I’m OP and yes that’s correct. A lot of the technology we have originated from Nazis, I’m not offended by that. NASA literally adopted Nazis into the space program to help us get to the moon before The Soviet Union. I just think this comic is painfully unfunny.
It's more than unfunny. It's cringe. It's someones fantasy about their political opponents where they make up scenarios about them and imagine them as the most stereotypical caricatures possible. It honestly just makes me sad for OOP. What a miserable person.
Funny that this actually happened but it's almost funnier that the artist thinks it's the same thing to support Volkswagen, which hasn't had ties with Nazis since the end of the second world war, and Elon Musk, a guy who did a Nazi salute earlier this year.
That may be wild now, but funded by nazi's & then taken from them is a difference to funded and lead by a living nazi ain't it?
Volkswagen was a state company under the third reich that changed with the fall of the third reich.
I mean.. krupp stahl now is used in elevators does that mean its a nazi elevator?
I agree. Lots of former Nazis created businesses. They are no longer owned or run by Nazis, they have no Nazi ideology and they don't directly profit any Nazi organizations. Elon musk on the other hand is trying to interfere with the political systems of nations and even entire continents, influence wars and push a far right agenda using the money he makes from selling cars. Hugo Boss was a Nazi and Henry Ford was a hero of Hitler. If Hitler was currently on the board of Volkswagen I would say something
Porsche would have been better. More subtle than the literal “people car”. A car carrying the name of an actual Nazi rather than the company he founded.
This should be a pinned post. Too many people here view any critique against a political meme as taking offense to the opinion, and fail to consider the possibility that the meme might simply just be unfunny.
This sub is now just a reaction sub to r/comedeycemetery. Like, just because something's on there means we can post about it.
No, they actually had it right this time; this meme is simply unfunny, regardless of this fun fact. Obviously, no one cares about the Nazi origins; that's not the "owned lib" point you think it is.
Is the CEO of VW sieg heiling and spreading far right ideas and propaganda right now? Or how about couple months back during inauguration of POTUS?
Ford was antisemitic. To the point Hitler was his pen-pal and Ford blamed jews for his favourite chocolate bar tasting slightly different. Is it relevant today? Or that IBM traded with Nazis and provided them with computing devices that made holocaust more efficient.
None of these companies actively try to make the Nazis come back. They were just opportunistic, as all companies are. They were doing the capitalism thing of minmaxing expenses to income. Sieg heiling and shouting about white replacement theory does not improve sales. That's the nuance.
Most people know Volkswagen had ties to the nazi regime. This meme doesn't belong here, because it does suck, it's is a total straw man. When did anyone say they were getting rid of their Teslas and replacing them with Volkswagens?
Volkswagen was literally made by the Nazi government as a scheme to get Germans to willingly give up their paychecks to the government. It literally translates to the people’s car and was propped up as the future vehicle of Germans, no one could outright afford it, so they created a system where you could forfeit some of your pay for stamps in a booklet, and once you filled the booklet, you got the car. It would of course take years for people to save up enough anyway so they put off making the cars and used their salaries to support the war instead.
How did I know my post would end up here? I’m honored. I don’t actually care about the politics of it at all, a lot of our modern technology comes from Nazis. I just care that it isn’t funny.
Reading a little bit of history was too much? The Volkswagen that exists today has nothing to with the VW funded by the Nazi Germany. In 1945 they shared one thing in common which was the design of the VW Käfer (Beetle), and the factory, other than that there was nothing else. The original VW was an offshoot of the Kraft durch Freude or KdF for short (literally "strength through joy") Organisation, and the latter was itself a direct offshoot of the Nazi government with the aim of being a free time organisation for families with a propaganda twist to it. It was supposed to allow people to own their car by making them put deposits in a fund. The fund got misappropriated by Hitler to launch his war and the platform of the Beetle got adapted to it because the main light nazi military vehicle, kinda like the American Willys Jeep, the Kübelwagen is essentially a Beetle with lifted suspensions and an open top square body.
