Im not very big I to poetry, but ive seen people raving about this book like it holds to secrets to the universe, and I just dont get it. To be clear i do not own this book, but ive seen some of the poems, and I dont really get the appeal. To me they just seem kind of basic. There are some I really like/enjoy in it, and its not bad by any means, but I dont think its as good as people say it is. What are your thoughts on it?
Ok, I'm a poetry snob and will likely get at least a couple of downvotes for this, but it's an example of "instapoetry," i.e., artificially profound thoughts with line breaks between them, short enough to fit in an instagram picture and obvious enough to be easily understood. It's free verse taken to its emptiest and most vapid extreme. Rupi Kaur was the biggest pioneer of this style. They're all hacks.
Never heard of it. I googled it and it looks like Instagram poetry.
Are the people you're referring to 16 years old?
LMAO
I say that like i'm throwing shade, but thats kinda part of being a teenager. When i was 16 i tried hard drugs for the first time and disappeared up my own ass reading Naked Lunch.

Never heard of it and happy I hadn't as it's boring sap meant to set a simple mind aright with thoughtless clichés as though orange juice itself was life.
Can I Borrow a Feeling?
Just looked it up, and just from the cover I can tell it’s Instagram poetry or something closely aligned with that. It’s not really poetry at all, as someone else mentioned—just people pretending to be profound while writing stuff that doesn’t actually resonate with people who read more “academic” or “prestige” poetry.
