Trump is laying the foundations. Now, I'd love to be proven wrong but the signs are very similar to how other authoritarian regimes have popped up in the past, so unless someone does something to combat this, I might not be.

There's some irony that the tactics used lately against marginalized people look awfully similar to the same ones used for centuries and looked upon with distain in grade school classrooms with the comfortable distance of time and geography.
