That trailer was edited really well. The tone doesn’t even feel MCU. It feels like an Apple+ show with a superhero veneer as its backdrop, not its focal point.
Man, I’m amped. So much opportunity for meta jokes.
Honestly, I hope we get more variety in tones in the shows and movies. I'd love seeing Wonder Man, Daredevil, and Vision Quest all have different styles, tones, and feels.
And he also considers Vision a brother since Vision's initial personality was based on Simon's brain scan. At least once upon a time. I don't know what's been retconned anymore.
He also started out as a villain technically but it doesn't look like that'll be included here, particularly since there probably won't be any Avengers connection here.
Which never made sense to me because Vision is sweet and innocent, and Simon is famously an asshole in the comics. Like, enough of an asshole that he's been kicked out of the Avengers multiple times.
Don't know how far they'll go in the show, but in the comics he's way up there in terms of power. Like, just under Sentry or Thor in terms of powers and strength.
If I recall correctly, and I might not since it is a very long time since I read the comics, I don't think he is actually human anymore. He is "ionic" energy that thinks it is human. He is as powerful as you say and fully immortal to boot. Again, it is vague memory of this.
This is the kind of background world building I think has been missing since Endgame, it doesn't need to be in the forefront but enough that a rewatch gives us the lightbuld moment.
Kinda made it feel like a Wes Anderson trailer or something like that. I can’t remember if it’s the life aquatic or grand Budapest hotel trailer that has a similar feel to this with the big title cards and such, but it’s something like that
Oh that makes sense. I always thought he just took Sersi. Well either way that should have been retconned or written differently from the start because Kingo is a perfect supporting character for this and many other projects.
Yeah but that was like 3-4 years ago in-universe at this point, Eternals was late 2023/early 2024 and now we're in 2027/2028. Arishem clearly didn't judge Earth to be destroyed based on their memories or he would've been back by now, so where exactly have they been fucking off to for the last 4 years?
If they wanted to sidestep that whole thing they could’ve just had Kingo show up in this then just later imply the eternals all got mind-wiped/rebooted and sent back to earth
I know eternals don’t have an mcu future but I really feel like the best place they could have later used them would have been to do the A.X.E comics event (where the mutants reach a point they’re considered ‘excess deviation’ by the Eternals’ core programming so they are forced to attack them) and used them as an antagonistic presence while power scaling the X-Men
Kingo and half of the Eternals are currently talking a very enthusiastic walk with their planet sized creator that has the voice of Beast Wars Megatron.
I have no idea who or what wonder man is but this actually feels like the show I’ve been wanting
A seemingly normal story within this superhero universe where normal people are interacting and we see that point of view (probably not a big focus) but I like the idea of more shows set in this universe.
Like maybe a sitcom where it’s some low level street hero who wants to be an avenger one day, but in more of the time of like friends, or even an office type show where it’s like a random insurance office dealing with superhero damage claims
I thought She Hulk was fantastic and I'm not afraid to say it! If you can separate it from super hero world and realize you're watching a law based sitcom, it really worked.
My only real complaint about She-Hulk is that I wish the law parts had been a little more law-based. I don't need it to be accurate, per se, just bring it up to Suits level or something.
I don't know why you're getting downvoted for this. The writers admitted they knew nothing about the legal side of things and it definitely shows. In an otherwise excellent show, the legal side is a huge misstep.
Half baked reddit-level idea: by the end of Secret Wars, the entire MCU will turn out to have been a fictional franchise set within the universe of Wonder Man.
I think there is a guy with a carboard box and duct tape holding the entire universe together out there. Hopefully it holds up or we'll get another Marvel Vs DC
This looks really good! A little silly with enough drama to let the performers shine. I don't know how well watched it will be but I think it has a lot of potential to be very good.
If they keep this tone through the season and don’t have it devolve into an ill-fitting/boring action set-piece finale once the powers come out, this could be a heater.
