Holloway University – what kind of place is this

A private university with four large campuses on the southern coast of the United States, overseen by four Founding families. Young in years but ambitious in scope. The architecture is mixed: classic red brick, new glass-and-concrete buildings, fragments of an old fort and port facilities. People talk about Holloway as a quiet, elite institution. Reports, forms, and etiquette are the norm. Funding comes from donors and trusts. In the press, the university is linked to port facilities, clinics, and environmental projects. Scandals don’t come to light – or quickly sink under paperwork.

Story

What happens when the heroics are done, and the next generation takes the reigns? In a world like Faerun, the work of heroes is never done, there is always a new and bigger threat. What do you do when your family is in the business of saving people?

This was the story we started over a year ago now, the children of the Heroes who saved The Sword Coast from the Absolute. 100 years after the events of Baldur's Gate 3, how has Faerun changed...

The answer? Not by much, it turns out. There is still danger around every corner.

While we are set in canon, we have plenty of homebrew stories!

- The Goddess of Creation, corrupted by Karsite magic, gone mad with rage who wants the world to be 'reset'. How do you kill a goddess? Can she be saved?

- A cult masquerading as a Thieves Guild, who steals from the gods themselves.

- Power struggles among the courts of the Feywilds

- The Cloakwood while well known, is as of yet under-explored. A popular Heiress from Baldur's Gate has recently married a commoner, a former thief who escaped the cult and now has a target on his back and hers by extension. They have rebuilt a castle in the heart of the cloakwood, protected by sword and magic alike, hoping that if they surround themselves with powerful allies, they can escape fate long enough to dismantle the cult. Do you think you have what it takes to help them?

- Neverwinter's monarchy died a century ago ...right? But why is the Lord Protector still alive, and what does that weird frozen clocktower have to do with any of it...

FAQ

• How are we verifying age? We use a bot that checks for this using machine learning. No human has to interfere here so you don't have to worry about being doxxed.
• Why the age restriction? We're all adults here, and we roleplay as such. I do not want anyone to have to dial back their writing for a bunch of kids. We have blood, guts, and sometimes explicit content (behind it's own dedicated role/locked threads). I am not going to risk any minors slipping through the cracks. For our sake, and theirs.
• What is the pacing like? In recent months we have been a bit slower due to a turnover with the previous group. IRL nonsense, basically. However, at our peak we were having rapidfire responses most hours of the day in a given roleplay, and I would love to see us get there again. Though slow roleplay is also okay (within reason.) Though generally myself and my DMs will be checking the server daily, throughout the day.

Crystal War (CW) is a Discord Server which has been created for a West March styled campaign. The setting is a homebrew creation and is one where nearly anything is possible. The games follow a guild called "The Crystal Council," which all players must join. We are looking for more players to help fill the guild and create a good, friendly and fun community. We don't require players to have any experience with Dnd to join. Anyone is welcome whether you're still new and exploring Dnd for the first time or an experienced player. The games we run follow a larger story. We are very role play friendly, with a section in the server for text role plays. Often backstories are used to help world build and build the the setting.

The guild has defeated an Archdevil and an artifical god hence why it's name is wide spread throughout the land. Recently, there has been a shift in magic and strange towers began to rise from the depths of the earth across the material plane that house the Ley Lines which now flow above ground. The land of Crystal War has taken a strange turn due to these Ley Line Towers, with strange beings coming out of the cracks of this universe. Additionally, events surrounded in chronomancy have also been seen and reported to the guild as no one knows what is going on. The guild now searches for answers and prepares themselves for another threat that may be lurking on the horizon...

We use the DnD 5e 2014 rule set and accept all official books for character creation. We are welcome to ideas and homebrew as long as it has good reasoning, in character, and is approved by the DM. There is a section in the server for homebrew stuff that has already been approved.
Player characters start at level 5 and we use a point based system for leveling in which, after each session your character gains points and you level up from those.

