At first I thought it was just a cool commitment to lore and I thought that none of the feetless champs could buy boots. So when I first played nami, I wouldn't buy boots
I have played league on and off since season 2 and i literally only just found this out about Cass last week when I got her in ARAM 😂 i thought people were just trolling up to that point
Huh.. been playing since the days of yore, well before the second Morde rework to give him the new ult and even the first rework as well, and I never knew this!
Today I was playing ARAM and noticed for the first time that Kassadin no longer needs 6 abilities cast close to him to activate, now the abilities cast close to him only reduce the cooldown by 1 sec.
How does it work exactly? Do the towers in your lane and your team's levels affect your team's minions? Or the enemy team's? Is it a snowball mechanic or a handicap mechanic?
I believe it's based on the advantage a team has. So it's a double edged sword - the lane auto-pushes more easily, so they can apply more pressure, but it means the enemy gets a lot more minions to farm within the safety of their side of the map.
Annie basic attack range of 625 is the second highest base attack range right behind caitlyn’s 650. Her basic attacks hard out range things which is hilariously unexpected from the fire girl
Her attack speed multiplier is way too bad for her to get any meaningful auto attack damage.
Source: used to play all kinds of APCs as auto-attackers in bot. Oriannas autos feel amazing though
The real tech back in the day was Annie support. When she had ridiculous base stats and range people would just pick her into botlane and bully out the opposing AD with autos
This is a relatively recent change, it used to only be a passive. At least for me... i remember when they'd release like 3-5 champions a month before it became slower around Shyvana's release...
His r is like 0.5 seconds and relatively obvious when they'll cast it. He also points his hammer at you and it's very different to his other abilities as well
Crit damage is a stat that all champs have. A global game rule determines critical damage at 175% of a spell's original/base damage (like an auto). Critical damage bonuses increase this percentage additively, so 175+40. Ashe passive is the same.
AFAIK no (innate or otherwise) multiplicative crit damage scaling exists in the game. The numbers would become absurd incredibly fast.
ERM actually you aren't counting xp lead (solo kills is by far the most insane xp generator) and if you actually solo killed your opponent 3 times you would have built a bigger gold and xp lead because of denying resources and getting plates on top of the gold and xp from the kills themselves. So solo kills are actually insanely valuable
This is being pedantic for no reason. The point of the comment is obviously to put into perspective how much gold value CS/Tower Plates have by comparing them to gold generated by killing enemies. It isn't saying literally that they're equally preferable
He didn’t die, MF blew up his ship and everyone thought he was dead because he was missing for a few days (and how would anyone survive an entire ship exploding). He did lose his arm though (and now he wears Deadman’s plate)
Garen q cleanses slows, was wondering for a good while why Garen performs well on paper agains Nasus. Turns out you can just click q when Nasus uses his w. Been playing since season 7.
Gnar's E gives a good bunch of attack speed for a few seconds.
The embarrassing part about this is that I was a top lane main between 2014 and 2016 when Gnar was possibly the most picked champion up there, or at least against my picks.
I laned against him literal hundreds of times, and only learned this in 2018.
A few days ago I figured out that hitting the Q on eve makes her deal more damage on her next three attacks, always thought first Q range was high just to give you an easier time proccing her charm, turns out it’s very important to hit.
I’m struggling with this, is there a key that you can spam while right click moving to only attack champions? Or does it just hit whatever is close? I know you can toggle champs only but then you still have to right click them while kiting correct?
Yes, she is the younger sister. I only find this out after checking the Japanese voices, and hearing Alune calling Aphelios older brother spooked me so bad I had to check the wiki.
I have played rek since i started the game ( 1 year ago lol ) and i discovered just 4 months ago that your ult mark reveals enemy champs when you burrow
Once I was in the bot lane and I went to leash an Ivern jungler.
Me and the support hit the red buff and Ivern didn't understand anything...we were left with low health and blamed him for losing the bot lane. Later I found out we messed up.
