As an aside, though, I don't actually see much in any ship between Kikuru and San. I like San, don't get me wrong; it's just that they're wildly different people in a way that doesn't mesh romantically, at least not in my eyes. They respect each other, yes, and they can surely like each other, but deep down, San is a testy person who has no qualms about being nasty when necessary, and Kikuru is a nice dude who can't shut his mouth when it matters but hates intentionally being mean.

Plus she's actually competent, and we can't let Kikuru partner up in the end with someone who just... isn't a problem at all and never has been.
I see Coin or Toki, first because the author seems to love their personality type the most, and also because they give something for Kikuru to bounce off (some more than others boobjoke!) while still being able to be sincere when it actually matters. They just... need to learn how to raise their baseline sincerity a bit. Especially Toki.
coin and toki seem to fit more as platonic friends than actual love interests, its types like hitamuki or noma that fit better with Kikuru, someone who can balance his more workaholic side
Toki seems to be more interested in him as a friend with benefit? There's no romantic love but she'll spend time with him and enjoy herself.
Coin I feel is a lot more romantically inclined, initially because she's used to getting pampered but has since grown actually interested.
Hitamuki Hanabata is the most promising girl for sure, She'll join him at work and not be too much of a burden once she gets her Mana Drunkeness under control.
But I'm not sure. Hitamuki is a little too naively innocent, and I'm not sure how I feel on the prospect of Hana's senpai-worship being rewarded.
Plus, the Team Konoha is simply too good, and I don't know if Hana would allow it if she were actually his partner.
Though I suppose she'd feel more confident she's not being left behind by being in a different team if she also bagged him on the reg...
Personally I can see the chemistry between Kikuru and San working out pretty well. His selflessness and tendency to take on blame for things he shouldn't would be moderated by her own selfishness and desire to take care of people she cares about. They are both deeply empathetic people and share many of the same values who just go about expressing it in very different but equally indirect ways. Big opposites attract vibes, imo. However I agree she's not endgame because the only girl for Kikuru is Noma (lol)
Hell yeah, shortstack tsundere in the race. Let's see if Reiwa can carry this series to the finish line (really feels like it depends on that god-husband atm)