In 1945 thought the factory was still somewhat functional after years of bombardment and there were few completed Käfer built before the war for demonstrations and propaganda reasons laying around, and that was all there was left: the National Socialist Party was gone for good, which meant that all the organisations depending from it like the KdF running VW, was gone as well. At this point there was a damaged factory and a stockpile of parts built during the war, and it's right then the British Army Engineering Corps arrived took over the factory and literally created a completely new organisation running the machine to build the cars, first for their own use, as they needed vehicles to chauffeur their officers around in occupied Germany (they test drived one example and liked it immediately) and open trucks weren't ideal, then after a 10000 examples run for which they needed the local population to work in Wolfsburg plant to build them, they realise they had jump-started the local economy again, allowed the locals to put food on their table again and so kept it running it for a little while before giving it over. From then the Beetle became a smashing success but not a single person involved with the KdF or the nazi party was running the new VW. If you visit the Wolfsburg plant today the main road inside it is named after the Officer in command of the British Army Corps of engineers that started it all again.
Since 1945 they are a completely different company. If you want to take a piss at German business families that still possess money they made during Hitler's regime with uninterrupted succession lines in their business corporate structure of which members were involved with that regime, look at the Quandt family, BMW's owners.
Volkswagen has recognized its historical connections to Nazism, made compensation efforts for former forced laborers, and taken public stances and apologies around its past and related issues.
Who’s excusing voltswagens nazi crimes?! They faced justice decades ago!
Voltswagen was the nationalised German car manufacturer, after the war it was taken over by the British, Nazis we’re purged, Robert Ley, the mastermind of Voltswagen, killed himself before trial at Nuremberg, other employees went to military tribunals and faced prison and death, it was handed back to the new German gov then got privatised in 1960 with a public stake.
Now, almost 100 years since its creation by the Nazi party, it’s ran as a private publicly traded company, in a democratic country with absolutely no nazi influence what so ever. It’s beyond dumb to come out with this crap lol
Nah shitting on Japan for that is valid seeing as they haven’t apologized, allowed the same terrible people to continue to have influence, and basically don’t teach their population about what they did.
Ok yeah that’s perfectly valid, but I’m referring to their atrocities in the past like hating Japanese people because of they did naking. Or like still being mad at America for slavery
Wait till they find out Henry Ford was a supporter of the Nazis until the late 1930s and was given a Medal by Hitler himself.
It's baffling how they act like they care about something when they really don't and just use it to justify using violence again those they don't like.
Pretty sure OP knows this but also understands that Volkswagen isn’t currently run by nazis and buying a Volkswagen doesn’t funnel money directly into the pockets of far right nationalists.
Many German companies were, but after the Nazis were defeated they continued to be run by people who were not Nazis, and they don't take to Twitter with ridiculous hot takes, and they haven't been part of dismantling our government.
Like, in what world are we categorizing this as anything other than right wing political slop? Yeah it's no worse than when the left does it; still pretty dumb.
Yeah like you know all German big brands. All of them worked for the Nazis. Nothing new. The question though is how are they acting today. Not like Nazis like Teslas owner I presume
I’m not sure why you think comparing Musk to Hitler is somehow a point for Musk or his supporters. Weird. I also doubt anyone would have a problem with Tesla once Musk is removed. You may have noticed Hitler isn’t particularly involved in VW anymore.
Mercedes built trucks, engines, airplane parts and military vehicles. They were also one of the largest users of forced labor (tens of thousands)
BMW manufactured aircraft parts for the Luftwaffe and also relied heavily on forced labor, including prisoner labor
Porsche designed vehicles for the Nazi regime, developing the VW beetle under Hitlers direction. They also worked on tanks.
Ford produced trucks for the Nazi and Henry Ford famously published some antisemitic writings, Hitler very much admired Henry and even had a portrait of him in his office.
I don't think anyone is ignorant of the origins of Volkswagen.
The comic is one of those things were someone draws themselves owning their political opponent by putting words in their mouths. It isn't very funny and it is low effort.
I think that if anybody cares enough/ is in a financial position to sell their Tesla over Elon, it's safe to say they'd do some relevant research on other car brands and find something with a less shitty CEO. It's getting sparse though, seeing the clown suit the Toyota CEO decided to flaunt not long ago.
