And maybe it’s just the tissues I get, but this is followed up with the first tissue being a huge pain to get out without ripping or pulling out a chunk
Right?!? I share your mild infuriation at cardboard boxes with crappy perforations! And I share your awareness that lives depend on quality spaceships, and it’s a freakin’ tissue box. ::Mutters mildly infuriated::
Dont blame the tissue people, they dont make the boxes. Those are punched out of giant sheets with specialized cookie cutter style rollers at the paper factory. The rolls get rebuilt every few weeks because of how fast they go dull. It seems this box was made towards the end of the roll life cycle or maybe one of the blades was not set up right.
Source - went on a tour of a major box making factory that makes the packaging for hundreds of popular and lesser known brands.
Ok funny yes but if I didn’t have a sense of humor I would say “Operator error. This is like complaining that tangerines are bad because YOU can’t peel the skin off in one big piece”
I do the same shit and my wife hates me. My wife is Japanese and we live in Japan and they have so many fancy ways of opening things I’ve never seen before and I always just open things like a savage and she always yells at me hahaha
True, that was in the 1960s. Then corporations figured out we are all dumb, and they got greedy. This is a clear example of cutting corners to make a few more dollars.
I was unaware that there is an overlap between the skill sets needed to put a man on the moon and that for perforating the top of a box of Kleenex. Perhaps some user error in the opening of the box in this case?
The self sealing stickers that are on wet wipes or facial wipes packages are one of the most inept and irritating inventions. They lose their stick in no time. Wipes dry out. There has to be a better way.
I suspect KimberlyClark is using some recycled paper on these packages. That’s important because recycled paper has shorter fibers making this tear happen. Virgin or original paper fiber is longer. So, you can be happy they’re using recycled papers for manufacturing or pay more for your Kleenex. On the sticker issue, I agree.
Someone tried to open a box of tissues, failed and then just decided to post a picture on reddit and said: “Fuk it I’m off to start a new life on the moon, cya!”
Just wait til you get about 40 tissues out and the top one falls back in so you have to stick your giant hand in the tiny plastic hole to get it out and stretch it in a way that the top ones constantly fall back in for the next 100+ tissues
This annoys me. But what really boils my blood is when you get to the last few tissues, and say only want one tissue but they are hamfisted in there in such a way that you end up pulling out the last 8 tissues in a heap.
Every. Freaking. Time.
You should tell Kleenex about it. One time I contacted the flour company because of bad glueing on the 2kg paper flour pack. They sent me 8kg of flour back because I told them about the issue.
Maybe you get a few free boxes with paper towels (that also have the same issue D:)
No, space shuttles are built to be sturdy because they have to be. Tissue boxes are built to be thrown out or sit on shelves for years. They'll never make a sturdy tissue box.
We put people n the moon, however, we also have people who believe said moon landing was a hoax.
We have vaccines that have saved countless live, but we have people who believe they cause autism.
We have scientist inventors, and scholars who create ideas and concepts that improve humanity and improve our understanding of the universe and propel us to the future, yet we have people who can not or WILL NOT critically think for themselves and let us decline back into the dark ages.
Such is the duality and folly of man. :-/
On a lighter note- I recommend the kind with lotion. It's kindness for your nose especially if you have a cold.
And you can’t open a tissue box correctly, how this society has fallen. And yes OP, you suck at opening boxes and get angry over your own failures. Grow up
Good thing we didn’t send them in tissue boxes.
You know what...parts of it weren't fuckin far off tbh. The Apollo 11 lander had walls was as thin as 0.3mm in places.
It really was "Duct tape and moondust" lol
(First answer to the question in the link has several NASA sources with more info on this)
https://space.stackexchange.com/questions/924/what-would-have-happened-if-the-skin-of-an-apollo-lunar-module-was-ruptured
lol
Good thing op wasn't part of the mission
With recycled card board packaging that is
tissue boxThink of the billions of dollars saved if they had.