I am a mid main but occassionaly play bot. One of my fave champs to play on bot is jhin. But I never paid much attention to his passive and how his damage exactly scales. I knew about that AS modifier buffs AD but I never knew that his 4th shot scales with missing enemy health and also with crit chance. That's important because it is more value to do Q -> 4th shot than the opposite.
Gwen can be hit if your inside her AOE invincibility thing. I main enchanters so I dont usually interact with her and the whole thing confused the hell out of me for ages.
Took a while to learn how kled's w works. I thought it was an active ability for a while but nope. It sure would have made laning against him a lot easier because knowing how it works makes it a lot easier to wait for him to use it on minions.
Lucian can cast any ability during E animation. I used to main (almost one trick) him during one or two seasons, always knew that E->W or E->R comes out surprisingly smoothly, but always assumed it's some sort of animation cancel. Found out that you can cast Q during E only very recently, by accident.
Took me a year and a half to realise darius passive only gave ad at 5 stacks and did not infact work like conq where it gave same ad at each stack. (i was emereld btw)
I used to spam miss fortune W on the way back to lane thinking activating it was giving me move speed. Only to realize way later it passively does when you're out of combat.
Aftet 250k mastery points on kayle, i realized i could ult myself or someone to prevent lifesteal based champs form healing, not only to prevent damage
Not champion fact, but for the longest time the little atakhan flowers around the map, I thought only went to the player that attacked them. I've gotten mad at teammates for taking them from me, and sometimes I'll ping them for my teammates if they were behind in level so they could get some XP
playing xerath for 2 years, i didn't realise you can cancel R to avoid wasting extra shots and it will refund some R cooldown. i'd always just use the extra R to get some random jungle vision if there was nothing else to hit
Imagining poppy E being untargeted and her bashing herself full force into the wall hitting no one is as funny as that one clip of poppy support waiting with her adc in bush level 1...
I didn't know that you could recast Anivia Q to stun the enemy until one of my friends pointed it out in one of our ARAM games. Before that I thought that you needed to hit it at the end to stun (max range of it) and always wondered how people were stunning others with it at such a short range. I didn't know this for 2-3 years of playing League.
I played when Varus came out and his W was just an passive then at some point years later they gave it an active that buffed his Q. I played games with him after that for like 5 years without ever realizing it did more than just the passive
One time I thought a Cassiopeia was trolling because they weren’t buying boots
Report Cassio no boots
15 MINS CASS NO BOOTS ICANT
At first I thought it was just a cool commitment to lore and I thought that none of the feetless champs could buy boots. So when I first played nami, I wouldn't buy boots
When you play Elise remember to buy 6 boots
I've never played Cass and I have people ask me if I main her because I tend to sit on t1 boots for 20m when I play mid lane
TBF it used to be possible to buy boots on her.
Its coming back with the new season
I mean technically she should get them at 50% off.
just a big snake
rollingslitheringtrotting around in 1 giant shoe. This would be a hilarious April fools skin.
There used to be a pretty well known pic of Cass with a boot on her head as a joke about why she needs to buy boots.
I think I remember that pic lol.
Old school LOL had so much more content than today.
I have played league on and off since season 2 and i literally only just found this out about Cass last week when I got her in ARAM 😂 i thought people were just trolling up to that point
Thinking that everyone who played cass is in on some inside joke about not buying boots is actually pretty funny ngl
tbf everyone who plays [role] ranked is on some inside joke about deserving to climb but being held back by their [jg if not jg/team if jg]
Im reminded of the webcomic lol
This is actually pretty funny tbh
Not being able to wear boots is her superpower
When people are in Morde ult, the size of the spirits change with their health.
I had no clue and played morde for some good time
I mean, in your defense, you're never gonna see this as you'll always be in the ult.
Huh.. been playing since the days of yore, well before the second Morde rework to give him the new ult and even the first rework as well, and I never knew this!
