average speed 783,2 m/s SD 3,5 m/s is this good enough? am i arrived at the point where tightening the group depends only on my skills? genuine question because i’ve seen the (almost) identical setup punching a single hole over 5 shots groups

  • A world champion shooter is not going to shrink those groups much.

You'd be looking at building a dedicated competition-level target rifle to see any improvement.

thanks, i don’t feel that this is a fenomenal grouping, but maybe is because i’m used to shoot with guys that can quite easily outperform almost every rifle you give ‘em :) i’m already in contact with a renowned gunsmith in my area for a custom rifle, but i’m a bit stuck on the caliber choice…

  • I say you're about there and then some for sure! Especially for 150m, very nice shooting.

Depending on your final use, tightening the SD could be the next improvement for long range work but we're generally talking single click elevation differences!

at this point, tightening the SD would mean going down a rabbit hole of mandrels, reamers, annealing and so and so… ;)

Mandrels? Meh. Full length bushing dies are the way. I can't speak for others, but in the last year I've become a big fan of arbor press style seating dies.

Not necessarily. I anneal my cases but otherwise I just use dirty old Hornady custom grade dies and my 308 load has an SD of 6 FPS.

My experience with SD/ES is charge consistency and using same batch (fire formed) brass.

  • That is some awesome shooting! Congrats!

I see a little bit of vertical stringing on some of them and I wonder if perhaps there is a little bit of room for improvement on the shooters side. I did see this in my own shooting and it got resolved by head position. Not saying it’s the same for you, just some anecdotal information. Good work!

i think i have a lot to improve in my shooting, thanks for the input, every bit of suggestion is appreciated!

  • I guess those rifles are expensive for a reason.

had it for a pretty good deal, 3000€ total rifle+scope, barrel almost brand new (less than 500 rounds shot), a same level build wuold have been more expensive

  • Zero reason why you would need to improve that for .308. G2g.

  • I’d be happy with those groups out of any of my rifles, even at 100m
