I don't want to make this sound like a rant, but I believe Riot has dropped the ball on the quality of voiceovers and lore covering champions overall.
I recently played a bunch of Zaahen, and then I went back to a champ I really enjoy, which is Xayah.
It is honestly appalling to see how little voice lines Zaahen has compared to a champion that was released 8 years ago. He has one taunt and one joke, whereas Xayah has something like 6-7 different taunts. She reacts to items you buy and whatnot, he doesn't at all.
I am aware these are little things, but they are what made me appreciate champions and playing them. Now everything feels...I don't know, soulless, in a way.
It makes me feel like there is no love or passion in the game, only a product that must keep the company afloat.
We peaked at Tahm Kench
Aatrox rework for me.
His existential crisis rants mid game are so peak, even if a bit cringy
I will never not laugh at Aatrox's voice line to Varus about his name not having two A's in it.
"There was a memo, Varus, there was a memo!!"
I frequently quote this with Vaarus teammates
I’ve seen the light of a thousand suns, but now how can my purpose be anything but dark?
Zaahen: "Skill issue, try just being better at everything like me"
Aatrox: "Mastery? I must congratulate you, obviously your parents never had reason to."
Aatrox VA is an absolute masterpiece. Just perfect.
I love when I'm playing and he randomly screams "This cursed form… This crude decaying flesh! I loathe it!"
Call me King, call me demon, water forgets the names of the drowned is living completely rent free in my head.
The only sin is to deny a craving
i think Kindred is one of my favorites.
That era had so many extra voice lines and care, from like ekko/kindred/ornn/tahm to the end of all the reworks, swain, yorick, akali, irelia, morde etc
That era in general was their best and most creative imo.
They also tell stories based on your death screen timer
The only champion i tried hard to learn because of lore and her voice lines, i dont like her kit, i dont know how to jungle, but because of her, that became my main role
i played her adc for a good while and it was alright. there was a chall kindred adc on korea or something i believe
Tahm Kench's voice lines are *chef's kiss*. That southern gentleman demon energy with all the little threats wrapped in politeness? Perfect.
I feel like somewhere along the way Riot decided quantity of champions matters more than making each one feel like a fully realized character. Like they're checking boxes instead of actually crafting something memorable.
Nah Kled is peak
i remember when people would buy ashe's project skin because they dont have to listen to a frejlord lore dump whenever people play her lmao
praise to the volibear, praise to the forst phoenix, let them guide my people to safety, avarosa let your bow strike true our enemies so they die with their eyes open, let us not dwell on their deaths, for they died so we can unite as one people. the coming of the storm is here, and Freljord will unite, let me also mention every deity , legend and political group. like my husband tryndamere, who i married. our marriage will be but a stepping stone of our great nation...
Wow I totally forgot about that. I've been using the PROJECT skin for so long, you guys are right, her base voice lines are annoying 😭
It’s funny because I really like them, didn’t know people find them annoying
Probably Ashe mains.
Hearing it a couple times every once in a while is cool.
Hearing them every game must suck ass.
Not me tho, i still love my Sion lines to this day.
I remember how cool it was when I realised that Sion is only angry and yelling if you click him to attack. If you are only moving he sounds sad and introspective
I’ve played with all voice lines turned off for years because I found all of them too annoying
The lines are whatever, but when they first reworked ashes va the lines played AT LEAST 2x as much for a while there.
It was funny seeing Ashe go from generic marksman to ultra-religious that's praying like every 5 seconds.
She isn't tho. She says it herself.
"The goddess Avarosa... I say I hear her voice. But I hear only my mother's; and mourn her passing"
She pretends/acts hyper religious as she is using faith to help unify frejlord, even though she is aware the goddess does not speak to her and she is deeply hurt by her mothers passing(rather than thinking she is in a better place or whatever)
holy shit this is golden lmao
"What is it to lead? It is to lie. It is to preach caution even when you are elated. It is to give hope even when you feel none."