Today I was playing ARAM and noticed for the first time that Kassadin no longer needs 6 abilities cast close to him to activate, now the abilities cast close to him only reduce the cooldown by 1 sec.
What the fuck no way I didnt know that when did they change lol
Also was not aware of this change, played since season 4 lol
Patch 12.23
lol I noticed a few weeks ago! Been playing since season 2 so that was strange
Only 0.75 sec 💔
Minions gain dmg amp and damage reduction based on which team has more cumulative levels.
Also depends on towers destroyed on lane
How does it work exactly? Do the towers in your lane and your team's levels affect your team's minions? Or the enemy team's? Is it a snowball mechanic or a handicap mechanic?
I believe it's based on the advantage a team has. So it's a double edged sword - the lane auto-pushes more easily, so they can apply more pressure, but it means the enemy gets a lot more minions to farm within the safety of their side of the map.
Well TIL. I no longer play more than 50 rankeds per year but still good to know.
Annie basic attack range of 625 is the second highest base attack range right behind caitlyn’s 650. Her basic attacks hard out range things which is hilariously unexpected from the fire girl
Adc Annie incoming
Annie's autos feel so fkn weird trying to adc her is disgusting.
Source: I've tried
Her attack speed multiplier is way too bad for her to get any meaningful auto attack damage. Source: used to play all kinds of APCs as auto-attackers in bot. Oriannas autos feel amazing though
Orianna has one of my favorite AAs in the game it's a shame I suck at the rest of her kit
Adc Annie was played when I first started back in 2012. It wasn't meta by any means but that range mattered.
AD Leblanc toplane.
The real tech back in the day was Annie support. When she had ridiculous base stats and range people would just pick her into botlane and bully out the opposing AD with autos
You joke but many, many seasons ago people would go ADC Annie and bully people with her range!
Nope Support Annie! That is also why it was nerfed to 575 back in May of 2015 until like 2018ish
May 2015? Riven player PTSD intensifies... that's the patch that gutted her wind slash projectile speed, isn't it?
Back in early seasons it was normal to start dorans blade on her and auto other mages out of lane
It makes laning against her as a melee feel so fucking weirdly oppressive.
galio base dmg
What?
I didnt know about his w, its so much better if you turn off the fast cast or whatever its called.
Why's that? I just press and hold w.
galio w i see it more like dmg reduction while playing tank while standard build yeah i see it as taunt
Can you enlighten me how turning off smart cast makes it better? (You can hold w to channel it, even with smart cast)
Played Yasuo recently. He doesn't get a powerspike at 0/10.
Did you try 0/11?
You must have not been Level 7
Powerspike is at 2/10 not 0/10
You need to kill someone 1 kill per 5 deaths untill powerspike
Did you farm?
Not me but my friend was like mastery 8 varus and didn’t know his W was an active
This is a relatively recent change, it used to only be a passive. At least for me... i remember when they'd release like 3-5 champions a month before it became slower around Shyvana's release...
Looks like his W aktive was added in patch 8.8, about 7.5 years ago.
Time really flies
Jesus
Like banana?
Took me about 2 years to realize exactly how powerful "Unstoppable" is.
As a Sett main, it turned Mordekaiser from one of my worst matchups to one of the easiest (as you can R when he R's to negate it)
Doesn't that require a pretty fast reaction, or is the visual indicator for Mord's ult way earlier than I realized?
Morde’s is pretty easy to time compared to most
The more you play against Morde, the easier it is to predict and react to his R animation.
You can usually tell when he walks up to you and he extends his arm and mace
It's the sound for me. He also slows the shit out of you on initial cast, which tells you to hurry up and respond.
But really the important part is to predict it like you said.
His r is like 0.5 seconds and relatively obvious when they'll cast it. He also points his hammer at you and it's very different to his other abilities as well
Same. Didn't realize how insane it could be until I started face tanking Zoe bubbles and Ashe arrows with Vi's ultimate.
Don't Zoe bubble still make you sleepy?
