My kuhlis have spawned atleast 3 times I think, hard to get footage of any of the smaller ones.

  • bruh how

Well I can give details if wanted, however like most people it's not really on purpose. I have also spawn otocinclus in this tank, another fish regarded as really hard to breed(they were more intentional) so things just be working haha

This makes me wonder if they  have the same temperature shift requirements for breeding?

Parameters--- 55g tank, heavily planted i have good amounts of leaf litter in some areas, lots of wood. Decent but not crazy water flow. 7.5ph-- 180-200ish ppm hardness, nitrates always lower than 20 might even be below 10ppm. Temp is about 76f. Water changes and top ups are always cooler water, but I'm not doing more than 20%. They eat almost exclusively snails and what detritus they ingest while sifting through. I do feed the tank repashy soilent green for some loricariids however the kuhlis barely ever touch it. They also eat a bit of Bacter AE, they seem to love that more than anything for some reason lol.

My kuhlis go nuts for soilent green IF I make it with vegetable baby food instead of water!

  • This is the second khuli fry post i’ve seen today, we gotta find a fish scientist to study this and figure it out once and for all😂

Wish I could get footage of the newest ones, they are very clear with no colour for a 2 weeks or so.

  • Please post over to r/pangio. We love eel loaches there! I'm assuming this is Pangio oblonga you've bred? Would love to know group size and what sort of substrate you have!

Sure give me a little and I'll post there. As far as species that's my assumption but I am not versed in IDing them. Starting group size was about 6. I think there has been 3 spawns recently with about 2-4 findable from a given spawn. substrate is fluval black flourite sand. This area of video gets a lot more flow, most of the rest has leaf litter and mulm.

  • It would be good if you can show how the tank itself is, the Layout with the plants and such, kh and gh is important to know too, my normal striped kuhlis bred before and i want to try and figure out that triggers a spawn, what kind of filter and substrate do you use?

KH is about 90-100ppm GH about 180-200. Filter Is a canister from vevor, I also have two sponge filters that I just never removed after adding the canister a year ago. Substrate is fluval black flourite sand. *

I'll get photo of tank soon.

Thank you for this info, this is very cool to see you have small fry. In my tank i just randomly saw more adults than i bought one day. Can i dm you?

Sure, you can send a DM

  • Omg they're precious!

  • Wow. How many adult kuhli loaches are in the colony and what other fish/invertebrates are in the tank?

  • So stinkin cute!!! 🥰 Thank you for sharing!!

  • I saw some kuhli fry in person and it absolutely SHOCKED me how tiny and small they are! Like a centimeter of string worming around. Blew my mind as a kuhli lover. It's hard to get a sense of scale from your video but I know they must be precious.