Founded by Nazis and currently run with someone with problematic views are two much different things and the first one doesn’t matter past historic trivia
The vast majority of German companies were owned by or at least cooperated with nazis. But right now, quite fucken obviously they aren't. While Tesla's head supports the apartheid is South Africa, threw a Sieg heil on national TV, and protects nazis on his platform.
No shit its true this is not some big hidden truth that most people don't know. This meme does however ooze "out of touch boomer who thinks he's clever"
I mean yeah it's a terrible meme with "I portrayed myself as a chad and you as a soyjack" structure that is supposed to shame people for buying cars that have bad history (most of brands have something bad behind them)
Yeah I get the message, but this is literally a shower argument
Some people would say "uhh but dieselgate" which yeah that was pretty shitty thing but I would still choose it over the lithium batteries, for which the lithium is mined by the cheap cheap labor of kids from 3rd world countries, which will last less then 5 years and will gave to be replaced, plus those motors aren't exactly mileage friendly
To wrap this up, you shouldn't shame people because they bought a car, because of politics/belives.
I remember when I first got this sub recommended and it was actually about memes. Now it’s just a cesspool to get mad at everything. Also find a new sub to suck on because now every post for the last few months is from comedycementery.
IMHO buying products from a company founded by Nazis 80 years ago and not currently run by Nazis is VASTLY different than buying products from a company that has its current majority owner actively throwing Nazi salutes at political rallies in the last year.
It's absolutely true, but the comic is still lazy and unfunny, hence the "they're not even trying to be funny" title.
Weirder still is that I know two people who dumped their Teslas, but one went for a Kia, and the other went with a Subaru, so in my worldview, the strawman in the comic doesn't even fit.
It was such a Sueprvillain moment too. Hitler going to Volkswagen like, I like beetles. Make me a beetle car. And it must be affordable. And the engineers like yo wtf engineering for dear life hoping the Führer would be satisfied with the beetle car.
This is, objectively speaking, an absolutely, positively, undeniably, truly, TRULY horrific post. Do you ACTUALLY think this is a good political cartoon, op?
So what if it is true? The joke isn't that funny, especially given the ugly cartoon. It might have been less obnoxious as a wojak, but still. Didn't realise this was a fact-checking subreddit.
Ah yes, because the people at Volkswagen who cooperated with nazis are still alive and controlling the company. And of course all Germany is still nazi, because times don't change at all. /s
"strawman sentence here by a caricature of a real personCalm and collected rebuttal from my more reasonable self insertAngry response from the caricatureInsert word for someone who follows the political ideologies I'm making a cartoon in spite of, am I right?"
No, this is not funny. It belongs in the "Comedy Cemetery"
Doesn't change the facts that it's a completely fictional scenario, Volkswagen is not currently owned by nazis, and that most people who avoid tesla for whatever reason are not likely to get Volkswagen cars anyway because they are not popular.
I kinda ruined Porsche for a friend doing that. It was by accident, but still… He loved Porsche and always wanted one. One day we were just chilling at work when I came across a meme that said “When she says she loves Porsche/When I say I do too” and a photo of a regular Porsche and an Elefant tank Destroyer. I showed it to him because I found it funny and he loved Porsche. He looked at me confused and I explained how the Elefant was built from Porsche’s failed Tiger I chassis.
He again looked at me dumbfounded, and being a history buff I kinda went on a little explanation of the Porsche v. Henschel competition to design the Tiger I… Turns out, he loved the cars, but didn’t know anything about the company: How it was important to the German war effort and how Porsche himself was a literal Nazi, a party member.
His love for Porsche evaporated pretty quickly. I felt kinda bad and didn’t have the heart to tell him about BMW, Mitsubishi, or other famous car companies that had ties to the Axis powers.
not currently right? it's not a good argument because you wouldn't be supporting something you disagree with by buying from a formerly-nazi-owned business as opposed to a currently-elon-musk-owned business
And here I thought nobody could be this brainwashed to defend this meme except Musk 🤣
Buddy, also half of NASA's science, including the ones that put a man to the Moon, was led by nazi scientists after WWII
Are you gonna use your big brain to acknowledge that what happened in the past doesn't necessarily reflect the current conditions, or you want to be a Musk groupie for your whole life? ❤️
he knows dude, but that is irrelevant. Do you condem and refuse certain medical discoveries because they were made/found 80 years ago in un-ethical ways? All you can do is accept and learn from the past, and focus on not financing people who are Nazis today.
