They are both tasteless and a liar unless measured, the moment you measure them, they are instantly forced to move out of superposition. Oh, wrong topic, never mind!
Technically friend is not a liar since you call em tasteless which means from their pov its really good but is just not on par with your taste. Hence they're not lying, they just genuinely thought its good.
Unpopular opinion: If I don't like it in the first few episodes / after the first few hours of gameplay and it is supposed to "get better", it is just bad direction / design
Right?? You go in thinking you're about to be proven wrong, and instead you waste even more time. Betrayal hits harder when it's dressed up as “just wait, it gets good"
"Man, that show is so good. The main character, which I don't even remember the name of because I'm on the phone all the time, does this super awesome thing that's totally out of character, which I wouldn't know since I'm on the phone all the time, to this other character which I also don't remember the name of but he's super awesome and stuff! That show is so good I swear !!1!1!1!1"
Never got on hype train on TV and never really went for friend recommendations if those were not on my watchlist anyway
Last time I was hyped was metal gear solid V. I bought new console just for ground zeroes. Damn nice tech demo. Betrayal was real, but several years unemployment and I miss time when there was money just to buy gaming console out of spite
In the context of Video Games, i once played a game recommended by a friend, with the warning that the first 40 hours of the game are incredibly boring, but it gets better. And he was not lying, the first 40 hours were Incredibly boring. To the point where I actually stooped as low as cutscene skipping and dialoge skipping just so I didn't fall asleep.
But then it happened, I got through the boring part, and not only did it start getting better, it is now one of my all time favorite games, with hundreds of hours of playtime, and I still haven't even done everything yet. It's got the hands down best storyline of any game I've played, and it continues to be my top 3 favorite games of all time.
So yeah, sometimes it is worth getting through the rough bits at the beginning.
98% of things that come out now are bad. studios are trying to make shows that would be liked by the most possible people, but you cant really make something everyone will like, so its all just mediocre bs
Also just as a general policy, if your once good show starts plodding for time and trying to string me along to "get to the good parts", or reduces emphasis of its unique premise to get by on standard drama tropes, I'm out and I'm not coming back. (See Resident Alien season 2, Stranger Things season 4 and Walking Dead....we'll be generous and say somewhere in season 3, oh and patron saint American Gods season 3, what a pile of trash)
They're either tasteless or a liar, not both.

You can have no taste and be aware of it.
Perhaps not both.

You're the person everyone need.

Agreed. The point of the pilot is to pull you in. If that didnt work, the shows not gonna get better, youll just enter cost sunk fallacy.
no that's just objectively true
Exactly. Of I have to eat half of my burger before it starts tasting good, it's a shitty burger.
When you give something a second chance, only to realize the hype was a trap.

i gave it 4 seasons. the liar is now dead to me.. lol

Bro pulling the legendary move.
Might just be taste difference, many people like AoT I don't, I love Steins;Gate but a lot quit before the 12th episode
I mean AoT is mostly action so if you are into more emotional depth then its understandable.
If you like action animes and still hate AoT then you have no taste and your opinions dont matter anymore. Sorry.
Yeah I'm not a fan of action unless it builds an atmosphere
"it gets better in season 4"...is how I end up wasting days

For me it was sword art online.
What was the show for you op?

Also, the game is Final Fantasy 14
My trust issues started when I realized it gets better at episode 5 is the biggest lie in television history
Madoka proves 3 is the maximum
I feel you
This was me with One piece & Evangelion
One piece is long , very , very long
I love anime, and i love reading one piece, its even my favorite manga, but god do i hate watching it.
And Pokemon i just don't get the hype.
Pokemon is mostly nostalgia going crazy..
Solo leveling - so shitty, no plot, no characters except protagonist, others just a background
Started great, i thought it could be the next gantz. But ended up being meh
Key word "solo" 😁
Evangelion was always just a litmus test to see how far someone's anime leanings went.
Not gonna lie I feel this with Better Call Saul
As much as Ioved it, objectively you can totally skip season 2 and not miss much. Just watch a recap video.
I finished season 4 a few weeks ago, I intend to finish it but need a break for a bit
There is always another option that you're tasteless but it's always easier to blame someone else 🤷🏽♂️
The boys, I watched 3 seasons waiting for it to be good but never did. Only homelander and fish guy was peak.
Gintama, gave up after 35 painful episodes.
With friends like that, who needs enemies?
no need to look elsewhere, if you can just fight with them. btw, nice username bro
They just overhype broo
This is me with video games. Ive tried The Witcher 3 so many times.

Nah that’s on you for knowing what your homies into. One always gotta know if your homies got trash taste or peak.
Me: How's season 3? Is it as good as 2?
Him: Yeah it might even be better.
Season 3:
Well the first episode always dictates my decision
Everyone who ever told me to watch JoJo
I truly like only first season
Yeah 4 seasons in and there was like 1 good season
I've been told that Highschool DxD gets better. I don't care, it's trash. There's no material to it, it's just pure fan service bordering on hentai.
"All you have to do is make it to season..."
"No thanks"
