All we saw was a pair of legs in the background but those sent chills through my body because what the hell is Cyclops throwing absolutely everything at while the Sentinels are behind him?
I can't believe it's taken us this long to get comic book accurate Cyclops in the films and it's so nice of them to get Roger Federer to come back to play him.
Honestly I love everyone else that's going to be in Doomsday but I am 100% absolutely the most excited to see the X-Men show up because whilst there were other Marvel cartoons that were on reruns on TV for a lot of us growing up, the X-Men struck a particular chord for those of us who felt like outsiders, and they gave us a kind of a home or at least a narrative space to feel seen in.
Also I used to purposely buy reflective sunglasses that reminded me of Cyclops all the time just so I could feel like him a little bit lol
Patrick and Ian meanwhile are just going to tear us apart with their acting and it will be glorious!
Just my guess but its more sentinels and he unleashes a 360 degree upwards optic blast like a nod to the cartoon opening sequence, im probably wrong though haha
Had a whole Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four theory that a lot of people here thought was going to be correct because of how good it was but it turned out to be absolutely wrong because they went with something far far more simple lol

The Department of Damage Control has launched a full-on assault against the X-Men believing that they are taking out potential threats and are doing some good for the world but they wind up actually being the puppets of Doom and soon discover that they have inadvertently killed off some of the world's greatest protectors...and also they've suddenly lost control of the Sentinels entirely.
This teaser basically then contains imagery from their last stand given this particular context and we wind up only getting a handful of the X-Men surviving who will be able to play a part in the events of the film and what comes after moving forwards.
The rest of the world is kind of unaware of these events though but they do wind up seeing mutants turn against the Sentinels en mass as well as the Sentinels basically going bonkers crazy around the world at the same time, and are more or less caught in the crossfire between them and whatever the hell else Doom has planned.
Its been a while for me since it felt good to speculate about upcoming mcu storyline mate, literally the last time was end game so im happy to read anyone's theory😊 hope it ticks all the boxes for you when it releases🤘

You know I've always kind of wondered who exactly made the costumes for that particular X-Men movie, like in universe who did Charles get to actually fabricate them?
And did whomever made them actually make a mistake with the colors and just decide to dye everything black to cover up their mistakes, like how you see with some silk screen shops nowadays?
With how much moving around Wolverine does, black would be very insulating, and I'm guessing that would cause a whole lot of sweating and unnecessary heat buildup that he would not enjoy at all because that guy is from Canada for crying out loud!
I dont think these are scenes from the movie, I dont think any of the teasers have much to do with the movie at all. I think they were just shot for the teasers.

