Bees can actually sting other insects with no trouble and reuse Thier stinger

Mammals are different problem with elasticated skin causing the rearward facing barbs of thier stingers to become stuck and the bee trying to escape ends up rupturing it's thorax and dying. This is sad as bees are nice, please be nice to bees

Yes bees are nice but fuck hornets, wasps, and mosquitos

    4 points Chaps_Jr

The unfortunate thing is, wasps are actually important pollinators

    parent root
    8 points yoelamigo

Fuck pollination. Just make more bees. As long as wasps are fucking gone. /j

Mosquitoes are always very important for the ecosystem

Gall midges (from the Cecidomyiidae family) and also mosquitoes (from the Ceratopogonidae family) are among the most important pollinators for cocoa trees. Your biggest advantage? Due to their tiny size - between 1 and 3 millimeters - they fit perfectly through the small flower heads of the cacao trees.

Do you like chocolate? Because I got some bad news about how useful they are and how much you like mosquitoes.

Well do we have cacao trees in America? If not can we get rid of mosquitoes in America

Mosquitoes are a vital part of the diet for bats and spiders

What about bedbugs?... Are they vital to our ecosystem?

    parent root
    3 points Fresher_Taco

They're actually one of the biggest pollinators out there

    parent root
    1 points Every_Ladder9731

They are still one of the coolest insects I know

Wild how bees are basically tiny strategists who only malfunction when they meet our stretchy human skin, nature really coded them with patch notes we never asked for.

    parent root
    1 points RustedRuss

Apparently it's not a malfunction, it's specifically adapted to hurt vertebrates

    parent root
    1 points Smart-Nothing

Doesn’t it keep stinging and pumping venom after the stinger dislodges as well?

Seems like nature got weird when evolving these traits.

    parent root
    1 points RustedRuss

Huh, I never knew that. Thanks.

Yeah because bees don't sting to hunt but as a defense mechanism.

    parent
    1 points captaindomon

Yep. A bee sting is their nuclear option, it’s the final line of defense in what they see as an absolute emergency - like a self destruct mechanism for a ship. Most bees are very hesitant to use it unless they think it’s an emergency, to defend their family in their hive.

    Hilarious this is downvoted? 😆

Mosquitoes are vampires. Spiders are assassins. Bees are just tiny, highly defensive suicide bombers