If you play ashe a bit you get that she is basically a cynic for everything except uniting the frejlord. And a lot of her preaching and calling on gods and tradition is purely with that in mind.
That has more to do with Ashe being bland and boring in her lines than having long lines as a bad thing tbf.
Honestly even the exact script for her VO she currently has would be much better if it were all delivered with a more grave tone.
This. She delivers every line as almost a call-to-arms cheer, when with a lot of it she is solemnly letting you know the truth of what it is to lead.
Have you seen the interaction when you're Aatrox and see Zoe? Brother goes on a full tangent
Full tangent? Isn't the line just "ASPECT OF CHANGE! NOW YOU DIE!"?
Which, imo, chills. The VA cooked with the thousand year simmering rage.
"I know it was you, trickster! You gave them the tools to trap me! Come, let me kill you! A thousand times isn't enough!"
wait people complain about champion interactions?
People complain about everything, unfortunately.
Yeah when ashe got her vgu they recorded a ton of dialog, people hated it. The pendulum swings the other way now.
Her lines were pretty generic sadly. Nothing spicy like Swain.
He lines are just not great and feel very natural. The problem of voice lines is that you're going to hear them hundreds or thousands of times, so minor issues can seem magnified.
Goomba theory
I am not complaining. I think its funny
Honestly I kind of agree with Aatrox. Killing Zoe a thousand times really isn't enough.
Ok but Ashe just sucks. I've had friends try out league and onl complain about Ashes voicelines. There's a middle ground between every other champ and Ashe.
LMAO Ashe was actually the reason I muted champ voices altogether. Girl would literally not shut up, man
I did so for lux... Girl's laugh made me want to powerword suicide
Lux laugh. MF laugh. Battle Academy Caitlyn laugh is just so egregious, I spam it after every poke.
Battle Academy Ezreal
Watch this. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
and then there's battle academy ezreal who sounds like he's taking a very hard shit when you spam it
You've yet to experience Nunubot spamming his laugh the entire time he's in your field of view. You will learn despair.
Milio's rrrrraou! Lulu's and Nami's laughs, Kog's marching noises, Teemo's ctrl 3 spam, Garen's ctrl 1
Try them:>
Riot butchered my precious Zombie Brand joke scream spam :(
Also Kai'sa's (I feel weird typing her name like this) ctrl+2 AAAAARGH
Yeah Lux and Lulu were the other candidates but I'd usually just mute them at the start of the game for that reason anyway. Can't exactly mute myself. Thanks Ashe 😂
Leona is like that. Not sure if it's just certain skins or not. But she just will not. shut. up.
Man I want to mute Irelia so much, she just keep going on and on about her family, like ok we get it but you're supposed to be hitting stuff now
To be fair that's due to the crazy length of the voice lines, not due to their variety. She just speaks like 5 fucking sentences at once
People bought it because it felt better to play not because of VO reasons (unless you're talking folks you know having recently done that)
Her VO update was in 2019 and Project: Ashe came out in 2016
Wasnt that mostly because of the difference between the AA fron base and Project (and later high noon).
They feel smoother which was mostly the reason.(Spiritguard udyr was exactly that aswell).
Yeah, I feel like Project Ashe was more popular than original ever since it came out. Updated voicelines which started the whole Ashe monologues happened way later. I'm sure there were people who bought the legendary skins because of the annoying voice lines but I don't think it was the main reason. Legendary skins are just better.
Shouldve seen the release champs that had like 7 voicelines total
You will lose.
ROCK SOLID
my right arm is a lot stronger than my left arm
Yea, Alright, Okay
I wish riot would give him an audio overhaul and just double the amount of voicelines that were synonyms for "alright"
Singed has more skins than he has unique voicelines where he actually says something (not counting grunts and laughs).
Mix, mix, swirl, mix.
Just play Malphite or Cho'gath if you want to know how it used to be lol
the sunlight, it buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurns
Isn't it daylight?