I remember, I think after the first X-Men 97 trailer, that somebody posted something like "Mutants should think of Cyclops like how baseline humans think of Batman" and TBH I can't get that line out of my head.
That's actually a very good comparison. By and large good, moral, respectable people, but can be pushed into rebelliousness if the situation warrants it.
The only major difference I can think of is that Captain America would not cheat on his wife via psychic link, which Cyclops totally did lol.
As far as I'm aware, the only relationship scandal type thing that 616 Cap has ever had is him having a relationship in his private life as Steve Rogers, where Jessica Jones was hired to track the woman down by her "concerned sister". Then the girlfriend was killed by political operatives in an attempt to fabricate a phony cover-up by the US government for political purposes.
And none of that was actually Steve's fault or involved him in any way, and there was no infidelity involved. It was mostly just Jessica Jones being tricked by political fixers, and exposing the scheme.
I think it's a little extra layer to cyclops by having his power be more or less a pure weapon. It's just such a good power to have on one of the main good guys. He is constantly looked at as dangerous.
And it’s always good to remember that the dude is absolutely jacked, basically peak human physical fitness, and it has nothing to do with his mutant powers. He just trains and works out relentlessly because he knows the lives of his teammates and innocent people may depend on his ability to win a fight.
i dont know shit about cyclops than what has been shot in the movies, so whats so special/good about him that he should be view, held on a much higher position? im genuinely curious. i know that his power is something about his eyesight being connected to another dimension? so the red energy is the light from there? doesnt it sound like just somewhat amplified version of superman's heat vision? is there just no limits to how much he can output? what other feats does Cyclops have in the comics?
He's got amazing leadership skills, often taking over control of the entire X-men when Xavier is otherwise unable to due to either death, being in another galaxy, another dimension, or whatnot. He was also many times the very first student to Xavier, so he's had ALL of that time to learn, lead, and gain trust of the entire school and mutant community as a whole.
He's an extremely skilled fighter who doesn't just rely on his eyeblasts to fight. They aren't heat either, but pure concussive force because his eyes were at one point portals to "The Punch Dimension." He's also an alpha class mutant, of which theres only something like 20 total, something he shares with his brother Havok who has a different sort of energy projection.
If you dont want to read decades of comics, watch the animated Xmen series and you'll get a good taste on a good Scott. Even if you dont want to watch actual 90s era stuff, '97 does him great.
Im reading this thread and I didnt realize how dirty they did Scott in the movies. I do recall thinking* it was wack how they got rid of him.
I grew up watching that Xmen series and I do faintly recall him being more vocal and leading the xmen to battle. I need to rewatch that series.
If you want a better idea of the character, check out X-Men '97. You don't need to watch the original 90s X-Men show to understand what's going on (even though it's technically a continuation of it). I personally hadn't seen the original and I had no issue whatsoever with '97. As long as you have a vague idea about who each of the characters are, you should be able to keep up. It's SO good, and not a huge time commitment.
In terms of sheer tactical brilliance, he’s outmatched by almost no one. He’s always thinking ten moves ahead, and his backups have backups.
He’s a great leader in general and a great teacher too, and is arguably the reason mutankind didn’t die out after The Decimation (when 90% of all mutants on earth were depowered).
Yea, never in the world would I have imagined this could be a possibility. Back when they were still making MCU movies AND X-Men movies. Things seemed so bleak. But now….. wow.
Even when the first Avengers movie came out, I’d have never thought I’d see a day when the Avengers and the OG X-Men would be in the same movie together, let alone with Cyclops in his vintage 90s suit, and that’s not even counting the other movie characters that haven’t been revealed yet.
Like I'm honestly psyched to see Night Crawler again, although I hear Alan didn't have a fantastic time with how they filmed the character the way McKellan was filmed as Gandalf in the Hobbit films.
But man even if those set pics were ai, it would be cool seeing something close to that in the movie
It fills me with optimism for the future honestly. After almost 20 years and 30 or so movies, it was beginning to feel like they've run out of juice. But even if Doomsday doesn't resonate with audiences, being able to start a new X-Men franchise across movies and TV will surely keep people engaged.

Unpopular opinion, but I kinda hope so. They're really milking this casting from 25 years ago. Sorta tired of the nostalgia factor. Shame it wasn't McAvoy and Fassbender.
I love McAvoy and Fassbender, but Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are on a different level in terms of the public. I hope they get a nice send off, and going forward we have the other two somehow.

You're probably 100 percent correct but man idk how they're gonna do everything with all these new characters and sort of tie up all the scattered(ness) about them without doing some "LOTR Extended Edition" style movie times like 3.5 to 4 hour movie lengths.
They didn't shoot back-to-back like they did with Infinity War and Endgame, which only had 4 weeks between productions. Secret Wars will start filming mid-2026 and last about 6 months, and yeah, they are aiming for release a year after Doomsday. Also, they're likely going to do some additional photography for Doomsday early this year.
From what we’ve seen, it looks so much better than recent MCU movies. Not that Thunderbolts or F4 look bad, but seeing the post credits scenes there was a noticeable jump in quality. If anything, doomsday will at least look great.

I suppose Spider-Man doesn't need as much build up. He is the biggest character Marvel have, people will watch a Spider-Man movie even if the public have gone of the MCU generally.
Easy to do so. They despite more recent years of criticism built a massive multi generational fan base and these Avengers sequels would always too much of a “comfort food” for the the public to not get behind. Nah, it's been done three times now. Hela, Steve, and Jane. After three you're getting diminishing returns and it cheapest the whole thing. Magneto should not be capable of manipulating Mijolnir, imo. If only because Mijolnir enchantment is based on "magic" and Erik's powers are based on "physics". You forgot Vision who was the first one to pick it up. Those 4 have been able to wield mjolnir, I don’t think magneto can actually wield it but rather manipulate it. Pretty sure he’s been shown to be able to manipulate Uru before
Not after the enchantment, but she was depicted with it in the ceiling mural of Odin's conquest. So technically she was worthy of it in that way. I'd argue it does kinda count cause the enchantment is essentially Odin's permission.
You're not wrong but Fox was the first to try out a big comic movie franchise. They had to figure it out. Even Feige was part of the first few X-Men movies. They had no idea how to handle an ensemble film properly.