Love everyone involved, wish the Bob Odenkirk rumors were true but Ed Harris is a good get. This is a well-done trailer that feels like the kind of freshening the MCU needs.
Damn this is such a well-edited trailer. And the music is chef's kiss. Also, glad to finally see his powers and the DODC. I love where this is going and I hope the show is just as good.
They’ve been doing different things since before then. Remember when everyone would always praise Winter Soldier for being a spy thriller and Ant-Man a heist film. Hell even further back you’ve got Thor playing around with clear Shakespearean influence and First Avenger looking like the rocketeer. The MCU playing around in different genres is pretty old hat at this point
Winter soldier was a good spy thriller. They could have done exactly that but a TV Show with secret invasion but they pussied out. The first episode was such a good setup
The people who complained most about the formula weren't showing up anyway, & continued not showing up when they broke formula.
Meanwhile, the people who only wanted the formula also didn't show up when they broke formula.
This is in the same lane as She-Hulk. A show that focuses on characters who have powers and exist in a world where others do too, but are just living normal lives with normal professions and aren't engaged in heroics....until/unless the plot pushes them into that situation.
Presumably it'll be something different until the last half an hour where everyone has a big fight screaming at each other, shooting rays that clash in the middle etc etc.
At first yes but it was later revealed he has way more powers lol. He just didn't one what he was fully capable of so he just thought he had super strength but he keeps learning more about his abilities
It's definitely been a long time then. This looks very similar to the Wonder Man I remember from the Busiek run, short of the full-on ionic energy form.
I personally cannot wait for this show that looks quite funny and an interesting spin on superhero films and tv to devolve in its final episode into two people hovering in the sky firing laser beams at each other...
I feel like this is gonna be a big flop for Disney+. The concept just seems to hyper specific to the experience of aspiring actors in LA, which ain't exactly a broad demographic. But that might just be my personal thing. I never really like movies/shows where it feels exactly like it was made by actors for actors because your average person isn't necessarily gonna relate to that.
The editor of that trailer deserves an award
It is indeed masterful
it is "wonder"ful
Borderline Wes Anderson vibes
Needs more symmetrical framing. 😝
I dream of Wes Anderson directing a Marvel movie.
Very A24
would he be in doomsday?
Hopefully. At some point.
Alright, I’m in
Right? This looks aweeeesome.
That trailer was edited really well. The tone doesn’t even feel MCU. It feels like an Apple+ show with a superhero veneer as its backdrop, not its focal point.

Nailed it with the Apple+ vibe
that last section where ben kingsley goes is you’re car you’re power? he like nah i’m using the car
I am excited
Yup. Legit wasn't before, funny how a good trailer can pull us in
exactly my thought, haha
I know nothing about Wonder Man, but I'm intrigued now.
He's Rich, is a West Coast Avenger and his brother is the Grim Reaper.
Tell me more about
He died, but then he got better.
Happens a lot around here
"Did you die?"
"Sadly, yes... but I lived."
You get killed? Walk it off.
Also was best buddies with the beast…
Join the club, buddy.
multiple times, as well.
A newt?
And he also considers Vision a brother since Vision's initial personality was based on Simon's brain scan. At least once upon a time. I don't know what's been retconned anymore.
He’s also related to Vision and to Ultron, too, isn’t he? Honestly, hope they eschew a lot of that lore, and just let Yahya and Ben Kingsley cook.
He also provided the brain pattern for the Vision in the comics so he has ties to both Vision and Wanda in the comics.
I didn't know he was rich. I'm in the late 70s and early 80s. The comics do great with his character. He's far above characters like torch.
Is a variant black like Fury or was the a director casting decision to make him non white? Just curious. Using the SLJ variant of Fury paid off.
He also started out as a villain technically but it doesn't look like that'll be included here, particularly since there probably won't be any Avengers connection here.
I doubt any of that is gonna be true for this version.
In the comics, Vision's brain is based on his.