Been using Gentleman Cho for so many years that I barely remember his base lines (but that skin is so old that it isn't much different)
I was there those days, it was the standard though so nobody complained.
Then you should also remember every new champion having "a dark and mysterious past"
Having blasts from the past rn
People said that champions talked too much during the time of ryze, swain reworks with 20mins of voicelines, so they stopped doing it
The only champion I've ever thought spoke too much was Ashe.
Irelia…
THE PLACENTA
I really do be rememberin tho
Old Irelia had way less voicelines. They did kind of go overboard for the LITTLE RUE voicelines you get when you chain Qs
Ohn, Zelos, Kai, little Ruu :(
Avarosa
Playing Xayah with Rakan on your team is pain.
Also THROW ANOTHER ROCK and other such endless prattling -- I think I remember Zoe never shutting up when I played against her, but I can't remember.
Zoe not shutting the fuck up ever if half the reason why I find her so fun
I love him but Pantheon
So.. instead of making voicelines less frequent they simply started adding less altogether? Which is even worse because you now hear the same 5 lines
Yeah it’s a bit dumb
That's like nintendo scrapping story mode in the switch Smash Bros bc someone leaked it.
That's not dumb though, that just made them put all efforts on trailers instead.
I think you'd have a hard time convincing anyone that making more voice lines while also making them happen less frequently is a better decision than just not making as many. Especially so when money is involved.
Nobody ever had a problem with a champion having over 30 move and attack lines. Or special encounter or taunt lines. Or special item buy lines. It was specifically the "Long move" lines where they just say a long paragraph that people starting complaining. Which are even more annoying when they repeat than any normal lines.
Now every champion has 1 or 2 lines for every ability. And a single joke, laugh, and taunt sound. Compare champions like Karthus or Sion's lines for each ability to any newer ones. Jax should not have the same amount of taunt and joke lines than he had in 2009.
Aatrox's long move lines are some of the best VA I've heard in a game, and a not-insignificant chunk of why I love him so much. His VA absolutely kills it with every line.
It wasn't even long move lines, it was lines on every ability cast.
Nidalee/Camille/SG Rumble/irelia all wouldn't shut the fuck up since every button they pressed was/still is a voiceline. Camille wasn't too annoying her voice is soft, nidalee was and still is cringe and they actually fucking nerfed it by giving her voicebox a cooldown, SG rumble is the same as always.
Feedback: I don't like hearing the same monologue all the time. Riot: So what you are saying is you don't like voicelines?
Straight up bs excuse for cutting costs.
These decisions are exclusively made based on user surveys and data
That's what they say but if they really wanted to cut down on voice bloat they couldve just spaced them out and make them repeat less.
Some games have a voiceline frequency slider, wish we had that in league, I'd slide it all the way up
I’m a Ryze main and I love how chatty he is
I do too
Proof?
Last I remember it was because Voice Lines would break a lot on PAID COSMETICS like Legendary Skins (it would break a lot for Fiddlesticks in particular) and people were actually complaining they purchased skins and new voice lines were a part of the reason why they purchased.
So instead of fixing it Riot just started releasing champions with less and less voice lines over time as well as starting to quietly remove interactions they couldn't fix.
Riot devblogs/rioter videos iirc
I could see that I guess. They also used to give voice lines for a lot of things that could be changed or dropped. I think a few of forecast Janna's voice lines aren't relevant anymore iirc (could be wrong cause I don't play Janna).
Some items could be removed so item react lines could go away.
And kits can change. Yuumi lost several voice lines when they removed her ability to tp with people I think.
Tryndamere and Kassadin share the same voicelines for both moving and attacking champions yet OP is not talking about them... #nooticing
As you wish.
These are the remnant of the summoner's era right?
Yep. Old Morde had a few too ("you only need to click once, fool!") but nowadays only a few still have them (Kass, Malphite, Cho'Gath and MF I think?).
