Today marks week 4 on 5mg Lexapro with 50mg Vyvanse, and for the most part, I love this med. I am so much happier and my mom has mentioned seeing a difference. But I am starting to feel some irritation, especially at small things. It’s almost in line with the irritation I would have pre-Lexapro. Also, during the past week, I struggled with random bouts of anxiety (physical and mental) that were hard to snap out of. The anxiety was better than my usual spirals, but still difficult to navigate.

I am meeting with my psych this week. Would it be reasonable to increase? It’s hard to tell if I need one or if I am still in the early stages of symptoms. Also, how is the 5mg to 10mg transition? I am starting a new job, and I don’t want to deal with too many symptoms. Thank you!

EDIT: Now thinking about it, my Vyvanse might be the culprit, but I am unsure if increasing Lexapro would help that 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • 5mg is a fairly low dose, they say 10mg is the lowest therapeutic dose but I have seen lots of people on here get benefit from 5 so who knows. I took 5mg for four weeks and only noticed a little bit of improvement, so I went up to 10mg about 2 weeks ago. There was some initial increased anxiety but over the last couple of days I have been feeling a lot better. Still not 100% but I do think the 10mg was the right move.

  • I just saw your edit and was gonna comment, it may be the Vyvanse. I mentioned it to my doc and she kinda made a face and went ehhhhhh. She's not the biggest fan of it with Lexapro (I don't fully remember why, sorry 😭) so instead I'm on 15mg of extended release generic Adderall. I'm still in the adjustment phase for the Lexapro, only a few days, but my mood has improved a lot to the point my boyfriend commented on it, and my friends. The Adderall for me completely removes most of my irritability. I still have a bit from the increased anxiety adjusting to Lexapro though, ngl. But it's a different kind of irritated, if that makes sense
