    Well, yes, but it's deliberately subverting the typical gendered terms to further underline her ultimate authority, because typically Kings had greater authority than Queens.

    Also if she was queen then he'd still be the King, so the line wouldn't indicate deference.

    Then did you not understand my explanation? Because with a single "wrong" choice of word I was able to infer a much more nuanced meaning. Breaking the rule informed the reader of the subtext without having to explain it.

    Knowing how and when to break the rules is as much a part of mastering a language as anything else is, check with the poets, do they always follow the same rules that you would use to write a letter?