Games are generally ran on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm GMT (BST when the clocks change) but games will be ran on different days depending on DM and Player availability. Sessions generally last for about 3 hours and will rarely exceed 5 hours.
We use discord to communicate over a Voice Chat and roll in the server. Voice chat is not necessary to play, as long as you can join the VC and listen to the DM talking you're more than welcome to just use text chat. We also use Owlbear for battle maps to help visualise what is going on.

We are a D&D 5e Discord server featuring a persistent game world set in the Forgotten Realms and broader D&D multiverse. You and other players play as adventurers of the Hawthorne Guild, an adventuring guild in the Sword Coast. As a persistent and shared game world, character progression and events in individual adventures persist between and outside of games, creating a living world for players and DMs to participate in the form of oneshots, multisessions and campaigns, and both text roleplay and Play-By-Post games. With over 8,500 sessions ran over the course of 8 years, you and other players can dive in to determine the next chapter of your character's story and the guild's story.

Play How You Want

As a player on the server, you can expect to:

• Play any number of characters starting at level 3 or level 5 (your choice)
• Create characters using almost all of the official options as well as select Unearthed Arcana and server homebrew

We are currently seeking Dungeon Masters (DMs) and Roleplay Assistants (RAs) to bring the Cosmic Citadel to life! As a DM, you will craft and run missions, shaping adventures that range from small skirmishes to grand interplanar conflicts. The Citadel acts as an extraplanar force that takes contracts to eliminate nuisances across the planes, maintaining balance in the multiverse. The nature of each mission is up to you, allowing for flexibility and creativity in storytelling. As a Roleplay Assistant (RA), you’ll breathe life into the Citadel by creating and playing NPCs. Whether as a waitress in the mess hall, a merchant selling their wares, a mysterious traveler with cryptic tales, or a dedicated steward of the Citadel, your role is to enrich the world and enhance immersion for players. While we appreciate enthusiasm, we still will want to make sure you are a good fit for the community before giving you DM status, So please make your character and be present in the server so we can tell ^^

Gameplay & Ruleset

Our server primarily follows the 2024 D&D 5.5e ruleset, while still allowing content from the 2014 edition, including classes, subclasses, and races. We pride ourselves on not banning content, though we may make balance adjustments as needed. We use a milestone leveling system based on hours played in a game, with an additional 1-2 bonus XP awarded for outstanding roleplay, clever tactics, or exceptional execution of a plan. The Cosmic Citadel is designed to seamlessly integrate player backstories into the world. Players can request DMs to run sessions based on their character arcs, or they may explore their stories through freeform roleplay. DMs are also encouraged to weave in story hooks, create NPCs with their own agendas, and subtly introduce future missions through in-game interactions.

Please note that our server is focused on the EST time zone, and we aim to schedule events and sessions around this time zone to accommodate the majority of our players.

*But!* We are definitely looking to expand into the other time zones! We do have several people who are from the UK time zone! Would love to have more people willing to DM in those zones.

We use Roll20 for our tabletop sessions, Dnd Beyond for character sheets with Beyond20 integrated for all dice rolls. We only do Live Sessions! We do not host Play By Post quests.

The premise of the server/adventure:

The Immortal mythical turtle dragon Yuis has been killed. The magical barrier protecting his shell holds an entire continent, rich with mysteries, resources, and danger. As fleets of ships head north to the now dead ancient turtle, the need for brave adventurers is greater than ever. As you join the fledgling town of Irving, you will be asked to help establish and protect the town from the dangers of the newly discovered continent. The town grows, more outposts are established, and as civilization creeps towards the center of the continent, will you discover what killed the impossibly old creature? Or will you suffer the same fate as Yuis?

Community Description: Legends: Night City is a Living Community server that boasts a persistent version of Night City with our own lore. Player Characters can freely participate in sessions run by different GMs, interact across the server, and develop their own stories.