Yeah, does seem like Doom will be merciless for a lot of characters, which is hype to see but seeing Ian and Patrick 's iconic characters laid to rest I think will hit hard. From a writing standpoint, I get it.
They're both really just too old to keep doing this forever. It's time for them to have a real last stand. Which is what this looks like. The X-Mansion looks like it's toast.
I felt like I should of been excited by the Steve Rogers trailer, but honestly, I really wasn't. I'm still not sold on the idea of RDJ returning and that trailer felt like an extension of RDJ coming back.
The Thor one didn't really show much, just confirmed serious Thor is back and that he is seemingly pretty worried about Doom.
But also, the Wakanda, Namor + F4 teaser was great too. That one got me just for the fact that we’re finally getting a meaningful team-up movie for this saga.
Steve Rogers and Thor are legacy characters at this point. OG X-Men, awesome, because doing Cyclops justice alone is great, albeit nostalgia bait. Wakanda, Namor and F4 are Multiverse Saga characters. Let’s make something of them man 😤
Had the chance to see this straight in IMAX first & this is by far the best teaser to come. Seeing Scott Summers at his best & this is only the glimpse to it.

I've claimed my dedication would drop off heavily after Endgame, and that's true. I still watch em online but I think I've only been in the theater for a couple of the films and I haven't gotten around to some of the shows and that doesn't much bother me.

Look I understand that Marvel’s post Endgame track record hasn’t been too cohesive but with that being said it’s hard NOT to feel some sort of extreme nostalgic hype seeing the X-Men on screen again
Even as someone who only watched the fox X-men because of the MCU looking like it would use the characters, and had never interacted with anything about the X-men before, this has me excited.
It’s nice but I also feel like we’ve said goodbye to them multiple times already. Days of Future Past could’ve wrapped Fox X-Men for me personally, at least as far as Stewart & McKellen go.
That said, I’m sure seeing them share the screen with the current MCU roster will get me hyped.

I got tricked last week into watching an AI generated trailer thinking it was the real teaser shortly after the Thor one released and I gotta say its scary how close it was to the real one.
Both featured the school partly destroyed. Both had Charles and Erik together playing chess. Both ended with Cyclops ripping his visor off and doing a full power beam.
Did the trailer description for this get leaked or something? Only difference was that AI one had Beast and an additional scene of Cyclops in civilian clothes, and his traditional blue and yellow suit was much brighter.

He's basically the glue that holds the xmen together, their best fighter, and their leading commander.

It fills me with optimism for the future honestly. After almost 20 years and 30 or so movies, it was beginning to feel like they've run out of juice. But even if Doomsday doesn't resonate with audiences, being able to start a new X-Men franchise across movies and TV will surely keep people engaged.

I love McAvoy and Fassbender, but Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are on a different level in terms of the public. I hope they get a nice send off, and going forward we have the other two somehow.

You're probably 100 percent correct but man idk how they're gonna do everything with all these new characters and sort of tie up all the scattered(ness) about them without doing some "LOTR Extended Edition" style movie times like 3.5 to 4 hour movie lengths.
That comic panel to life of Cyclops looks crisp. This trailer was the best so far. And the colour grading looks absolutely brilliant
They wrapped the principal filming months ago, so they have over a year to do VFX and editing. This movie should look great.

They didn't shoot back-to-back like they did with Infinity War and Endgame, which only had 4 weeks between productions. Secret Wars will start filming mid-2026 and last about 6 months, and yeah, they are aiming for release a year after Doomsday. Also, they're likely going to do some additional photography for Doomsday early this year.
Probably over 2 or 3 years for vfx. They start the vfx for these movies early. They started vfx for infinity war in like 2016
From what we’ve seen, it looks so much better than recent MCU movies. Not that Thunderbolts or F4 look bad, but seeing the post credits scenes there was a noticeable jump in quality. If anything, doomsday will at least look great.

I suppose Spider-Man doesn't need as much build up. He is the biggest character Marvel have, people will watch a Spider-Man movie even if the public have gone of the MCU generally.
A teaser with Spider-man, Punisher and the Hulk is more than enough to fill theaters. This is shaping up to be a good year for Marvel Fans.