Which never made sense to me because Vision is sweet and innocent, and Simon is famously an asshole in the comics. Like, enough of an asshole that he's been kicked out of the Avengers multiple times.
Could be a nature vs. nurture debate with that whole thing then I guess.
He banged Ms Marvel (Now Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers). Like, multiple times.
Why does he look like he's blinded by the lights in the thumbnail
He's drowning in the night.
And he can't sleep until he feels someone's (her) touch
I love this thread
(Trevor's) ;)
Blinded by the lightttt, revved up like a douche!
(I know that's not actually the lyrics, but I defy you to tell me it doesn't sound like that.)
Wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night!
My college roommate used to say douche instead of deuce.
Fear and Loathing in Las Marvel
💀💀
Bro i came to say the zame tjing thought it was the weekend vid
This would be super
DODC's gonna be leading the MCU Mutant hunt, aren't they?
Creating the first sentinels out of the stark tech they confiscated during No Way Home.
This is the kind of background world building I think has been missing since Endgame, it doesn't need to be in the forefront but enough that a rewatch gives us the lightbuld moment.
Brother… the discourse that’ll spawn if that happens 💀
I remember Tony talking about the Sentinel program in one of the Avengers films.
At the time, I was thinking it was primarily based around his automated suits, not thinking of an X-Men crossover?
When you dig into it, Tony is not a mutant of any kind, so how could he forsee any major problem with tracking mutants?
I really feel like they should have called it HAMMER.
i'm curious to see this, it reminds me of The Studio but with superheroes, and there's a cool satirical angle.
I need more “Zoe Kravitz ate way too many shrooms” type shows lol
And I need more coked up Dave Franco recaps for pretty much any show that I’m watching.
Dave Franco is a treasure
"They are NOT a micro dose!"
“They beat the shit outta me because they thought I was cheating with magic!”
“Were you?”
“OH yeah!!”
Never been a huge Zoe fan before, but her portrayal in The Studio was near perfect.
Which is funny, because this was shot before The Studio was even announced.
I literally thought the exact same thing. 😂
I just want to chime in and say this is a well cut trailer.
Good enough to convince me to watch now.
Kinda made it feel like a Wes Anderson trailer or something like that. I can’t remember if it’s the life aquatic or grand Budapest hotel trailer that has a similar feel to this with the big title cards and such, but it’s something like that
Disney always cuts a good trailer so I’m remaining cautious. That said, I’m 10x more interested in this than I was 5 mins ago.
No Kingo? Seems like an obvious inclusion
Remember where Kingo is right now?
The Mojave Wasteland?
It almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
That's Kumail Nanjiani. They kinda look alike somehow, but it's just probably just a coincidence.
I thought that was Pakistani Denzel?
Not anymore........
Hot dawg!
Ain't that a kick in the head?
He was one of the few Eternals that stayed on earth. Did I miss something in a new movie?
Arishem took Sersi, Kingo and Phastos at the end of the movie.
somehow kingo has returned
dark eternal magic
Oh that makes sense. I always thought he just took Sersi. Well either way that should have been retconned or written differently from the start because Kingo is a perfect supporting character for this and many other projects.
Eternals 2 probably would have been on the slate by now if the film had succeeded
Although, maybe not. *Eyes Shang-Chi*
It succeeded with me 😢
there are dozens of us!
Until they make Eternals 2, I think the Eternals will stay in this weird limbo sadly.
For whatever reason, this made me remember that Harry Styles was in this movie. What a trip
Ashrirme teleported all Earth Eternals to his ship.
He got yoinked off planet by Arishem
He’s protecting the wasteland.
Well…
If they wanted to sidestep that whole thing they could’ve just had Kingo show up in this then just later imply the eternals all got mind-wiped/rebooted and sent back to earth
I know eternals don’t have an mcu future but I really feel like the best place they could have later used them would have been to do the A.X.E comics event (where the mutants reach a point they’re considered ‘excess deviation’ by the Eternals’ core programming so they are forced to attack them) and used them as an antagonistic presence while power scaling the X-Men
Sounds like a fun premise
Kingo and half of the Eternals are currently talking a very enthusiastic walk with their planet sized creator that has the voice of Beast Wars Megatron.