I still remember Akali's "so many noobs, will matchmaking ever find true balance?". I wish they kept that in the game
Other ones I remember
"Mundo thinks you a big sissy" "Drown in pussy" "Here mousy mousy" "You're nothing but a whisky delta" "Is that a rocket in your pocket" "Are you sure you're not in the wrong league?"
I think you mean "Don't get Pushy" lmfao. That's Gragas' line, he doesn't say pussy 💀
Maybe they watch SloppyWalrus
YOUR SKILLS ARE INFERIOR!
Pretty quaint I guess. They could easily not have that. Seems intentional to leave them.
Does sona still have the "only you can hear me summoner" (ish) lines?
Sona got a new VO a while ago, she does not anymore.
Boooo...
Her VO update made her come off bratty and conceited. Pretty disappointing how consistently they give characters some snarky attitude.
Characters like Janna and Sona are supposed to be gentle protectors, yet now Sona complains about hecklers and how she doesn't like certain stages every 3 lines. They just turned her into Seraphine Lite.
Sona canonically used her ability to have people dance in unnatural way, leading to tearing muscles fiber and breaking bones.
cant forget about brolaf "Yo, summoner, summon me like two... no, six hot chicks, stat!"
Nocturne as well. "Do I scare you, summoner?"
Well that wouldn't fit OP selective choice of champs
Honestly, some champs have such good voicelines and/or variations it's insane. I play Katarina and I hear about how amazing violence is, and how her enemies are guessing 10 times a match.
Then I swap to Aatrox and suddenly we're ending worlds, immortals chasing death, cleaving down hope as a concept, it's insane. Feels like a full ass character I'm playing versus just a model with a few lines.
I think other than Aatrox, a few bangers are Pantheon "For every defeat I ran around the mountain until even shame could not keep up", Kled "Holy shit where are we", Sylas, Evelynn (when buying items), etc.
The sheer quality of their voice acting coupled with how many lines they have and what situations play them is incredible imo.
I main Kled for quite some time now and I still sometimes crack a smile when the game loads in with „Holy shit where are we“
Kled is in the top three for voice lines.
This is why I can't switch off of Battle Queen Katarina. I prefer her talking about schemes and the majesty of her blades than her base VO's violence etc.
Oh I say this as a Katarina main. even with Battle Queen the lines feel a bit limited, so I ended up just swapping to whatever skin I think looks the nicest at any given moment (honestly she has a ton of good ones).
Aurelion is another good one. He has a bunch of really fun lines (like when he tells the shopkeeper to charge Pantheon instead of him).
Kai’Sa counting her kills is pretty fun too.
Disagree on lore (I dislike Zaahen and hate what they did with Xin Zhao, but the rest of the recent releases were pretty cool), but 100% agree on voicelines. It's genuinely insane to me that people were complaining about champions talking too much
I agree that voice lines are a bit lacking recently but saying there's no love or passion put into the game is a big stretch imo
I was about to say, zaa hen is such a thematic difference between the other darkins and it's literally xin zhao lmao
That's a huge lore dump
In this exact thread people are still complaining about champions talking too much, so… yeah :-(
Zaheen always feels like a fanfic.
"Actually he is super strong and as strong aatrox but also not corrupt and he is way cooler than your character and he helped sonic save the world!"
I kinda miss when they don't mention the second person's name, like today they really sound cornball to me
Yeah they all have the same formula like "[Champ name], blah blah" or "blah blah, [Champ name]". It's just lazy lore writing
I get you, but Ambessa's "Ughhh Draven" is just chef's kiss
Meanwhile lore is at its strongest point in like 5 years.
EDIT: Guys pointing out individual champs that don't have strong lore doesn't change my statement. For the past half a decade lore was nearly non-existent. If y'all really think 2020 Riot was putting out better lore content then so be it, but none of the problems you've listed are new.
Strongest in years does not equal there are no problems... But also do y'all want Riot to write stories for 176 champs or make a good video game? Like I swear sometimes y'all just shift the goal posts for the sake of staying mad.
