  • Yaaa every day I’m munching Zyrtecs like it ain’t no one business.

  • If you can, an air purifier helps for inside your home. For me at least. I have a Phillips model.

I also agree with this. This year is the first year I’ve had one, and it’s in my bedroom and it’s been so good for my hayfever

  • Go get yourself some Dymista, legit life changing this season for me.

Seconding this. I bought it after seeing it rec'd this year and it has saved me. Combine with a good antihistamine eye drop, and when they aren't completely solving the problem I go back to old faithful Polaramine, and I haven't had another bad day since buying them.

This, I suffered from terrible symptoms for years and antihistamines never did anything for me. Finally gave a variety of corticosteroid nasal spays a go and nearly eliminated my symptoms.

Even though not that popular I personally use Beconase. Just worked for me, even at 1/4 dose, without side effects that I had from a few others. I have not actually tried Dymista so might give it a shot at some point. I recommend OP just trying a few and see which works best for you. Don't be afraid of the word 'steroid'

Yeah corticosteroids will just about alleviate any inflammation, you don't wanna use em all the time tho

Totally agree. I actually only qtr dose (shot a day instead of 2 twice a day) and only start taking day of a cool change or if warnings.

I had some side effects from others like Rhinocort which gave me my first ever bloody noses

Agree - Dymista is life changing but you need to take it regularly. As a side bonus taking it when I contracted Covid this year significantly reduced by symptoms - now backed up by multiple validated studies (but you have to be taking it regularly at the time you contract Covid for it to help)

This. Combo of steroids and antihistamines nails it for me

Also I recently got onto prescription antihistamine eye drops which have been amazing. Sadly very expensive, but amazing.

I’ve been on Dymista for the past few years and it’s been great.

  • Yeah it's bloody awful 😖

  • Yes, very very bad for me the last couple of days. Don't know why but I can definitely say this year is perhaps the worst year of hayfever suffering for me. I am taking demazin but seems like not working. Should I change to Telfast?

My doctor did recommend changing active ingredients every few years!

I had poor hay fever for years and it suddenly disappeared when I was about 25. But over the last couple of days it’s come back with a vengeance. It’s been so long I hadn’t anything in the house.

    Now stocked up 😁

  • Yah yesterday was similarly fucked

  • All the extra Grass Pollen's coming from the MCG.

  • Yes! I honey feel like I've been hit by a truck today. Sneezing, headache, it's the worst. I can't recall it being this bad in previous years. Especially for this long. Normally Sept-Nov I get bad hayver.

  • I am dying ova here.

  • Ohhhhh. I thought there was extra dust or something, I've been sneezing nonstop

  • Use Phenergan (DROWSY) or Demazin 6hr and Dymista spray hopefully it works

  • Oh cool, I thought there was something wrong with me recently lol

  • I didn’t know there is tracker for that! No wonder I kept running out of Zyrtec so fast 😭

  • It’s fucked, but almost every year is bad in Melbourne. I think 2023 might have been a milder year, but it’s bad this year.

  • Yes, the MCG curator.

  • Pretty good today, seems the worst of the allergies has passed for me

  • Yep telfast and night and claryine in the morning for the past two months. Plus dymista and eye drops and inhalers. It's probably too much but I struggle to breathe otherwise

  • I say it on every hey fever thread every year...

    Mask up.

  • Sorry guys doing some mowing

  • It's my eyes this year that are taking the worst of it - and it appears Zaditen is no longer a thing (I need to avoid the preservatives in most drops)

  • Only for the last two months!!

  • Ohhh so this is what is going on, yes I’m copping it bad currently. Wonder how long this is going to last?

  • It mainly affects my eyes and I've literally had days lately where I struggled to see lol

  • foolishly thought i’d avoided this year’s spring hayfever season but have been sputtering and dripping like a nasty old car since the start of december too

  • I assumed it was just me having a skin reaction today!

    bloody pollen

  • Every single day for the past few months i’dmve been suffering. I have to take hayfever tablets multiple times a day just to cope

  • I have one. Plane and Olive trees are extreme, Eucalyptus and Cypress are high, and Birch and fungal spores are moderate

thank you for your service, Admiral!

  • Up in Ballarat but yeah. Bad headache and congestion last few days.

  • Yes. I don’t even get hayfever usually.

  • What the fuck I was wondering why i had like, 4 sneezing fits today.

  • Nope, today I'm not suffering as bad as you are.. But for most of my life I did!

I did desensitization treatment (immunotherapy) to treat my severe allergy to grass pollen and I can say it has definitely worked for me. I havent finished the course yet, Ive still got four months of a three year course left to go, but it's reduced my symptoms by around 90%.

In the past, on a day like today Id be miserable. All day Id be sneezing, itchy eyes, litres of snot, inflammed and itchy throat and sinuses etc. But today I sneezed a bit and had a runny nose for about 10 minutes and thats it.

I've tried every antihistamine, every nasal spray. None of them worked for me. Im actually surprised to read people saying some of the nasal sprays and stuff work for them becasue Id come to the conclusion they were all bogus and totally inactive, so little did they help me. The only antihistamine that had any effect at all for me was Allertine.

If you're interested and havent heard of it look into immunotherapy for pollen allergy. Youll be tested to see what specifically you are allergic to. Then you undergo controlled exposure for months to train your immune system to tolerate it. You can do a three year course of monthly subcutaneous injections, or a course of tablets which is less invasive but also slightly less effective than the injections. I opted for the injections because I wanted the maximum improvement possible. It's had a big impact on my quality of life, I wish Id done it decades ago!!!

  • Sounds like a lot of sick leave right here.

  • We’ve been mowing the lawns more to stop the seeding

  • Any local/indigenous remedies anyone is aware of?

Allergy pills. That’s it. I don’t think anything else is really proven to do anything unless you go to an allergist and do desensitisation

  • 2 zyrtec and dymista nasal spray in the morning and I’ve been better than I’ve been in years.

  • Me and my allergist appointment isn't until March 😭

  • Yes! Terrible runny nose and sneezing the last few days.

  • I thought this type of hell was over being late December but apparently not 😭 “the Claratyne it does nothing” 😂