She-Hulk does this quite well.
Legal repercussion of an Asgardian elf imitating a celebrity to scam a guy?
Can Wong sue a former student of Kamar Taj for using magic to open portals into other worlds?
Should you trademark your own superhero name? She-Hulk didn't and got into a lot of mess.
Can a superhero just go to her friend's wedding and survive being not a superhero for one day?
An immortal man who fakes his death every time he gets bored of a marriage?
Can a rich guy really fake himself into being a superhero using superhero costumes that he mishandled?
I thought She Hulk was fantastic and I'm not afraid to say it! If you can separate it from super hero world and realize you're watching a law based sitcom, it really worked.
My only real complaint about She-Hulk is that I wish the law parts had been a little more law-based. I don't need it to be accurate, per se, just bring it up to Suits level or something.
I don't know why you're getting downvoted for this. The writers admitted they knew nothing about the legal side of things and it definitely shows. In an otherwise excellent show, the legal side is a huge misstep.
I was trying to figure out if the downvotes were because I had that complaint or because I ONLY had that complaint.
Wonder how they’ll approach his power level because he’s far beyond street tier
to your last point, somewhat, but powerless with vanessa hudgens and alan tudyk might fit that itch tbh.
They're really pushing the meta self aware angle with this, so doomsday can be seen as a rebirth!
Half baked reddit-level idea: by the end of Secret Wars, the entire MCU will turn out to have been a fictional franchise set within the universe of Wonder Man.
And all of that is set within some kid's snowglobe.
And somehow connected to every single piece of media ever created
[deleted]
Everything that's ever touched fortnite is supposedly canon in each others universes now, so...
Omniverse be like
If anyone breaks out a bag of LET'S brand chips, it's all over.
The snowglobe was in the kid’s dream
Sitting on the back of a turtle
...that's balanced on the back of a giant koala.
Why is he smiling?! What does he know?!
Turtles all the way down
I think there is a guy with a carboard box and duct tape holding the entire universe together out there. Hopefully it holds up or we'll get another Marvel Vs DC
“Computer, end program.”
ok way more interesting than expected, and Zlatko Buric is in this? loved him from Superman
Am I allowed to say I’m excited for this? 👉👈
This is the internet.....so it depends on the day
You want to LIKE something?! Are you insane?!
Sorry, but you've gotta ask the guys who are pretending they'd even heard of Wonder Man before a black guy got cast in the role.
Nope. Im handing out pitchforks already
Van Kovak has an image on the board in which Captain America has worn the stealth suit from The Winter Soldier.
I can tell it's his favorite design. You & me both, Kovak. Hope it starts the slate this year from the best possible note.
Wow....they finally showed his powers and DODC guy from NWH...I'm seated!
Nah that’s Stewie tryna strike a deal
Fuck off - Logan Roy probably.
I really hope they give Arian Moayed’s P. Clearly more to do. I liked him in NWH and Ms. Marvel
I'm betting they're using them to set up Mutant persecution in the MCU.
This looks really good! A little silly with enough drama to let the performers shine. I don't know how well watched it will be but I think it has a lot of potential to be very good.

Love everyone involved, wish the Bob Odenkirk rumors were true but Ed Harris is a good get. This is a well-done trailer that feels like the kind of freshening the MCU needs.
How did I not know that? Usually I follow this stuff.
So far I have read positive things about the show, I hope they hold up and we get an entertaining show.
"Ed Harris is a good get"
It's January 1st and this will be the understatement of the year.
It's about fucking time
Ok, I’m sold. That part about Trevor being a former terrorist made me laugh so hard.
Damn this is such a well-edited trailer. And the music is chef's kiss. Also, glad to finally see his powers and the DODC. I love where this is going and I hope the show is just as good.
