Why tank support builds are so weird? Locket, Redemption, Zeke's? They don't really make you survive longer. I'm playing Leona and building Sunfire first then adapting to the enemy team damage patterns.
Sunfire is too expensive and the benefit of waveclear is worthless on your champion/role. No support should be building the item, honestly.
Feel like you're looking at it the wrong way - you're underlevelled from roaming and sharing xp, and don't do damage. Why do you need to survive longer? You won't anyway with how valuable levels and gold are, but regardless it's not your job. Items like Locket and Redemption definitely do make you survive longer too, both in actives and base stats... but again, not really the point of the role.
Well I only go Swiftplay where supports earn noticeably more gold than in Normal and Ranked. I just hate the piano that your champion becomes with Atlas, Locket, Redemption and Knight's Vow. Four active items and a sweeper. I'm not a Dota player, no thanks.
If a tank like Leona doesn't survive in combat for long then what does she even do? Just apply CC? You can do that from a safe distance on Nami and on top of that heal your allies. So what does Leona bring to the table? It also applies to Maokai, Braum and Tahm Kench(is he even a support?).
Yeah I mean that's just how the game is. Not sure how else to put it. Every role has a sweeper/orb and a pink ward and probably an active item. They've been slowly getting rid of them since players are bad with actives still, but that's a part of the game. League and Dota are both the same genre for a reason.
If you were going to buy a 'real' tank item to start off with, Deadman's Plate is bought on a few champs (still too expensive to be common) but actually good for the role to play the map. I would recommend it over Sunfire in any scenario. Thornmail could also be alright if the enemies have a lot of healing.
And, it's not that Leona doesn't survive in combat, just not in the manner in which a traditional tank from another role will - levels and gold are just too important. Support tanks do generally have very strong in-kit survivability like Leona W, Braum W, TK E, etc that are temporary so it's not like you're getting blown up like a Nami would be, but you won't be relevant in a particularly extended fight.
The general difference between something like Leona and Nami is the ability to directly engage and/or disrupt in teamfights. Nami can CC from a distance, but also dies quite easily. You can't check low-vision areas on your own against a significantly higher cast of enemies, and if you misposition you can die instantly. You can't block enemy skillshots with your body without dying, and you can't typically engage a fight without putting yourself in a bad position. You just can't zone enemies the way you can with a tank and just generally have less tools to make your own active decisions, instead empowering your teammates to do so themselves.
Is there anywhere I can find all champion specific augments for arena?
New to League, me and some buddies have enough to have a full squad. I have been chosen as the bot lane, is it better to pick someone marked for bot lane or can I just find someone I like and play them?
Playing normal 5 mans, you can play whatever you want, but it might stint your game/learning experience if you don't at least pick something that does damage, preferably at range. Something like a tank wouldn't work very well generally.
I came back to lol after a while and can't find a site I've been using to help me with builds/runes etc.
The site listed different champions and it was possible to filter by region and lane - and it showed if the player playing, for example Lux - mostly played her as supp or mid or something else. Most sites I know of don;'t show this straight away and I have to check more thoroughly to know.
it was somewhat dark/red I think? anyone?
Porofessor, Mobalytics, OP.gg, Blitz, Probuilds, U.gg, LeagueOfGraphs, etc. There are so many.
The only site that I can think of that's red is Blitz?
Can you still get the End of Season rewards if you start ranked at this point?
I read that you need to win 15 ranked games for it, but my winrate upon finishing the placement games is 0%. I didn't play League at all this season up until a couple of weeks ago.
You have a week to win 15 games, so yes - that's the only requirement.
As a newcomer to ranked(lvl 100)...is it normal to play bronze-silver elo in flex with friends against bronze who are actually emeralds, diamonds and masters in solo?
This happened over and over again. Its really unenjoyable...we are trio...every 2nd game is bronze rank flex whos actually a guy that has like 5 games in row with 20-30kills because he is Emerald 1 getting lanes vs actual silvers while hes playing flex with friends(who are usually really silvers) - seems like elo boosting rather then "playing with friends".