The focus is on player-driven narrative and character growth, GMs each running their own gigs, and all contributing to the same evolving world. Character choices and personal victories all shape the social fabric of the city.

We are a small inclusive play by post discord server that mainly focuses on Dungeons and Dragons 5e. Members are welcome to post their own games or apply for one of the ad's posted in our ads channel.

What is Play by Post?

It is a text based format, where you post when you are able. In many games people are in different time zones so it keeps everything rolling smoothly.

Our Games:

Blades of Obsidian [5e (2014)]: Bit of a wild west for character creation. A great place to try out characters/ progress quickly. Go on one shot missions with other guild-mates or just goof off in the guildhall. Either way it's a good time. Volunteer DMs also welcome.

Server games: You can host your own on server game with other members! Occasionally we also run games of Pathfinder Mork Borg and others, including D&D 5e (2024).

The City

25 years ago at the turn of the millennium, the world was struck by an unprecedented disaster that would shift humanity's trajectory towards the strange and bizarre. A large hole in space and time opened in the middle of New York City, causing Earth to collide with an alternate dimension known as the Otherworld. Overnight, the city of New York was destroyed and reconstructed as The City in the Mist, more commonly shortened to The City. The Otherworldly mist that envelops The City both seals it off from the outside but also causes anomalous phenomena to manifest on the regular.

Vampires & aliens & demons, oh my!

All things weird and wonderful exist in The City, and in the 25 years since The Collision, they have become commonplace for the people who still live here. From witch covens to sentient chess engines, almost anything can exist within the bounds of the fog walls. Though the American government does their best to maintain a semblance of order, they often find themselves in over their head when dealing with the routine calamities that terrorize this brave new world.

Libra, a private agency specializing in clandestine operations concerning the supernatural. Recently hired as a field agent for the elite "Libra Balance Team", it is your job to resolve all manner of anomalous phenomena, all for the sake of "enforcing fair play", whatever that means.

Aboard the Phantom Stranger, the only train coming in and out of The City, you arrive at Grand Central station for the first time, filled with a mixture of nervousness and excitement for your new job.

What we are looking for: Hi, The City is a small west march-ish (More on that later) game set in a fantastical version of modern day New York. Think X-files plus SCP plus Dresden Files plus Chainsaw Man, and so much more. With mixes of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, cyberpunk elements etc., there is something for everyone here in The City. However, due to the nature of the often graphic content and sensitive material that is presented, we do require all members to be at least 18 years of age. We are looking for new members that are committed to the game, who love storytelling and roleplaying. There is currently only one DM as such; there will be an application process to keep the numbers manageable.

Game System: Don't worry if you aren't familiar with The City of Mist as a system, our group generally plays very rules light and mostly use them as a framework for a collective storytelling experience. There is almost nothing to limit your imagination when it comes to character creation or in game actions.

How we play: We generally play using discord VC in a theatre of the mind style, but we use FoundryVTT for more important combat encounters. Dice rolls are done through discord using the Avrae bot, and there are also RP channels for downtime RP on the discord (Although they haven't really been used yet). Early I mentioned west march-ish, that is because the game is not entirely sandbox and has many linear narratives that run between sessions. The rotating cast of players take part in somewhat episodic sessions while all embroiled in the same conflicts and stories.

Schedule: The schedule is flexible, but most games take place at night (EST) either on Friday or the Weekends. Depending on the availability of players, this can change.

Hello, everybody! I'm C.T., and I have a Discord server dedicated to exclusively running one-shots/few-shots, for anybody who wants to try out new systems or who just aren't able to commit to full campaigns. The server is still fairly small, and is open to new players and GMs of any experience level alike!

Our current GMs run the following at least somewhat frequently: - Alien - Call of Cthulhu - Fabula Ultima - Lancer ...with plans to run more!

In addition to whenever the other GMs can run games, I try to run something every other week or so, so there usually is a game available to sign up for. We also occasionally play board games and wargames on Tabletop Simulator :)