The teaser was good enough, I’m mot watching this—I’m in!
This looks fun.
The new season of Barry is a huge departure from last season.
Berkman with superpowers would end poorly for a lot of people.
Mostly Fuches.
Bring on wonder man we have been in a marvel drought
Disneyland eventually gave us an actual Rogers The Musical. I wonder if we’ll ever get an actual original Wonderman film.
We could only be so lucky!
I always wished there was a full version of Caged Heat as well
I need Rogers: The Musical, the original Wonder Man, and Caged Heat on a deluxe Blu-ray.
"Wonder Man will not return in Avengers Doomsday".
Wild take: this is going to be good
Ok this looks great
I haven't watched anything Marvel since.. Loki season 1, I think?
The movies have all seemed like total slop.
This show actually looks really solid
This looks like it could be pretty good. They’re trying to do something different in the MCU for a change.
Bro the MCU has been trying different things since WandaVision, where’ve you been?
They’ve been doing different things since before then. Remember when everyone would always praise Winter Soldier for being a spy thriller and Ant-Man a heist film. Hell even further back you’ve got Thor playing around with clear Shakespearean influence and First Avenger looking like the rocketeer. The MCU playing around in different genres is pretty old hat at this point
Winter soldier was a good spy thriller. They could have done exactly that but a TV Show with secret invasion but they pussied out. The first episode was such a good setup
Yeah, the MCUs strength from the start was that each movie was basically a different genre through the lens of a superhero movie.
People “hated” the formulaic Marvel movies but it turns out the Marvel formula was much better than the alternative

Hahah most likely true.
Awesome trailer, and you know why? Because ITS NOT AFRAID OF SHADOWS AND ISNT BACKLIT WITH OBVIOUS GREENSCREEN CANCER
[deleted]
The cinematography looks delicious. Most MCU projects have such a flat look to them.
Cretton was the showrunner, so that helps. :)
But Shang-Chi looked like shit.
We’re just in the MCU right now where there’s actual color grading that makes their movies look like real movies.
Super-Hero Fatigue mentioned.
I want everything about this! I want all of it! These are the vibes I want for a project like this!
that looks fun!
Honestly this looks refreshing and new for Marvel
Looks fantastic.
Can anyone tell me what his powers are and how he got them?
[deleted]
At first yes but it was later revealed he has way more powers lol. He just didn't one what he was fully capable of so he just thought he had super strength but he keeps learning more about his abilities
It's definitely been a long time then. This looks very similar to the Wonder Man I remember from the Busiek run, short of the full-on ionic energy form.
I personally cannot wait for this show that looks quite funny and an interesting spin on superhero films and tv to devolve in its final episode into two people hovering in the sky firing laser beams at each other...
This looks really fun, looking forward to it
This looks really great
I don't know much about Wonder Man in the comics but this trailer has certainly piqued my interest
That's an outstanding trailer. I love it when the trailers try to tell their own story and be their own little thing.
Ok, that looks fantastic.
I absolutely love Trevor. He needs to be in like everything marvel.
The Weeknd cameo was surprising.
Protect Trevor at all costs
Yahya absolutely rocks, I really hope he’s put to good use. This looks promising!
This looks like fun. I do enjoy going into seeing these Marvel characters with no knowledge of the backstory.
Looks peak
The ai usage killed my enthusiasm
I feel like this is gonna be a big flop for Disney+. The concept just seems to hyper specific to the experience of aspiring actors in LA, which ain't exactly a broad demographic. But that might just be my personal thing. I never really like movies/shows where it feels exactly like it was made by actors for actors because your average person isn't necessarily gonna relate to that.
And your average person usually does relate to... guys in powered armor suits? Norse gods? skinny kids dosed with super soldier serum??
I think the part that will be relatable is that he's a person who has a dream job and is trying to fulfill that dream.
They're dumping the entire show at once, which is not the norm, so they have zero faith in it.