Isnt this against tos, to purposefully get low flex rank to get easier matches? I cant believe Emerald 1 guy gets bronze in flex ranked.
flex rank requirements are much more loose when compared to soloq. I've been in a flex game that had a master, diamond, emeralds, and rest in gold and silver. I think it's quite universally understood that flex is for fun with your friends, while soloq is what you play for a true indicator of your rank.
i want this seasons victorious skin and it says i have to win 15 games! ive now won 16 (lost 12) and the rank progress thing says 13/15? is this a bug or what do i have to do?
have you restarted your client?
Yeah, ive restarted a couple of times... it's pretty weird!
I rarely see Phase Rush picked in mid lane, is the rune not good? are there cases or champs where it's used?
In general trading runes; electrocute, comet, airy, etc… are better for gaining and leveraging leads in midlane. Phase rush is great for certain champs (Vladimir) and situationally for immobile mages, but often it’s not worth it because you’ll be too squishy to benefit anyway.
i dont play much ranked, or rift at all for that matter, but phase rush is typically more useful on champions who need the mobility. if mid lane is currently being dominated by hypermobile people, phase rush loses it's usefulness because they can take other runes. it also depends on how strong dark harvest, electrocute, and meteor are at the moment.
m hardstuck in silver/bronze since 2 years ( since i started playing this game), ive never improved or gotten better by that definition and id like to change that, ive watched like 10vids of skillcapped about Midlane (main role) and stuff like that and it didnt help so now i feel "forced" that i need coaching, so my question is where to get good and cheap-ish coaching?
No offense but paying for coaching at your level is only pragmatic if you have money to waste
Fundamentals, awareness (fog of war, placement of champs, objectives) last hitting (csing)
Outside that, you might be trying to master too much at once, pick a few champs and really get to know them
Watching others play at a high level will also help you, drastically
Hi everyone, I just became re-interested from a short break (I left a few weeks after Kallista's release lol) and I was thinking of playing again. I understand it would be impossible to ask for a short summary of what's been updated since then, but is there a site that goes over current meta and jungle routes? Everything is so foreign to me, what the hell is a champion shard? I'm so lost lmao
https://mobalytics.gg/lol/tier-list
I think this should help.
A champion shard is just a consumable that can unlock the champion for you so you don't have to pay the Blue Essence (formerly known as Influence points).
Thanks so much friend. I'll try and figure out the other stuff through osmosis, I appreciate the help!
Will the Heavenscale skins come back for purchase soon? Weren’t they a new years thing? Also I hope Riot make more of them!
they're a chinese new year thing, meaning they'll probably be back around then.
Sorry to latch on to someone else's question, but it's relevant.
if heavenscale are chinese new year, what's the mythmaker line? will it be back too?
there's lots of cny skinlines. mythmaker, lunar beast, firecracker and heavenscale are all part of the lineup so i'd assume they'll all be back in the store at the same time.
ahhh. gotcha. thanks!
Ty
Are we (bot lane + support) still supposed to be leashing for the jungler?
I was under the impression that's not our responsibility now, due to changes in either jungle or early bot lane?
But, I periodically still see ADCs leash for the jungler at their first buff and when I recently told my ADC they didn't need to do that and they should come to lane, I was told, "wow. Imagine getting flamed for helping my team." which suggests I'm *way* in the wrong here?
No, leashing has not been a thing for a couple of years, it's just a remnant of how the game used to work. The game has changed but people have not adapted.
If you leash you forfeit any chance of early prio since enemy gets to hit the first wave before you, and you also reveal your junglers starting position.
Speaking of old timers, is there a guide that shows modern jungle routes? I literally just picked this game back up after having quit when Kallista was released, and I'd like to not be functionally useless if I'm forced to jungle.
Sorry friend, jungle is my worst role and I have no clue about actual routes
No worries, I'll keep looking, thanks anyway!