"My life depended on 150,000 pieces of equipment – each bought from the lowest bidder." --famous astronaut
Good thing OP wasn't in charge of NASA cause opening perforated cardboard is a challenge.
A select group of people put someone on the moon… the others decided to make tissues… do you see how there can be a difference of skill?
I say the other group doesn't know how to tear thin perforated cardboard cleanly
Id say the other group didn't know how to put people on the moon.
Why? They couldn't just borrow a sound stage and rope Stanley Kubrick into it?
/s
No
well.. that’s why you make tissues
Sir this is Reddit get outraged like the rest of us or get out
Others can put someone on the moon. Some can't even open a box of tissues without having a meltdown.
They're only mildly infuriated
ISMO - Man on the moon (YouTube)
Or maybe some of that is outsourced to a different country or done by machines
The people that make the tissues dont make the boxes. Boxes are usually made by paper recycling companies that make them for everybody else.
Reddit when someome says a silly joke expression not meant to be taken seriously 🤯
My statement is a joke as well.. there are people that take tissue R&D very seriously as well.
If you say it was a joke then I guess I cant dispute that.
Didnt read like that to me at all though.
There is a comment below that is a comedian explaining the joke.
Won't someone think of the astronauts? They need tissue too!
😂
80% of everything is crap.
It’s just an expression, lol
Add, there exist morons, mostly from the same country who don't believe that they put people on the moon.
Putting people on the moon now would still be quite a challenge
The tissues work just fine. The box is the problem.
The person incapable of opening a simple box is the true problem.
Push it in gently first, to break the fibers a bit, then pull it up.
It drives me crazy when they're ripped, so I figured out how not to rip it.
As someone who has ripped his own foreskin many times… it is quite literally also “what he said”
How the hell do you rip your foreskin?
Whacking it like you're trying to pull-start a lawnmower.
With great power
Comes great responsibilities… I’m still trying to figure out the responsibilities part at 39 years old 😝
Thank you for this! Glad to know it happens to other people.
Icing on the cake. This usually happens when stuff is dripping out of your nose and you really need a tissue fast. :-)
All packaging has become enshitified
This is completely a skill issue
(in you. you are the problem lol)
It's why OP wasn't in charge of sending people to the moon. Can't even open a tissue box.
Dropped out of tissue-opening 101 my freshman year.
That's not how perforations work.
You will be in my cabinet when I am elected Pres. Why can’t things work? Just a little more effort to make a quality perforation.
And maybe it’s just the tissues I get, but this is followed up with the first tissue being a huge pain to get out without ripping or pulling out a chunk
The Kleenex square boxes force you to take out 3 on the first pull. On the last pull it comes with 2 floating to the ground.
No one who makes these ever has to open them.
Absolutely this! Also the next tissue keeps falling back into the box and I have to literally tear the top off to get at them. 😣
Edit: Jesus Christ, people. It’s MILDLY infuriating. It’s a joke, I know that engineering and astronomy have nothing to do with silly cardboard boxes.
Well I for one appreciate your use of the "Can put a man on the moon" trope. It's a trip down memory lane to a simpler time...
I am convinced half the people who comment on these threads don't even know what sub they are in.
Right?!? I share your mild infuriation at cardboard boxes with crappy perforations! And I share your awareness that lives depend on quality spaceships, and it’s a freakin’ tissue box. ::Mutters mildly infuriated::
Kleenex didn't
Well its not like we are unable to do it better, its just we dont want to. Cheapest way possible.
Maybe don't brute force open a box of tissues, you ain't that desperate to blow your nose
push it inwards
Why easily solve the issue if you can complain on Reddit?
