This particular gymnastics competition between UCLA and Oregon State is historic due to UCLA scoring a 198.875 (for those not in the know, the maximum team score in NCAA is 200), which tied for the highest team score in NCAA Gymnastics history up until 2024. Unfortunately, most NCAA Gymnastics media prior to 2010 is considered fully lost media. The only remaining pieces of media (albeit not video) regarding this particular meet are two articles and one scorebox from UCLA. The meet this tied with for the highest score (Stanford vs California) also occurred in 2004 and is lost media as well. I'm not sure if any recovery of even a short clip is possible at this point, but a last ditch effort doesn't hurt. If I could make a post for every piece of gymnastics lost media, I'd be spamming, so I want to show special interest in a team (UCLA) that was one of the greatest in the sport's history (having major Olympians including Jamie Dantzscher, Kristen Maloney, and Yvonne Yousek on the team). The sport was unfortunately not well broadcasted at the time, and I struggle to find broadcast archives from sports networks to potentially find any lede. Anything new found on this would be considered a miracle. Thank you for your time!

I remember this competition. This was the peak of my gymnastics career, timeline wise, so I was invested during this period and recorded a lot of competitions. I am still going through some tapes I have from 2000-2004, but I don’t think this is one I have.
I am rooting for you, friend.
If you get any digitized I would love to see anything you’re willing to share! There’s not a lot on YouTube right now and I’m trying to get information on many gymnasts that have none
Does the NCAA or the schools not keep events in their archives? You could try asking them but that’s probably unlikely to do anything.
I might try again just to see. There are at least minor clips of other gymnasts at other schools I know are kept in a vault not shared with us. Back in the late 00s to early 10s, some schools had YT channels and uploaded most or all of their routines. Sadly that’s not the case anymore due to copyrights and all that even though espn/fox/etc never post comps or routines themselves. We are lucky most routines posted haven’t been taken down. I always fear it happening one day :( i might give it another shot but now that it’s the holidays I feel I should wait a bit until they end
