• ...oh. Oh that's not good. All of it, I mean.

So this is how we make Grenouilles.

  • Okay so human didn't magically turned into less complex from by anomaly or some kind of system, they actually getting cut down to a very simple form down bit by bit. What the fuck.

Greater powers did likely play in part, just to refine the form. But it definitely was the “prototype” phase.

    Literally "bit by bit"

  • Jesus this is probably the most horrifying reveal in the manga so far.

All the animal friends were made through some body horror surgery?

It's quite a feat considering how things were already quite unsettling even before this reveal.

the answer itself is simple... but the method, on the other hand...

  • To even defeat the monsters, they went back to the basics. But even that wasn't enough.

Akutsu's saving humanity by simplifying them... but are they really "human", when subjected to such brutal surgery? Losing so many of their body parts to become these "things"?

What happened to Yonekura and the rest of the institute?

Mr. Bunny, please put a stop to Cheshire's mad plans!

It has the added bonus that if your followers have half a brain, they are easier to control and manipulate!

  • Actually kinda hilarious that this world now rejects highly complex things, and Cheshire is the most complex character in the cast in every single way. Abilities, personality, past/backstory, hell even the Cheshire character design in Mr. Bunny's world is wildly more complicated than anything else we'd previously seen (or have seen since) in that reality. And yet, they persist.

I mean they have the power of hoard information, in essence being a walking data blackhole, so Cheshire looking more complex than everybody else makes sense

So because every "thing" has a set amount of information, and Cheshire is absorbing so many people and things on impulse, it has a lot more bandwidth than a normal human to exist without needing modification/dumbing down like Grenouille? Makes total sense and I love it.

  • It was kinda hinted before, but... what the fuck?

  • Oh, so this is the start of Grenouilles people, eh?

  • I wonder if it’s the belief of people that causes anomalies to be “condensed” instead of actual religions. If a large enough group were to perform their own rituals, it would have the same impact as to compacting all major religions into a centralized area. It could be the reason why the current world has the Task King be the universally loved being/deity.

  • Was the the Demon Core in that box? And now we know how the animal people were made. Haunting.

  • minimalism gone wild

this is a really cool way to "fight" oddities and supernatural things.

  • 28 spotted on the side of one of the boxes on Akatsu's office on page 6!!

Man can't remember when was the last time anyone managed to spot a number it has been like 2 months now!

30 was above the corner of a door on the last panel of page 3, for chapter 31

    Still missing 29, and 32

  • Not surprised by the horror surgery. Kinda figured that was the case when they first brought up the whole simplifying the human form thing.

Still, the visuals of what appears to be the prototype of which is certainly horrific enough.

  • This is an animal crossing prequel

  • This keeps getting more and more horrifying.

  • Holly shit Akutsu... so Gren and all the other frog people, were literally surgically made into frog like people, that's brutal