This is the way
https://i.redd.it/jju8fonci86g1.gif
Dont blame the tissue people, they dont make the boxes. Those are punched out of giant sheets with specialized cookie cutter style rollers at the paper factory. Moon = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Tissue=$
I know OP isn’t putting anything on the moon
Looks like a skill issue
Or did we? 🤔
Ok funny yes but if I didn’t have a sense of humor I would say “Operator error. This is like complaining that tangerines are bad because YOU can’t peel the skin off in one big piece”
I’d rather deal with this than open a bag of flour.
There’s ‘good old American know-how,’ and then there’s ‘who cares?’
This has nothing on the Mac n cheese “push” tabs in the boxes to open them.
Push in, then pull out.
Reduces risk of tear significantly
Allegedly.
I actually dig my nail around the perforation before opening for this exact reason. So happy I’m not alone🥹
Did we though...?
But think of the shareholders.
This drives me nuts. I’m all for recycling, but as the material is weaker, the perforation must be modified to account for that fact!
There is some debate about the moon landing.
This is so much not even mildly infuriating territory that I’m mildly infuriated you posted it here.
Whelp, it was mildly infuriating to me who just wanted a tissue.
This is exactly the type of post that fits this sub
Then so is my comment
Every fucking time! I’m quite competent but the box of tissues on my desk gives hints to the contrary.
Looks like a skill issue noob, try again and do it right when next time comes around.
Firstly, we did not put people on the moon. But that's no excuse for this..
You can’t open a tissue box. Are you putting yourself in the category of people that have what it takes to get to the moon?
I do the same shit and my wife hates me. My wife is Japanese and we live in Japan and they have so many fancy ways of opening things I’ve never seen before and I always just open things like a savage and she always yells at me hahaha
True, that was in the 1960s. Then corporations figured out we are all dumb, and they got greedy. This is a clear example of cutting corners to make a few more dollars.
Ah but no one was trying to make a bigger profit every year going to the moon
We? You have some 1940s German scientists in your pocket?
Hey NASA, long time no see!
I have that same reaction every time I open a box of gloves.
I don't think nasa makes tissue boxes
just gotta push down on it first and it rips clean every time. i’ve literally never had this issue because i don’t open it like a neanderthal.
chips too. there’s a wild amount of insanely mangled chip bags out there and i’ve never understood.
I run my nail around the dotted line then lift it out after. Maybe you were not meant for the moon.
Zipper bag.
That’s what I do.
Skill issue (JK I butcher these all the time)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes but now we are going backwards
This isn't mildly infuriating. Its mildly inconvenient.
Got one of these open cleanly this week and felt it was quite the accomplishment
Press operator probably needs to put some shim tape under those perfs. Those are notoriously hard to get right.
HUH!! ...but it worked PERFECTLY in the lab?????
Also can you imagine some men make the mistake and stick their pride position their manhood in shitty places 😜
Is Kleenex a tissue brand?
Where do you think all the R&D budget went?
these are the worst design
The “good” solution isn’t necessarily the most profitable solution
We put people on the moon, and then there’s people like you that can’t even rip a perforated section off properly. Fuckin shame mate.
The first test for acceptance to the putting-people-on-the-moon team: cleanly open a box of tissues. OP has failed.
That box wasn’t made here
Wow someone using this sub for the right reason. Bravo
Every time. I feel your pain.
Skill issue, you can easily rip the rest along the perforation. That is the mildly infuriating thing g for me.
Correct. They purposely didn’t send the ones that couldn’t open a tissue box.
This is more than mildly infuriating for me when it happens
I think this same thing every time something stupid happens. I’m glad I’m not alone.
it happens with most anything - nothing man made is perfect and people need to realize that
And they are making then thinner.
I'll do you one better, those "tear here" taps on bottles that just rip and peel from the bottle
Skill issue
Feel free to invent stuff yourself
Weak rip game, bro. C’mon, It’s not them, it’s YOU!
Someone tried to open a box of tissues, failed and then just decided to post a picture on reddit and said: “Fuk it I’m off to start a new life on the moon, cya!”
