None of the etb with blight has really seemed broken so far, I guess it's good vorinclex hate

Interesting that there's a condition to have a -1/-1 counter in order to remove one. Are there end step triggers to add -1/-1 counters they don't want it to work with?

    parent
    98 points lcdrambrose

Or maybe to reduce triggers in digital? This only triggers if both things are true, instead of every single end step you have an elf in gy.

This makes the most sense to me

    parent root
    59 points flowerafterflower

They're all templated this way and I think it's just to smooth out digital play by not having unnecessary triggers going off, especially on the cards that could trigger more frequently like [[Bristlebane Battler]]

    parent root
    14 points spasticity

Yeah almost certainly a choice to reduce pointless triggers in Arena.

Also makes blight triggers matter. If this triggers without a -1/-1 counter, you could line up your triggers to blight this then the counter is removed.

    2 points Tuss36

Is a bit unfortunate in the readability of it though. It's not the most complicated, but does read a bit clunkier than it otherwise would, while seeking smoothness elsewhere.

    parent root
    1 points oyooy

Yeah, seems like that's the common way of formatting it this set. I guess mentally I was comparing it to [[Heirloom Auntie]] whose trigger always has to go off because of the surveil.

Seems pretty decent, basically pay 2 mana for a 2/2 creature that can grow into a 5/5 over time.

    parent
    8 points Droox04

A 3/3 if you have already an elf in your graveyard

    parent root
    7 points Oleandervine

Well it's 2/2 until the end of that turn, in which point it could be killed by a 2 damage instant prior to becoming a 3/3.

    parent root
    3 points Tuss36

Another pedant battle has begun! Let's watch and see who embodies that Futurama quote the most while missing the point by the widest margin!

    parent root
    1 points Oleandervine

    parent root
    1 points Kale_Shai-Hulud

Coming in as a 2/2 and not a 3/3 is absolutely relevant in 60 card/limited formats, it's not mindless pedantry to point that out.

Wow, Heather Hudson's back! Her last card was the schematic version of Sculpting Steel. Really cool to see them bring back all the old artists!

There’s a part of me that is considering building like an orzhov deck around these cheap cards that can be quite strong once the counters come off, but pair it with [[solemnity]]

Another one for the [[Mikaeus, the Unhallowed]] deck. It's been eating good this set!

Can’t wait to build a Torpor Orb deck with all of these big blight creatures

    parent
    7 points MapleSyrupMachineGun

I don't think it works, unfortunately. Nothing triggers when these creatures enter; they are replacement effects.

    1 points hobomojo

    Dang, that’s disappointing.
