I have a pair of a Hillstream loaches who will not stop breeding. I just rehomed about 40 little dudes, only to find a new round of itty bitty babies! So cute!
What species is that?! It looks like it has more color bands than my pandas had when they were teeny tiny, but that's the only species I can think of that looks at all like that.
It's a baby Hill stream! The first time I saw one I thought that a baby plecostomus had snuck in on a plant or something. They don't really look anything like they do when they mature.
Oh gotcha! I'm not 100% sure, but I asked Chat GPT to analyze some photos and it seems to think that they are Sewelia lineolata, reticulated hillstream. 😁
ChatGPT is absolutely useless at animal ID. What it is doing is guessing, because it "knows" what the most commonly discussed and sold hillstream loaches are. Those are not S. lineolata - I have a breeding colony of them. They look like something more interesting. Do you have a photo of the adults? I can probably ID them or get it close.
I have pandas, peppered and red Venezuelan, but these are definitely hillstream fry. This is my fifth or 6th spawn and I've gotten pretty used to the way they look as they grow up.
THATS A HILLSTREAM?!! holy shit I thought it was a pea puffer baby. That thing is itty bitty
I know, it's insanely tiny! There are a couple this size that I saw, which means there's probably at least a dozen more that I didn't see LOL

Right - what species of hillstream? There are tons!

Yeah, I tried researching myself and couldn't find any that looked exactly like mine. Here are a couple of the best pictures I could get.
Dang - photos aren't showing up. Maybe because I am on mobile? Would you mind sending me a DM of them?
I am super curious!
Actually...what all kinds of Corydoras do you have in there? There are some Corydoras fry that look quite a bit like that.

AWWWWWWW
This little guy is WAY too small for a hill stream!
Maybe a bump trickle at best 😂😂
