I have seen it used like OP, as an extension to a ladder, and (I think) a ladder on its own

    13 points Morningxafter

You can link a few of them together with those bent mechanical arm pieces (30377) to make a collapsible ladder.

    parent root
    5 points morbiiq

Yep - there’s also the ladder hooks you can use to connect as well

In the hundreds of sets I've built I've never seen it used like this, only as a ladder or fence. I'm surprised too.

Another fun fact: This articulating brick can also be used to create minifig legs!

    parent root
    11 points Matches_Malone77

It’s crazy how perfectly they fit. They should really systemize all these bits of plastic.

    Wait, say that again

Y’all are busting OP’s balls, but I legit didn’t know that piece went in there ¯_(ツ)_/¯ been out the lego game bout 25 years and just started getting back into it with my son.

I’ve just been using that bar piece for railings and gates and other random tube/bar-ish things.