The actual lore content we get is high-quality, but it’s a bit too laser-focused on specific regions right now.
Arcane went in-depth on PnZ (while also leaving out the majority of PnZ champs and obliterating their existing lore) and the recent seasons gave us some nice Noxus and Ionia lore, but beyond that we don’t get anything. Shurima’s in a weird lore stasis, the Freljord’s just kinda there, Ixtal and the Void might as well not exist, and it doesn’t look like that’ll change anytime soon.
I miss the height of the Universe era where we’d randomly get stories from different regions just to show there’s life there. It could be Rumble hanging out in Shurima, Lux fighting Nocturne, or even far-past stories like Where Icathia Once Stood. The world just feels so small right now.
To be fair, they're deep diving across Runeterra now, and approaching different regions every season. I imagine they'll get there eventually. I'm pretty excited for a Void deep dive.
Bilgewater so forgotten it doesn't even make the 'forgotten lore' list lmao. The last big thing Bilgewater got was when GP 'died' 10 YEARS ago
?
Bilgewater is the focus of the Ruined King game lol
Pyke release also had some stuff
how could you forget The Boys and Bombolini????????
"Bilgewater so forgotten it doesn't even make the 'forgotten lore' list lmao." What are you smoking
Bilgewater has a whole live action show in development. If Arcane is anything to go buy, they will milk it to death, so no its defo not forgotten...
Really? We have the most content, but it’s spread over countless timelines/AUs. We have the LoR timelines, arcane universe, base game universe, whatever the Ekko game was and more. We get new champions, but they don’t progress the lore. Instead they take other champions’ lore and relevance. (Mel replaced Rell, Zaahen is suddenly the most powerful darkin, etc.)
IMO lore was at its strongest when arcane S1 dropped and we had the possibility for riot to actually try to unify all relevant lores into a single coherent universe.
they can't do that cos they went back and fucked up a bunch of lores of existing characters so to unify it in a "coherent universe" they would have to basically retcon most of arcane
Or they can retcon everything else to match Arcane.
Lore was floundering when S1 dropped. There was a drought as riot only put out champ bios and short stories that went nowhere. The retcons caused by Arcane are annoying but riot didn’t give a shit about lore for a long time before Arcane showed people wanted it.
The lore isn’t that hard to follow, but it’s not without its issues. P&Z champs that weren’t in arcane are in lore limbo. LoR can still mostly be considered canon with a few errors like time traveling Cithria. Arcane isn’t a seperate canon, it’s the new starting point for current canon. And the ekko game just isn’t canon. Even when it came out it had flaws that made it hard to consider canon. We have no idea wtf happened there.
Sorry for the rant, just as someone who’s been a fan of league’s lore for like a decade I get annoyed when people pretend that there wasn’t a lore drought pre-Arcane because riot didn’t care.
💀
When the lore is dispersed between games, novels, cinematics, TV shows and short stories where you have to get someone on Reddit to instruct you on what’s canon, then the lore is unreasonably hard to follow.
It mostly died due to S2 imo. For S1 people still had a lot of headcanons that would somewhat still make the old lore work (like changing the timeline of Camille/Renata, Orianna etc.), then S2 threw everything out the window.
Arcane season 1 was already incompatible with LoL and LoR lore
LoL & LoR: Magic and mages everywhere
Arcane: Magic doesn't exist
That still can be explained by the fact that magic doesn't exist in the more "human" region like Piltover and Zaun. For what we know they just aren't exposed to magic enough to believe in it.
