Recently, my loach has this red inflammation at his poopy area. He still is eating well and is active. Should I be concerned? Has anyone experienced the same thing?
Alrighty, I don't see worms sticking out. so prolapse is probably it. Any advice on how to deal with prolapse? ik sometimes it just goes away but I love him too much to not do anything :(
i’m a relatively new fish keeper so i haven’t had this happen to me personally, i just thought it kind of resembled the prolapses i have seen in humans (i work in healthcare lol) how are your water parameters? what are you feeding the loaches?i would assume salt soaks might help but again im not an expert. in humans we also increase fiber intake so maybe feed blanched veg only for a bit??
Just my experience but I would be concerned of bacterial infection with that much red. I would probably strongly consider a dosing of medication to be on the safe side but that's assuming it's in a tank you're able/willing to dose meds in.
At the very least I would give a incremental dosing of aquarium salt. I know that can be controversial with loaches but starting with low doses has never bothered mine. I know I'm not the first to say it but the rule of thumb is if I don't know what it is, I start with salt.
Commenting to boost, looks painful :(
yeahh, I'm sure it's not because of my parameters.. kinda clueless now
Aww poor baby i hope everything's ok
thank you
You are so welcome 🙏
it’s hard to see from this perspective bc it’s pressed up against the glass but maybe a prolapsed anus?
