can see his quality work. Your hairdresser is a liar and an amateur.
I just cut my own hair last night. I’m terrible at it, but how does someone manage THAT? Especially an actual hairdresser
Wash that area please - you can get a nasty infection from that (fungus)
Question... do you personally choose the "V" shape neckline? I have never been asked if I want a "V".
I mean the scratches seem like being distracted but my line up by the only barber I swear by for a decade always leaves redness behind in winter. You can have freshly clean and oiled blades and it's not going to stop mother nature from drying out your skin. A steaming hot towel might have helped but I'm not justifying the scratches. Id put Neosporin on it if I were you.
You asked for a cut right? 😂
From here on out, go to a barber, not a hairdresser.
I don't know wth a hair dresser is but try having a black barber in the 90's if u think this is abuse.
Man’s definitely never been to a black barber shop that shit happens almost every time
If my barber did this, not only he would not recieve payment, I would sue the living fuck out of them. Especially if this happens before a key life event like a wedding or family xmas.