I thought they said in S1 the reason Piltover had barely any magic is cause it was banned when the city was founded to get away from the havoc caused by mages
They did but P&Z has always been the least magical region with only Seraphine and Azeri being notable mages. Even the yordles there use more machines than magic.
tbf using arcane as the single unifying lofre point was a pipe dream since arcane differs a lot from the in game lore
Arcane universe is canon. The moment they added 2 chars directly from it and reworked Viktor then that was that
i disagree. a lot of champions are left in lore limbo after the arcane canonization, like camille. aftermath, one of my favorite short stories, is still on the site but no longer listed on xin zhao's page. i do like some of the new things, but at least for now it feels like an unfinished home renovation with some nice additions but some character stripped from the house.
hard disagree. I think making arcane canon was a terrible decision for one, the show is cool but obviously wasn't thought out to be a part of the larger LoL continuity
Because it wasn't supposed to be. They said pre-s1 that it would be a separate canon, then it got immensely popular and they backpedaled on that decision hard.
It feels like the entire universe gets retconned every 18 months and only like half the champions are even on the current continuity by the time that happens.
Camille and Seraphine stuck in limbo isn't what I'd call strong.
They've just hamfisted Arcane lore into the main Runeterra canon and all they're doing now is playing whackamole with inconsistencies as they crop up (or eliminating entire sections of story entirely).
The new champions and stories they choose to tell are still fairly solid and I am genuinely interested in how they'll handle the Demacian season
Yup, as a lore guy I've been reading all the comics this season and its been goated, hope they sell them one day. Can't wait for the upcoming season.
That's because in the past you could have champions like Gragas, and now everyone fits the beauty standards of the Chinese player base; all the champions have the same harmonized face to the point where it become impossible to distinguish splash arts.
Word, Corki, Gragas, Cho, Singed vs Akali, Kai Sa, Ahri, Ekko etc.
It’s pretty clear they’ve gone for the beauty route or cool factor
I agree so so strongly with this! I love the voice lines characters play. They add so much character! I've always hated that, when you get a skin in a different theme, your character gets an identity crisis and doesn't realize that this "super serious and evil lady" is currently serving in a sweetshop and now it's happening to normal characters too. I seriously care and I wish they'd put more care and love into it but it was literally the first thing they cut soooo... I doubt it :c
League lost its soul a long time ago lol. Game doesn't have the same charm.
Not only that but sometimes they fumble so hard with the overall story progression
We get an eye of twilight who is not shen so i dont even know if zaheen has anything to say to him, doubtful they bothered giving shen new lines
The Yorick being MIA for the entirety of sentinels
Yes,im still salty lol
I recently came back. What stuck out to me is how monetized everything is. I'd say League is well into its money extraction phase of its life cycle. People seem to forget Tencent owns Riot. Tencent cares about returns and growth. The evolution of this game into a soulless money making machine isn't accidental. I think the only way you'd see effort put into voice lines is if it's on a legendary or ultimate skin, but man, even those have gotten lazy these days. Don't even get me started on the new bullshit gacha skins. The Lucian skin is literally a reskin of high noon, but it's created solely to milk whales. I mean obviously they're making money off these things, that's why it's only getting worse.
You're 1000% spot on with this
Yes...that's what mythic variant skins are. They are variants of existing skins. That's literally the entire point
Not only that, but the average skin has gone significantly down in quality as well. The reason you feel a lack of passion in what Riot produces is because it doesn't have any being put into it. Individuals at Riot certainly do care, but they are at the behest of a deeply greedy, profit-driven corporation. The people responsibile for making league what it is today are mostly laid off or retired from the company and it's entirely infested by business people telling game devs how to do their job with a focus on maximizing profit instead of quality or player satisfaction. Why work hard to make the game excellent when they could put 90% of their effort into making $200 skins that make them more money than even high quality ultimate skins ever did?
It's the case with every game that survives this long and has this many people involved in it's production. Riot is not a studio selling a game anymore, they are a company extracting profit from users in the most cost-efficient way possible. If they can get away with writing less lore, paying for fewer voicelines, paying less developers, and making worse skins.. why wouldn't they? Eventually the frustrations pile up and people will be against this, but until that happens Riot can show investors a lot of impressive short-term gains and improved profit margins and that is really all they care about.
I'm aware, comrad :'(
I also found Zaheen's voice utterly... generic. Compared to Aatrox? Who has SO much character and life in his voice? It's a direct downgrade. He's generic boss monster man voice where they take a voice and multiply it. At least Viego has an accent and flare.
