2nd this. There’s a bass pro nearby too but a lot more variety, 2nd hand, etc at Greentop. Plus they have a nice range a mile away and you can drop by and shoot right after.
3rd this. Greentop 100%. Bought my Mark 23 there. If you’re in the market for literally anything (shotgun, rifle, pistol, even AR), it’s a great place to go and handle a firearm before you buy it.
You will have to deal with dumb fucks wearing Trump
2028 hats, so be ready for that…
Do yourself a favor and straight up do not stop in Fayetteville. I say this as a North Carolinian that has spent a considerable amount of time in Fayetteville for work.
I hate generalizing a whole town but I really do not like being there. I have a grand total of zero positive experiences there after several week long work weeks there. If the base were shut down Fayetteville would 100% become a failed city overnight. It ranks as the second city I've ever been in where not being armed felt like a massive mistake, the first and top ranked being Modesto, CA
Green Top just north of Richmond VA. The old store was pretty cool in that “mom and pop place just kept getting bigger” sort of way. When Gander Mountain shut down, they moved in.
There’s also a Bass Pro a couple exits north.
In Delaware, we have X-Ring Supply two miles off of 95. It's a small shop, but I've found the people to be professional. They know their shit about Delaware and federal gun laws, their advice comes with *reasoning*, and they're super nice to new idiots. (Ask how I know that one!)
Most importantly to me as a guy who doesn't lean right in a right-leaning hobby, the politics get left at the door.
Not true. I know for a fact NC and VA both allow you to purchase shotguns or rifles if you are a non-resident. Pistols are usually where that restriction comes in.
Edit note: the pistol law is federal. But rifles and shotguns are fair game through most of the states with NY and NJ being real picky.
While not precisely true (i live in a restrictive state and some stores in other states won't sell to us) i mainly want to pull a few triggers in a store where they are cool and won't mind a "looker not buyer". Top priorities include:
- compare the triggers on mete tp9 with m&p shield plus
- hold and test trigger pull on cz shadow 2 carry.
- fondle a high end 2011 or 2
-If im going to psai hold and determine just how heavy the 16" jakl in .308 is. Is it like, only a bit less then my m1a socom 15 or a significant amount less!
I would not buy anything like a firearm or any other valuables on a road trip if I wasn’t sure where I was parking, sleeping and eating - if I couldn’t make absolutely sure whatever I bought would stay safe and secure for the duration.
Greentop! Outside of richmond

What about parts? I prefer to build, but it's hard finding places with parts available and in stock.
Came here to say Greentop. I’ve purchased New and used firearms from them. Very knowledgable and helpful
Also love my Benelli Virginian

Fayettenam? Haven’t been there since after the Tit Offensive.
I just can’t do strip club crawls like I used to back in the day.

and this is the reason why we need national concealed carry permits

Kittery Trading Post in Maine.
Probably further than you want to go but it is just off 95.
Former employee; I believe it’s the largest gun store by sqft in the Northeast
Howells in grey if you’re going a little further.
Make sure you're heading SOUTH on I-95. Except for PA, the purchasing laws get stricter the further north you go
PSA maybe
Somehow didn't occur to me that its a physical store. Lol. Thanks!
It's several physical stores, but only one is right off of 95. The one in Florence, SC, is off of 95.
Lock your doors.
Source: grew up there
The one in Savannah is only a few miles from the interstate. Traffic kinda sucks though.
I didn't realize they had one there. Good looking out.
You owe it to yourself to check out the Florence store
There's a PSA right off 95 in Savannah and a great Korean place nearby
Velocity ammo in Fredericksburg has some crazy good deals on ammo every once and awhile.
PSA has a Savannah location that's decent, but nothing compared to the flagship in Columbia, SC, which is about 1-2 hours from 95, off 26.
*Columbia
Thanks. Friggin autocorrect. Fixed it.
I'd be shocked if a Palmetto State Armory hasn't ended up somewhere along I-95.

Seconded. Great local store

Thanks to everyone who recommended Greentop. Fun stop to break up the drive.
Xcal in Ashburn VA
Springfield Outfitters , Micro NC adjacent to I-95
Springhill Outfitters
Springfield Armory, near Selma, NC. I-95, exit 101 (Pittman road, you'll see signs...) and it right on the interstate.
I can't speak for their politics, but its a great store.
PSA is in SC I believe. Not sure if it’s close to 95 or 85.
Take DE, PA, NJ, NY off of your list. Can’t buy shit :( To the downvoters, I live here.
You can't buy shit from anywhere unless you have an ID from that state
