does anybody know why in my daw everything will sound find but then on export my mix is coming out quieter than whats in my daw ? has anybody else had this problem or any ideas how to fix ? its been driving me nuts having to do so many extra exports and volume tweaks. i mean this for recording vocals and i use studio one if that matters
Had this exact issue in Studio One - check if you have any limiters or compressors on your master bus that might be clipping during playback but getting bypassed on export. Also make sure your export settings match your project sample rate and bit depth, that can mess with levels too
i checked and my recording and export settings were different bits. im currently clipping on export and havent had much luck with limiters. the "bypass master effects" box isnt checked. di you ever mess with the loudness panel on export ? ive never noticed mine til now
Some computers come with audio drivers that try to normalize all audio. Example, YouTubers generally have no clue so audio levels are all over the place from video to video. This tech would boost some videos and drop the levels of others to try and make everything more even.
It would also lead to if your daw is using like specific device or asio drivers but you export and playback in something using the standard computer drivers, you would hear a difference. I would check that, especially if you're on Windows.
In FL studio, the DAW has its own volume knob that's separate from the mixing board. Default settings are at 110% (don't know why). So exported songs in some media player will sound quieter. Putting the DAW volume at 100% fixes this. Your DAW might do something similar.