Easy to do so. They despite more recent years of criticism built a massive multi generational fan base and these Avengers sequels would always too much of a “comfort food” for the the public to not get behind. Doomsday and Secret Wars will just be some of the easiest money and record breaking successes Disney has ever had. Too many stars and iconic characters.

Cyclops is the main character in X-Men 97. He has 3-4 scenes of baddassery where he unleashes in that series it's very worth it.

Nah, it's been done three times now. Hela, Steve, and Jane. After three you're getting diminishing returns and it cheapest the whole thing. Magneto should not be capable of manipulating Mijolnir, imo. If only because Mijolnir enchantment is based on "magic" and Erik's powers are based on "physics". Magic should be able to overcome physics. Just my 2 cents though.
You forgot Vision who was the first one to pick it up. Those 4 have been able to wield mjolnir, I don’t think magneto can actually wield it but rather manipulate it. Pretty sure he’s been shown to be able to manipulate Uru before

Not after the enchantment, but she was depicted with it in the ceiling mural of Odin's conquest. So technically she was worthy of it in that way. I'd argue it does kinda count cause the enchantment is essentially Odin's permission.

I started reading some comics halfway through last year, and man, Cyclops got done so dirty in those movies.
My favorite X-Men run is Whedon’s Astonishing. He gave Scott some hype moments that are quite memorable.

You're not wrong but Fox was the first to try out a big comic movie franchise. They had to figure it out. Even Feige was part of the first few X-Men movies. They had no idea how to handle an ensemble film properly.
That being said now that Marvel has all of their properties back I think were about to get a new age in comic book films. Its gonna start slow like Phase 1 but I think were about to see some truly great stuff on film in the next few years.
To be fair the only people that got any kind of consistent presence in those were Logan, Charles, and Erik.
For real. Seeing this rendition of Marsden (who I always thought was a solid cast choice) as our boy with the proper treatment... So hype.
Marvel may have fumbled the ball a bit these last few years with some of their IPs, one things they've always done well, for the most part, is getting the characters and their costumes down. This LOOKS like the Cyclops we've always wanted.

Yeah, does seem like Doom will be merciless for a lot of characters, which is hype to see but seeing Ian and Patrick 's iconic characters laid to rest I think will hit hard. From a writing standpoint, I get it.
They're both really just too old to keep doing this forever. It's time for them to have a real last stand. Which is what this looks like. The X-Mansion looks like it's toast.

I felt like I should of been excited by the Steve Rogers trailer, but honestly, I really wasn't. I'm still not sold on the idea of RDJ returning and that trailer felt like an extension of RDJ coming back.
The Thor one didn't really show much, just confirmed serious Thor is back and that he is seemingly pretty worried about Doom.

I've claimed my dedication would drop off heavily after Endgame, and that's true. I still watch em online but I think I've only been in the theater for a couple of the films and I haven't gotten around to some of the shows and that doesn't much bother me. But this? THIS? ....yeah I'm excited again.

Look I understand that Marvel’s post Endgame track record hasn’t been too cohesive but with that being said it’s hard NOT to feel some sort of extreme nostalgic hype seeing the X-Men on screen again
Even as someone who only watched the fox X-men because of the MCU looking like it would use the characters, and had never interacted with anything about the X-men before, this has me excited.
It’s nice but I also feel like we’ve said goodbye to them multiple times already. Days of Future Past could’ve wrapped Fox X-Men for me personally, at least as far as Stewart & McKellen go.
That said, I’m sure seeing them share the screen with the current MCU roster will get me hyped.
For decades, Cyclops has been an afterthought in X-Men movies. He's either nothing more than an obstacle for Wolverine or just some lame, uncool character meant to prop up others.
Finally, in this brief trailer...we see Cyclops at his best and in a comic accurate costume. It took 26 years, but damn! Worth it! 😊

Yeah, I have a feeling "Doomsday" will be a lot of set pieces with 3-6 heroes on screen at one time, like Infinite War. We'll have a couple X-Men/Avengers together in the third act, but I don't see Steve and Erik trading war stories about WWII.

I got tricked last week into watching an AI generated trailer thinking it was the real teaser shortly after the Thor one released and I gotta say its scary how close it was to the real one.
Both featured the school partly destroyed. Both had Charles and Erik together playing chess. Both ended with Cyclops ripping his visor off and doing a full power beam.
