Hey everyone,
We’re running a Christmas campaign for our ed-tech platform where we’re offering 15% OFF on all our test-prep packages (PTE, IELTS, Duolingo, CELPIP).
We’re already doing the usual stuff:
- Social posts
- Email marketing
- Website banners
- Meme content
- Giveaway + contest
- Urgency timers
- Discount codes
- Retargeting ads
- Reels/shorts
- Blog content
Now I’m specifically looking for truly out-of-the-box and creative ideas that go beyond standard promotions.
Something that has the potential to be viral, unexpected, interactive, or highly engaging.
For example:
- Fun tools
- Gamification
- Community-driven campaigns
- Something interactive
- Something emotional or storytelling-based
- Anything disruptive or attention-grabbing
We want to do something that stands out from every other holiday campaign in the education space.
If you’ve tried or seen anything unique for holiday promotions, I’d love your suggestions.
Appreciate any inputs! 🙌

I think context matters a lot here. Location, audience mindset and even why people are buying test prep in the first place. What feels “out of the box” in one market can fall flat in another. Sometimes the most effective twist is not louder creativity but tying the campaign to a real emotional moment for your users (stress, deadlines, migration goals, etc.) instead of just the holiday theme.
I would agree with this. Context definitely matters and from what I understand the tests are all marketing toward different audiences, right? One thought is to add an extension somehow, because I would think a lot of folks don't have time to think about test-taking prep right now with their potential holiday prep and everything going on at the end of the year.
You’re asking for Christmas campaign ideas 2.5 weeks before Christmas? This post reeks of being an ad
More like needing an ad. Maybe -- like you said, it's late.
Hah fair enough. I think this is the type of post I’d expect to see 6 weeks ago. Good luck with everything!
Mystery boxes has worked well for us this Christmas

Last year, I did an email advent calendar for a bookstore
Think you can easily adapt this idea for your edtech project
Emails contained incentives - a special offer/loyalty bonus/unique promo code/partner freebie. Since this bookstore's clients were already used to frequent emails, we sent one email daily. This generated roughly 2.5% of the monthly online revenue
