US Government mis-classification of 'binders' as medical devices.

  • Brought to you by the Party of Small Government(tm).

These furious clowns fucking hate freedom lol.

Government so small it fits in your underwear drawer...and your bedroom. And your doctor's office, public bathrooms, in your workplace...

  • This is so stupid, and all I can do is face palm.

Is this administration going to demand that corsets and other shape wear are only for medical purposes next? Makeup? Every policy they push makes me embody “I have no mouth and I must scream” to the max.

No because limiting access to shapewear and make-up would mean the women they want to ogle would be less appealing to them. They are doing this specifically because it threatens minorities. Sadly, I am sure they will come up with other ways to oppress women that don't involve reducing the level of creepiness they are able to show.

On the other hand, making makeup unavailable would prevent people from hiding from surveilance. Do they eveb find women appealing anyway? I thought they were into toddlers.

They are into women in the sense that sexual harassment and ogling give them a power high. In terms of actually liking women, idk.

No, because there are no brakes, no checks, or no balances. They are at the point where they do what they want when they want and there are no guardrails left to stop them. We live in scary times.

They’ll lose in court for the thousandth time. They just want to scare us into the shadows. Wah wah, not gonna happen.

  • This is part of Thursdays announcement about gender-affirming care for trans youth, which would make it almost impossible for hospitals to provide the care to those patients.

Eleven companies that sell chest binders got these letters, claiming that they have "misbranded" medical devices:

The FDA sent the letters on Tuesday to 11 companies — TransGuy Supply, the Fluxion, GenderBender, ShapeShifter Apparel, Marli Washington Design, TomboyX, FLAVNT Streetwear, Early to Bed, TOMSCOUT, For Them, and UNTAG (formerly Trans-Missie) — for not registering their products as Class I medical devices for the 2026 fiscal year.

The companies have never been required to do so before, and three of them are not located in the United States.

In the letters, FDA Director Michael J. Hoffmann claimed that "these products are devices because they are intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, or to affect the structure or any function of the body."

Hoffman referenced information from the companies' websites that claim the products can alleviate gender dysphoria.

And in that Thursday announcement they said they can ban it because gender affirming care isn't healthcare. Which is another wonderful hypocrisy by this regime because if it isn't healthcare then these definitely aren't medical devices by their own admission.

The enemy is both incredibly strong but also incredibly weak ah moment

or to affect the structure or any function of the body."

Obviously none of this was thought through. Just trying to push their views and ignorance regardless of medical and human reality, as they do 🙄.

I humbly submit an idea for a protest outside his offices that involves burning bras in a very obvious and dramatized manner.

As an argument - neither binders nor bras affect the structure or function of the body; just some squishy fat and soft tissues. As support I will point to the burden of proof and challenging process required to get insurance approval of any breast driven medical treatment, like breast reductions.

Binders don't affect structure, though, do they? They're just shapewear, I thought - like bras and corsets. 🤔

  • Petty ass cartoon villain behavior.

  • I don’t get it, according to this government is treating dysphoria considered a medical treatment or not?

There is no logical consistency. They will talk in circles and twist their logic into any shape to make it fit.

The only constant is they want to kill us. And we shouldn't let them.

The USgov CDC (Center of Disease Control) has had classified Trans/Gender identity as a mental disorder for well over a decade.

Classification of Diseases, Functioning, and Disability

ICD-10-CM—the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification—is used to code and classify medical diagnoses.

CHAPTER 5: Mental, Behavioral and Neurodevelopmental disorders (F01-F99)

Disorders of adult personality and behavior (F60-F69)

    F64 Gender identity disorders

    F64.0 Transsexualism

    F64.1 Dual role transvestism

F64.2 Gender identity disorder of childhood

    F64.8 Other gender identity disorders

    F64.9 Gender identity disorder, unspecified

ICD classifications come from the WHO, not the CDC.

You are implying the World Health Organization is responsible for the Center of Disease Control's choice of classifying "Transsexualism" as a mental illness. You are incorrect.

This is from WHO as of today.

The 11th edition of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11). The newly revised ICD-11 codes includes new changes to reflect modern understanding of sexual health and gender identity.

"ICD-11 has redefined gender identity-related health, replacing outdated diagnostic categories like ICD-10’s “transsexualism” and “gender identity disorder of children” with “gender incongruence of adolescence and adulthood” and “gender incongruence of childhood” respectively. Gender incongruence has been moved out of the “Mental and behavioural disorders” chapter and into the new “Conditions related to sexual health” chapter. This reflects current knowledge that trans-related and gender diverse identities are not conditions of mental ill-health, and that classifying them as such can cause enormous stigma."

Uhhhh yes. The CDC adopted ICD-10 from the WHO, as all member states did. The CDC adopted ICD-11 back in 2019 when it was ratified. What the fuck is even your point? You quoted ICD-10, and then quoted ICD-11. Two different sets of standards are going to be different.

There are plenty of things to be mad about in this world. The ICD codes are not one of them.

See, your problem is you're thinking logically. You assume they actually want to follow their own rules when, in reality, they're just doing this as another way to hurt trans people.

These policies have no internal logic behind them. They're just weapons against one of the minorities they hate. If it doesn't align with their earlier sentiment, it doesn't matter, as long as trans people suffer.

