Status: Looking for both GM and Players

--

Hi! My name is Raven (she/her), and as the title says, I'm looking to start a group to play the game Star Trek Adventures! While you should know the general themes of Star Trek and should have a rough idea of how a TTRPG works, newcomers to the system (as well as people who only know Star Trek lore through YouTube essays because they can't afford Paramount+) are welcome!

I will be providing the quickstart guide, and I've already found a free character sheet creator that we can use, but I'll need someone else to provide the full book if we need that. In addition, this campaign will be using safety tools--notably Lines And Veils, The X-Card, and Session Zero. In case you're not sure what those are, here's a brief description of each:

Lines and Veils: Everyone anonymously lists any topics they are completely and utterly uncomfortable with showing up in the story and would not like to be even IMPLIED, much less shown (examples include Sexual Assault or Suicide), as well as topics they're okay with being in the story but only under special circumstances or offscreen (such as "sex should only be fade-to-black" or "torture can be done by bad guys, but not good guys, and definitely not by players"). The former is known as Lines, like a line in the sand not to be crossed, and the latter is known as Veils, something that can be present but is obscured from view. Note that, if you discover a new trigger, the Lines/Veils list can be updated at any time, no questions asked.

The X-Card: If something happens in session that makes you the player deeply uncomfortable and is making the game unfun for you, play the airhorn sound on the Discord soundboard (note, this is a modified version to accommodate people who go nonverbal under stress, this may be different than how you'll see it elsewhere). At that moment, the game pauses, and we discuss (either out loud or texted) what went wrong, and then brainstorm ways to rewrite the scene to no longer include the trigger. Your needs will be valued and we will pivot, no questions asked.

Session Zero: Before the campaign starts, we'll all meet up in a voice call to discuss expectations, go over safety tools, brainstorm about campaign hooks, brainstorm about how our characters know each other, and anything else people want to discuss before the campaign actually starts. We may do Session Re-Zeros right after major plot changes, where we meet up again out-of-game to discuss how everyone's feeling about the current situation and discuss any changes that might need to be made. Anyone can call for a Session Re-Zero at any time, though, if you know something needs to change (such as if you'd like to change characters).

The exact hour schedule of this campaign is something we'll discuss as a group, but the baseline is 10:00 am CST on Saturday mornings every week. Kind of like Saturday Morning Cartoons, but, like, Saturday Morning TTRPGs. Still the same vibe of starting off the weekend with some fun, cereal and pajamas welcomed.

This will also be an online campaign, using Discord for voice and text chat and using a free character sheet creator for...well, character sheets. If the GM would like to add any other programs, that will be up to them, though it should not be anything players would have to purchase.

If y'all are interested, message me on Discord under the username MoonstoneRaven, and send me the answers to the following questions:

1.) Who are you, in a nutshell? Name, age, pronouns, any fun facts you'd like to share/things you think we should know.

2.) Are you looking to be a player or the GM?

3.) How experienced are you with this system, or with TTRPGs in general? Remember, new players are welcome, so no pressure

4.) What is your favorite thing about Star Trek?

5.) Do you have any Lines we should be aware of?

6.) Do you have any Veils we should be aware of?

7.) What would you really like to see in this campaign?

8.) Does the start time baseline of 10:00 am CST on Saturday Mornings work for you? If not, what time on that day would be best?

I can't wait to get to know all y'all!
