Is it possible to do this? Basically, I want an automatic tiling window manager but with the ability to make it so chosen windows only appear at the bottom of the screen (I have my taskbar on the side) as a titlebar, then popup when my mouse hovers over them, sort of like the "automatically hide the taskbar" setting on Windows. Also, is it possible to have a setup like this on Windows?

I'm not sure if this counts as "support", so I don't know if I should post this here or in a support forum/reddit/whatever.

  • What is your desktop ?

There are many ways to tile, but by nature a tiling desktop will tile your windows, and not send it to the taskbar.

But i am sure it's possible, on Gnome some extensions tile your desktop but can be set to not handle minimized one, so you can find these ones on the 'taskbar' (aka the Dash). But idk if it can pop up when your mouse hovers.

Note that mouse hovering is natively possible, but in the overview, not the dash as far as i know.

But maybe you do not use Gnome, so...

I can switch to a desktop that allows it, especially since all the desktops I've tried so far have bad vertical taskbars so I'm not loyal to one or the other.

I don't want windows to be sent to the taskbar, I want them to be sent to the bottom of the screen as a titlebar that reveals the full window on hover (probably the easiest comparison is the way the cameras work in FNAF lol, where you hover your mouse over the bottom of your screen to bring the camera up. I want that but with SOME chosen windows, and auto-tiling windows otherwise)