  • They're attacking on all fronts

amazing pun! One thing they cannot away from us is that we are funny

  • There’s gotta be no way this holds up when challenged. But I don’t think that’s the point. The process is the punishment.

And the goal is to have a precedent. Even if it's challenged and repealed, they'll try it again, and again. This is them putting one feet into the door and now that they've got it opened they're going to barge in.

Each and every time they see an opportunity, yes. They knew they could get a lot of people behind the idea of 'trans bad for kids' because the average American doesn't really understand what that even means. Now they are advancing their agenda by strategically singling out small, trans owned companies who they know likely don't have the funds to fight them in court. They are horrible people who serve only themselves and those who they can benefit from knowing.

The point is to scare these companies into compliance, which is to stop offering these products and thus, helping Trans people 'live unbound' ...because this administration is chok full of assholes who think they can control every citizen. Don't allow it. As a clothing & costumer for the film & music industries for decades, I'll make my own like I did before companies offered them for sale...and give them away if I have to.

  • By classifying binders as medical devices, they’re ironically further legitimizing their use in the treatment of gender dysphoria.

  • Literally: "You sell products that help people we hate. Stop it."

  • First they came for the trans people.

Except they didn't "first" come for the trans people, they're coming for everyone they can, in british, terms, deem "scroungers".

  • the grift never ends.  everything is a medical device, so everything can be added to the health insurance scam industry.  my nail polish relieved some dysphoria.  medical device.  hats cover up dysphoric bald spots.  medical device.  however we don't fit into cishet societal "norms" constitutes a billable disorder.  then, they can scam the government to "cure" us.  their fascism is never the problem, somehow.  maybe we make that the disorder, instead.

  • Why is he always behind us, when queer people in the United States represent only a few percent of the population? Does he actually love us?

  • To affect the structure or any function of the body. Okay. So. Clothes? Clothes are medical devices now. Ain’t nobody in this world shaped the way they are naked and clothed.

definitely all bras fall under that at least

  • If anyone is scared they cant get a binder now, Underworks is notably not on this list. They sell male gynochomastia compression garments.

One of my all-time favorite binders is from Underworks, so I'm glad they missed them with this BS

  • Ironic since bob bitch tits trump could really use some support for those knockers.

If only he had testicular cancer, too

He’s got nothing down there but a mini mushroom thats shriveled up and skidmarks.

Oh he is so far past skidmarks. Hes at full blown pileup at this point. They dont call him "diaper donny" for nothing.

  • So I assume they'll also be going after Trump's girdle, yeah?

  • The next will be mandatory pink triangle in the clothes for tran people.

  • Whats next? Extra tight athletic bras? Some of us did that.

  • Ironically, this list of companies gives me new names to look into for buying new binders. Certainly gonna be supporting these companies even more after this announcement.

  • Does that mean bras need to be registered?

Nursing bras and mastectomy bras specifically, but also, literally any bra...

    Period underwear? Dr. Scholls inserts?

How ridiculous and invasive can we make this?

  • Can someone explain in stupid person terms what thos means the companies need to do? Like what does registering them as medical devices mean and how will it affect them? 😭 Is it more than just bs paperwork/fees/regulation that they then need to go through or?

While I do believe this is a targeted attack, there is merit to the FDA doing this as there is a gray area of what is considered a medical device.

Basically, a product becomes a medical device if it’s intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease, or to affect the structure or function of the body for a medical purpose.

Dr Scholl’s (the insole company) is a prime example of how to navigate this. Their insoles would seem like medical devices since they help manage foot problems however the company is very careful about their marketing to prevent being considered one by the FDA.

Companies can and do want to avoid this as it requires a lot of time and money to fulfill regulations as a medical device. They either can choose to reword their marketing or pay a lot to actually be considered a medical device.

  • I wonder if the Trump administration has ever considered the political strategy of “making life better for people?”

  • Tell the govt to fuck off and then call them extra support sports bras.

  • Apparently now "Food and Drug" also includes apparel

  • I’m sick of comments trying to make light of this shit. I’m sick of government overreach creeping into our lives and strangling our existence and freedom. Something has to change, something has to give, people are suffering everyday, and i feel like all there is to do is sit back and let it happen. The first second we try to revolt, they’ll respond with violence. It’s almost like they’re pushing and pushing in order to make us all break and legislate us out of existence for good by marking us all as terrorists. Well Pam Bondi can suck my fat nut and come get me, because I ain’t playin around anymore, do it bitch. You can’t arrest us all. I will be open, queer and against American, traditional and Christian values, fuck the world, and especially to the government, fuck you. Not agreeing with you, is not against the law, and we WILL win, through non violence, because thats what they want, to make us just as psychotic as they are, don’t give in, RESIST.

  • These people are going to need an FDA-regulated back brace for the injury sustained from how far they were reaching to get this rationale

  • Then they'll request the data/info on everyone who purchases these "medical devices".

  • $10 they don't go after men's "moob" compression tops. if they go for binders, maybe those moob compression tops should be the go to. Not as effective imo, but could be an alternative?

  • Soon they will demand all women wear corsets and have blond hair.