I do think it waxes and wanes though. For every Fiddlesticks you have an Aurora. For every Aatrox you have a Zaheen. For every Naafiri you have a Yunara.
Zaheen in general seems kind of lazy considering its more or less just "what if we took OG Aatrox's old kit and made it not suck". To be honest though I think I'd be content without any new champions. I think they'd do fine just to catch up on reworks and visual updates. If they do continue to pump out champs they sort of need to recognize the amount of effort to make a champ striking and unique goes up proportionally to the number of existing champs. They're gonna have to put the effort in or its going to be immediately noticeable.
I haven't played him, so idk what his voice lines are, but to say that they didn't put effort into his content creation is a bit disingenuous. The studio that produced Arcane produced his entire visual rollout. Maybe that's where the budget went lol
No effort? Perhaps not. Notably less effort than other champs mentioned? Oh, absolutely. And I'd prefer to blame a lack of invested resources and time on Riot's behalf than accuse the artists of being incompetent. This is a poke at management, not the creative staff. For example, I am convinced thats why season 2 of arcane was so horrendous. That was supposed to be like, three seasons worth of tv slashed down into one with a cut development pipeline.
me thinking xayah is one of the newer champions lol
XAYAH WAS 8 BOMBOCLAT YEARS AGO!!?
Voice actor strike. This may not be entirely Riot's fault and it impacts far more than video games.
The voice actor strike is the reason why legendary skins lacked voice acting for half of this year, but it's very much not the reason why voiceovers got shorter overall. If the VA is on strike you get 0 voicelines, not half the voicelines
The game lost its souls years ago when they anime-ified it and disney-fied it. I can tell how there is no passion anymore but each champion is designed for maximum easy profit. Soon it'll feel like playing Mobile Legends and its indistinguishable roster of identical-looking cute anime girls and edgy anime boys.
The last time I was excited for an update was Naafiri: I was surprised to see they still had some of that creativity. But every champion after that.... I didn't even play once.
Zhaeen looks like the character of a cheap Asian mobile game.
People complained about the sheer amount of old voicelines, and it's hard to justify having 6 different taunt lines when most people don't taunt 6 times, ever. Item voicelines also fell away because it's time, effort, and money that might be wasted if those items were ever reworked or removed.
I'm ngl the item reaction voice lines are just annoying if you play the character frequently and build the same items most of the time. Hearing Taliyah go "Ooh, belts!" or "These boots were made for weaving" the 500th time gets very old and doesn't really add anything
i genuinely forgot i had turned off champ voicelines for the past decade. Hearing the last hit gold is bis, but I'll turn them on to see what's this about
The reality is that most people (including me) just don't care or even find it annoying, so it doesn't make sense for Riot to spend time on these things. Also, there are a ton of champs that have had the same voicelines for 15 years, so talking about a "decline" is a stretch. Shaco literally has had no lore for over a decade.
I will never forgive riot for the Ezrael VO change, they absolutely massacred him
booba make money, nothing else matters
Given enough time thats what all products become. The original creators with the passion are all gone and the people left are just there bc it's a job. They werent there from the begining to see it grow so there's no reason to have that passion for it.
Well you have to consider that they aren't only working on one game anymore, and not to mention the amount of money they poured into Arcane and the upcoming shows they also promised.... Almost like League is expanding to more than the MOBA 😂
Part of the reason why I love qiyana. Her voicelines!
man it's part of the reason i love heim so much haha. i thought he really only had a few (i just don't pay attention, to be frank) and when i looked him up... by golly he has tons of voice lines lol. and it made me appreciate him even more :'D
Unfortunately, the majority of the player base just doesn't care about that stuff. So much effort goes into making a character like Xayah that just isn't appreciated by the general player. They put waaaay more effort into skin voice lines though, which you have to pay for, which well, is pretty obvious why.
heh