Damn this comic is ugly as all fucking hell. I wish my eyes had not laid on it. Do be clear I know vw and their Nazi shinanigans, this comic still fkn sucks
u/Jaded-City-2734, your post does NOT fit the subreddit!
I think OP knows its true but still doesnt find the joke to be funny
I’m OP and yes that’s correct. A lot of the technology we have originated from Nazis, I’m not offended by that. NASA literally adopted Nazis into the space program to help us get to the moon before The Soviet Union. I just think this comic is painfully unfunny.

"I aim for the stars, but i keep hitting London."
Dint say that he’s hypocritical! Instead say that he is apolitical.
Once ze rockets are up, who cares where zhey come down? That's not my department!
Get to the moon? Don't be absurd.
They had Die Glocke, why would they need to go to the moon?
Because of the zombies. This is true btw, I learned that playing Black Ops.
"Walk into NASA some time and yell 'heil hitler', WHOOP, they all jump straight up!"
you’re right. I feel like you gotta remember why we’re supposed to remember the Alamo to find that s kind of artstyle and content appealing.
It's more than unfunny. It's cringe. It's someones fantasy about their political opponents where they make up scenarios about them and imagine them as the most stereotypical caricatures possible. It honestly just makes me sad for OOP. What a miserable person.
This comic is a reference to Alyssa Milano who sold her Tesla and bought a Volkswagen because being she didn't want to support Nazis.
Funny that this actually happened but it's almost funnier that the artist thinks it's the same thing to support Volkswagen, which hasn't had ties with Nazis since the end of the second world war, and Elon Musk, a guy who did a Nazi salute earlier this year.

I meant the artist or whatever
OOOP
I agree. Lots of former Nazis created businesses. They are no longer owned or run by Nazis, they have no Nazi ideology and they don't directly profit any Nazi organizations. Hugo Boss was a Nazi and Henry Ford was a hero of Hitler. If Hitler was currently on the board of Volkswagen I would say something
Yea, it's a pretty shitty comic. Could have done with some subtly. Maybe just a guy in a VW calling a tesla driver a Nazi Supporter.
Porsche would have been better. More subtle than the literal “people car”. A car carrying the name of an actual Nazi rather than the company he founded.
How about Ford?
Volkswagen was made by hitler himself and Porsche was a already existing company.
To be honest joke delivery is rather lazy and poor. It is definietly not the funniest one I have seen...
Do you think they don’t know that? It’s in comedy cemetery because it’s just not funny not because they think volkswagen is good.
It's also a hideous artstyle and honestly so over the top that it's either made by a complete moron or is satire
Trust me, there are regards who think this is a daily occurrence. Like my dad for example
Yeah the concept is funny, but the execution is absolutely terrible..
The concept isn't even that funny in the first place.
This should be a pinned post. Too many people here view any critique against a political meme as taking offense to the opinion, and fail to consider the possibility that the meme might simply just be unfunny.

I frequently get posts from here and Comedy cemetery, sometimes right next to each other.
Is it true? Sure.
Is it currently relevant? Not really.
Yeah, there's nuance.
I've just seen someone argue that Musk is an "autistic right-winger" (to compare with these other brands' past).
If it's the kind of rhetorical flex they think they have... well, then I understand why they think this drawing is funny.
The first cars were marketed as "Jew flattening machines" /s
If you wanted to call out something serious at least go for dieselgate
This would be a much better joke.
Most people know Volkswagen had ties to the nazi regime. This meme doesn't belong here, because it does suck, it's is a total straw man. When did anyone say they were getting rid of their Teslas and replacing them with Volkswagens?
It sure is true, but the joke is still unfunny.
That is some r/boomerhentai level of eyehurting kungfu.
Pretty confident those nazis are dead.
And their cars were actually better.
Are they still nazis or is it just elon throwing sieg heils?