No we didn’t. Rrrr 🤪
Did we tho
Trying to get one store brand baby wipe out of the packet means you're going to get about six
And did you know about the massive amounts of money spent by Americans to design a pen that would be able to write in space (ink/gravity)
Russians decided to take a fuckin pencil ! 😆
😂🤣
Your average people have always been fools lol
This is my comment when anything goes wrong in my life
Yeah but then we stopped sending people to the moon and haven't bothered sending people any further
Look who we have as president
You know those people, and tissue people.
Not the same people.
/s
I exclusively buy this brand because of this opening. I have never in all my years botched the opening as bad as this
Good thing it didn't happen
Looks like a skill issue. Like people who break can tabs bc they bend instead of pulling, or same with seals on cartons.
Just wait til you get about 40 tissues out and the top one falls back in so you have to stick your giant hand in the tiny plastic hole to get it out and stretch it in a way that the top ones constantly fall back in for the next 100+ tissues
Nah, this is on you. Too eager to open cornhub.
This is the definition of this reddit.
If you believe that I have a box of tissues to sell you
Not sure its the same department bud...
We who? Not you, you can't even open a tissue box.
The country that put people on the moon can't give people insulin.
Nope we faked it
Here's an existential crisis for you OP...
The people smart enough to put man on the moon were evolutionary flukes...
This annoys me. But what really boils my blood is when you get to the last few tissues, and say only want one tissue but they are hamfisted in there in such a way that you end up pulling out the last 8 tissues in a heap. Every. Freaking. Time.
Totally!!!! 80% of times I get the same darn result!
You could have been patient and slowly peel that thing out.
Hey I agree. We can do brain surgery but for some reason Office Space is so right. Why cant a printer just i dont know..... print!!
They are not the same people probably
I don't believe Kleenex was involved in the moon landing. Also guessing an astronaut could have figured out that box
Well, to be more accurate, smart people put people on the moon…
You can’t open a box of Kleenex.
You should tell Kleenex about it. One time I contacted the flour company because of bad glueing on the 2kg paper flour pack. They sent me 8kg of flour back because I told them about the issue.
Maybe you get a few free boxes with paper towels (that also have the same issue D:)
Dude society died when we invented currency
User error
No, space shuttles are built to be sturdy because they have to be. Tissue boxes are built to be thrown out or sit on shelves for years. They'll never make a sturdy tissue box.
Ah yes - another complaint about how their life is so difficult
You didn't though
Did we? You mean Nixon really had an uninterrupted phone call on live television through a land line with men on the actual moon?
We put people n the moon, however, we also have people who believe said moon landing was a hoax.
We have vaccines that have saved countless live, but we have people who believe they cause autism.
We have scientist inventors, and scholars who create ideas and concepts that improve humanity and improve our understanding of the universe and propel us to the future, yet we have people who can not or WILL NOT critically think for themselves and let us decline back into the dark ages.
Such is the duality and folly of man. :-/
On a lighter note- I recommend the kind with lotion. It's kindness for your nose especially if you have a cold.
Except we didn't. Lol.
Oh no, your day must be ruined lol
And you can’t open a tissue box correctly, how this society has fallen. And yes OP, you suck at opening boxes and get angry over your own failures. Grow up
Put people on the moon but yet for some reason has never had a successful landing with humans on board ever since right 🤣
Do you actually think you’re saying something?
That's so cute you think we put people on the moon.
Real Footage from 1966 | FAKE Space Walk
Strange how only some people have this issue
*T-issue
‘We’
A group of twenty thousand or so highly skilled and highly educated people who worked for NASA.
Obviously the clown who couldn’t Remove a perforated closure on a box of tissues. Was never involved in this successful endeavour.
You can roast me when your sentences are composed properly, Captain.
👍👍
Exactly
Are the moon people in that picture?
Define "we"
What if the moon landing was just a dream?
'We put people on the moon' should be a whole reddit unto itself.
Every F’ing time 🤬
Allegedly put people on the moon apparently
