• Have to balance out the player's experience of the god awful turning of the Orowyrm.

It's hilarious that Orowyrms are canonically that bad at turning around.

To be expected from the Duviri Bull Worm

I mean when it's bigger than most towers I too would expect it to have the turning radius of a school bus.

  • cus you use the regular turn for adjustments, and you use the drifting mechanic to actually turn where you want

even then when i try to do small adjustments it turns way too fast

when you’re a warframe it isn’t hard to just dig a foot into the ground to turn on the spot

    Found the gta 4 player

  • Well, it wasn't always like that. When it was first released it was like a regular motorcycle and it was so clunky that it was basically unusable on most tiles only on the open roads it was usable.

So they turned down the turning radius, turned the slow backwards waddle into a super tight turn and increased the reaction timing.

Then the bikes bugged around and were usable everywhere with a little trick.

So they turned it into a feature that you know can ride your bike everywhere.

You used to be able to even get on your atomicycle in space during railjack missions. Then when you got off, you could use Warframe abilities and weapons in space. This pared with grendal allowed people to eat ships whole.

  • Hot take : the way the atomicycle drives is great we're just too used to other video-games making bike driving way worse.

    edit: typo

There hasn't been a game that made motorcycles so fun to ride since True Crime NY.

The bike here I get off as soon as I can because a 2 degree change in geometry has you lose all momentum. The drifting is fun though.

The bikes in Cyberpunk are pretty good - and Ghost Recon Wildlands

Yeah, but that requires I play a game made by devs that don't know what they're doing, and something made by Ubishit.

other games motorcycles make sense, you're driving a heavy enough machine with an amount of traction on the road, it isn't going to turn 90° if you ever so slightly turn the steering

I totally get you, but posit this: It's a video game and I don't care, I don't want to have to plan my turns 3 days in advance in any non-driving game and especially in Warframe.

But I'll grant you this : it's a crime that we can't do an Akira drift in Warframe.

Do you mean the slid or the stop, since the drift lasts as long as you want it too by holding the button, and you can go straight with it.

the stop it's not an akira drift if it doesn't stop it's just a regular drift

idk turning just feels garbage and slippery in warframe imo

like the turning is way too tight for the streets it was seemingly designed for

its the gauss problem, where you're moving and turning too fast and just end up slamming into everything because the controls just feel weird

  • Whatever the media used in the clip is, I gotta hear that last part

it's from one of the hobbit films

  • I wish atomicycle could pass through more objects

  • I wish we had more areas to let loose our arsenal of vehicles. We have tons of vehicles but only three middling open world areas. It feels like ass trying to turn or use them in the core content of the game.

It doesn't help that when in those areas you'll only use archwing because it's the fastest.

  • Don't let this post distract you from the fact that this dwarf palmed a red hot ingot and held it steady for the hammers over his head. Then he casually replaces it into the embers of a forge...

  • I think the atomicycle is just reusing the same code as the normal player movement with some values changed, which is why it feels so off for a vehicle

  • Should have seen them during the 1999 demo. They were even worse - turned on a literal dime and handled like you're on ice with wheels covered in butter.

  • You're meant to turn by pressing the crouch button, and that will retain your speed if you release the button not too late. But that's for straight lines.

Most maps, and even a lot 1999 tiles are not long or wide enough to use the bike. Then it's a rounded corner. It's not great. Once again, something that feels made for a different game as there's nothing to use it with.

  • I spent so many hours doing that race course challenge to the point that I now race through all sorts of levels on the 'cycle because I got good enough at drifting.

  • I definitely like this more over having to make 3 point turn when i want to go back

  • Yeah I find you gotta hit the drift to make any proper turns, but it's still amazing when you figure it out and start flying through, maybe it's my experience as a gauss player and not being able to turn very well has translated into hitting the cleanest 90° turns you've ever seen but it's definitely got a learning curve

  • Just turn your camera. If you have to make more than 90 then quickly tap the button for that direction.