I wish it were only Elon throwing that vile gesture around without shame…
https://preview.redd.it/vsz9rg6ou86g1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41339bfdd31d9f9ffa5160dee17e443c6d795ef6
Elon's was pretty clear but this one seemed like a stretch to me.
Dude absolutely KNOWS he doesn't have the money to cover his ass from the backlash
I’m trans and I want a “my other pronoun is a poodle” on a shirt.
I mean, what's better: founded by nazis or currently run by nazis?
Yeah. Surprised people who bring up this history don't also with Toyota, Mitsubishi, Bayer, etc.
Probably not fans of youth pastor ryan.
Mechanics call Volkswagen's hitlers revenge because they are such a pain the ass to work on lol
He obviously knows they were mad by nazis. What could have possibly made you think otherwise?
Aldi brothers fought for Germany during world War II
Yeah, one of them straight up went to the eastern front (and was really mad about it for the rest of his life)
Yup, but they are dead. Elon is alive, and is a neo nazi who thinks sig heiling in front of the presidential seal is a good idea. Would you really want to buy a car currently being built with that kind of decision making?
Don't you twats belong on 4chan?
Volkswagen was literally made by the Nazi government as a scheme to get Germans to willingly give up their paychecks to the government. Not only Volkswagen
yea everybody knows VW was sponsoring nazis you idiot, that's not the point at all
Pretty weak.. they'd be driving a Subaru
I know it kills the meme, but the only vehicle those two are trading into is a Subaru.

Edit: typos and details.
Those Nazis were 80 years ago, and Musk is right now.
So was hitler, but we aren’t excusing him
Hitler lived and died a nazi. Did the car company?
Volkswagen has recognized its historical connections to Nazism, made compensation efforts for former forced laborers, and taken public stances and apologies around its past and related issues.
Who’s excusing voltswagens nazi crimes?! They faced justice decades ago!
Voltswagen was the nationalised German car manufacturer, after the war it was taken over by the British, Nazis we’re purged, Robert Ley, the mastermind of Voltswagen, killed himself before trial at Nuremberg, other employees went to military tribunals and faced prison and death, it was handed back to the new German gov then got privatised in 1960 with a public stake.

hideki tojo's grand niece was outcasted for her trying to say tojo did nothing wrong.
They should buy a Ford instead......
Wait till they find out Henry Ford was a supporter of the Nazis until the late 1930s and was given a Medal by Hitler himself.
It's baffling how they act like they care about something when they really don't and just use it to justify using violence again those they don't like.
You have to be younger than a teenager to make this post. Imagine thinking OP was disagreeing about Volkswagens origins lmao. Infantile understanding.
Pretty sure OP knows this but also understands that Volkswagen isn’t currently run by nazis and buying a Volkswagen doesn’t funnel money directly into the pockets of far right nationalists.
i’m jewish, me and my brother will make jokes about his volkswagen from time to time
Many German companies were, but after the Nazis were defeated they continued to be run by people who were not Nazis, and they don't take to Twitter with ridiculous hot takes, and they haven't been part of dismantling our government.
Do you even have a point? Or is it just vibes?
That is at least somewhat of a claim.
Not really. Heinrich Nordhalf took over the business after WW2. He was never a member of the Nazi Party.
The manager of the production plant after WW2 was Herman Munsch, who had been an opponent of the Nazis.
So...there you are, people who were not Nazis.

Yeah, it’s not exactly the same Benz, BMW, etc worked with the Nazis. Volkswagen was literally their idea. Founded by the Nazi party.
Currently, well…….dieselgate comes to mind
Overall I think the meme sucks but the "My other pronoun is a poodle" shirt is funny to me just because of how dumb it is
But the beetle is so damn cute!

Wait till you hear about NASA.
Literally Volkswagen was founded by Porsche with a direct help and by direct order of Hitler himself.
This only work if the Nazis are still around and supported by the sales you know? You didn’t know that? OP is an idiot.
VW also used slave labor through the goddamn 90s in South America.
I’m not sure why you think comparing Musk to Hitler is somehow a point for Musk or his supporters. Weird. I also doubt anyone would have a problem with Tesla once Musk is removed. You may have noticed Hitler isn’t particularly involved in VW anymore.
They don’t be thinking, you probably sound like the adults from Charlie Brown to them talking all that sense
Dawg thats not the point, the point is this comic is a fucking fever dream
Mercedes allegedly made luftwaffe aircraft, hence their tri propeller emblem.
Sorry not the aircraft themselves but the engines
Mercedes built trucks, engines, airplane parts and military vehicles. They were also one of the largest users of forced labor (tens of thousands)
BMW manufactured aircraft parts for the Luftwaffe and also relied heavily on forced labor, including prisoner labor
Porsche designed vehicles for the Nazi regime, developing the VW beetle under Hitlers direction. They also worked on tanks.
Ford produced trucks for the Nazi and Henry Ford famously published some antisemitic writings, Hitler very much admired Henry and even had a portrait of him in his office.
Volkswagen was sponsored by nazis 80 years ago, tesla is run by one right now. Next question.
I think it was "he who shall not be named" who ordered for it's creation
I think it was "he

it is pretty hard to take a tesla driver seriously
Rumor has it Hitler himself drew the first concept of the Beetle on a napkin at a cocktail party.
Apparently Doc Martens are a very popular shoe brand with this bunch. Guess who came up with those shoes?

This sub can be so braindead sometimes. It just isn't funny, OP knows the nazi role in Volkswagen's history.
While technically true... the joke still isn't funny considering modern day Volkswagen dosent actively support any nazi parties or ideology
I don't think anyone is ignorant of the origins of Volkswagen.
The comic is one of those things were someone draws themselves owning their political opponent by putting words in their mouths. It isn't very funny and it is low effort.

cringe meme
VW was founded by Nazis.
Tesla is owned by a Nazi.
Spot the difference...
Cartoon is way too accurate
THOSE Nazis died a long time ago.
Why is this sub suddenly back in my feed? It was kind of nice to have a break from the people who unironically agree with The Onion comics.
Who's the boss in this situation?
The more silly part was, they bought Tesla because of Elon Musk, and they sold it because of Elon Musk.
Do people still use the coexist bumber stickers? I feel as though all the people that used to use them turned against that.
They got very upset when I pointed out that Alyssa Milano literally got rid of her Tesla, bought a VW, and then ran to social media to brag about it.
See, they aren’t currently nazis nor did the current CEO of Volkswagen do a nazi salute at the US presidential inauguration.
Founded by Nazis and currently run with someone with problematic views are two much different things and the first one doesn’t matter past historic trivia
By that logic, people drinking fanta are Nazis. There's a lot of fucked up brand histories.
Sponsored? Dude Volkswagen was FOUNDED by the Nazis. Its name literally means "peoples car" it was a state run corporation.
How dare you assume those are ladies.
And on his freetime, the guy on the right argues that germany should get over their nazipast
True, however it is not (at least afaik) not relevant anymore
“This comic is not funny because it accurately portrays me”
Why do they all look like characters from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?
While technically correct to some degree, It's not that funny.
They haven't been Nazis for decades, and Elon Musk currently is one.
70 years from now, when he's dead, I might get a Tesla.
They obviously know it's true. You seriously thought that was the only reason they'd respond this way? Did you not look at the cartoon?
Okay but who finds this shit funny? This is some Facebook level comedy no matter what side of the political circus you support
Nah, it makes sense they don't consider it funny as activists typically protest modern stuff, not the one that happened 80+ years ago.
Not just Volkswagen. Porsche and Mercedes too
The contextual difference is that Husk goes around and does Nazi shit, while Volkswagen stopped doing Nazi shit in 1945.
Hugo Boss designed their uniforms. Difference is that nobody from that time is alive or part of that company anymore.
Ja, that is ze joke.
Volkswagen was literally a scheme from Hitler to get more money from the German people without raising taxes.
It only became an actual car brand in 1946
So it is OK to support a living Nazi because some companies where founded by Nazis when everbody was a Nazi in Germany?
Yes very funny the Joke is incredible accurate👌
Holy strawman
Ah yes, because the people at Volkswagen who cooperated with nazis are still alive and controlling the company. And of course all Germany is still nazi, because times don't change at all. /s
"strawman sentence here by a caricature of a real person Calm and collected rebuttal from my more reasonable self insert Angry response from the caricature Insert word for someone who follows the political ideologies I'm making a cartoon in spite of, am I right?"
No, this is not funny. It belongs in the "Comedy Cemetery"
it's true but man where's funny
Doesn't change the facts that it's a completely fictional scenario, Volkswagen is not currently owned by nazis, and that most people who avoid tesla for whatever reason are not likely to get Volkswagen cars anyway because they are not popular.
Yeah VW was sponsored, but Tesla IS sponsored. Not the same thing OP.
This fucking comic is horrid. It definitely belongs in r/comedycemetery it's exactly what the sub was made for
The company was restructured by the Americans after WWII. It's hardly the same company. Also, contemporary Germans aren't nazis.
There are so many insulting stereotypes going on in this picture, and op decided to take the moral high ground? What the fuck even is reddit anymore
r/memesopdidntlike vs the right winger cess pit allegations
I felt kinda bad and didn’t have the heart to tell him about BMW, Mitsubishi, or other famous car companies that had ties to the Axis powers.
...Yes and all the Nazis who were involved in that are extremely dead, while the one in charge of Tesla is very much alive.
At least they acknowledged their history, unlike Elon's seig heil denial
I can't stand when people think others don't find a joke funny because you think we don't understand it.
The joke might be historically accurate, but when humor misses the mark this badly, it just drives itself into the ditch.
The tense of the verb makes a difference
And Hugo Boss made nazi uniforms.
But what about today. You know, when the cars are being bought ... Are Hugo Boss and Volkswagen nazi brands today?
Because the CEO of tesla is talking like a nazi, and heiling like a nazi.
And you know what they say.. If it quacks like a nazi duck, and does hitlergrüss like a nazi duck ... well then it's probably a nazi duck.
Gm sold trucks to the Nazis. Henry Ford was a anti semite. I mean go back far enough and every company did some bad shit. Most still fo6
You think they don't know who made Volkswagen?
Op:

Two things can be true. It would make sense volkswagen was founded by nazis but the cartoon isnt funny either
Everyone knows this is true brob
not currently right? it's not a good argument because you wouldn't be supporting something you disagree with by buying from a formerly-nazi-owned business as opposed to a currently-elon-musk-owned business
Not only is it true about VW, but there is at least ONE case of this literally happening
It doesn't really matter at all that VW was founded by Nazis. So, it's use a a gotcha fails on principle, but that's what makes the joke work.
Lol are you dense? The comedycemetery post was never about whether or not Volkswagen was founded by the Nazis
he knows dude, but that is irrelevant. Do you condem and refuse certain medical discoveries because they were made/found 80 years ago in un-ethical ways? All you can do is accept and learn from the past, and focus on not financing people who are Nazis today.
The Nazi who founded Volkswagen is dead and no longer runs the company tho
I don’t know how anyone under retirement age finds these funny
[deleted]
That looks like one of those memes where someone tries to depict themselves as morally superior by portraying themselves as the chad
Volkswagen has stopped to support Nazis 80 years ago. Similar as Ford btw
Wait until they find out what Porsche or Mercedes was up to in 1933-1945. Or who was the Quandt family close to during WWII.
But it’s not run by or funding nazis now, is it?
Uhh... And like, atop of that wasn't there scandal in recent years that Volkswagen was falsifying pollution results of their cars?
Well most items like birth control was made by nazis
Yeah Volkswagen was made by Hitler himself. Funded by Hitler. Doesnt mean I'm going to throw my tiguan away companies and people can change
Former Nazis are still marginally better than actual current Nazis.
[removed]
Dont forget Volkswagon. BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Porsche all used slave labor from concentration camps during WWII
Damn this comic is ugly as all fucking hell. I wish my eyes had not laid on it. Do be clear I know vw and their Nazi shinanigans, this comic still fkn sucks
Um...not a funny or accurate joke. The two lesbians would have bought a Subaru. However, I bet the guy has a collection of Nazi memorabilia.
Holy missed the point</3