They do, but you can ultimate just before the sleep pops to ignore the actual CC part.
That would depend because you only get the remaining CC time after your ult animation is done, so you might be able to dodge the entire thing.
So fun fact: Tristana can buffer Morde's ult, and jump out of it's boundaries.
You're still "in" the death realm, but if you jumped far enough, you will be outside the boundary and unable to be hit by Morde because he's melee.
Souce: I'm a Tristana OTP who has accidentally done it once, and have been chasing that high, ever since.
Didn't know Jax could still attack during E. Is pretty counterintuitive
When spinning lamp, you smacc when it comes around.
he would do a lot more if he had a real weapon
The realest weapon is the one you know how to use best (points knowingly at lamp)
Me too
I couldn’t do shit on him because of it
Same with hecarim q not affecting his autos
My best friend has been playing since season 1 and just learned that ashe crits work differently
Tbf it has gone through multiple changes
Its changed quite a bit yeah. My brain still says build crit = do damage
Crit does increase her damage, but she doesn't *crit*. Its just a AA damage multiplier
Yup. Think for a minute her "crits" did an extra slow and extra damage based off crit chance on the initial rework, now its just an aa modifier.
oh, I forgot about the slow. Yeah, she still does extra slow on """crits""" but there's no damage increase
How does IE work on her then? Does it just increase the multiplier by a flat% or does it multiply the whole thing
So many people still play on hit ashe and they end up doing no damage. Same with tri force smolder.
He’s outgrown it, but there was a time that not having Sheen on Smolder was trolling.
To be fair, she was reworked. Back when I started playing in 2011 Ashe was my first champ and I often times revert to that old thinking.
Didn’t know Annie and Amumu got the same voice actress
Taliyah, Zoe, and Morgana also share theirs!
and Fiddlesticks and Freddy Fazbear!
Very surprising to hear, they sound nothing alike
I think for me it was the value of cs. For the longest time I focused on kills or ganks. You can win 80% of games just by out farming your opponent.
Blew my friends mind when I told him being up 2 plates and 30cs was essentially being up 3 solo kills in lane.
Low elo: "kills good"
Average elo: "but bro you gain same xp and gold as farm just win by farming bro it's so easy bro"
High elo: "kills good"
This is being pedantic for no reason. The point of the comment is obviously to put into perspective how much gold value CS/Tower Plates have by comparing them to gold generated by killing enemies. It isn't saying literally that they're equally preferable
The commenter is more like: just farming is better than losing your resources to try and solo kill them.
Level 2 spikes go hard. It took me like 2 years after I started playing to really get that concept.
You learn that shit real quick in the top lane lol
2 times quicker in botlane
Getting level 2 before opponent as Riven was basically always first blood back in my day.
I play briar since the beginning, she my favourite jungler
I didnt know her w reveal the closest enemy nearby
That Gangplank died and came back or tricked death in some way, still don't know his lore
he passed illaoi's trial or something that let him live right?
I see you weren't around for them disabling Gangplank in the actual game because he died in lore.

I laned against him literal hundreds of times, and only learned this in 2018.
Not something I learned late, rather something so ingrained as a support main from S2 onwards that I STILL do it.
I start moving erratically whenever Zyra dies near me to dodge her post death passive shot
A few days ago I figured out that hitting the Q on eve makes her deal more damage on her next three attacks, always thought first Q range was high just to give you an easier time proccing her charm, turns out it’s very important to hit.
On all her damage actually, Q marks pop whenever she hits any skill (more commonly the Q spikes, but E, autos and I think R pop them too)
attack move keybind, it's a massive game changer specially for adc. i was playing adc for so long while right clicking people.
I’m struggling with this, is there a key that you can spam while right click moving to only attack champions? Or does it just hit whatever is close? I know you can toggle champs only but then you still have to right click them while kiting correct?
I bound it to my left click. It made it night and day difference for me autoing correctly
How did you bind it to left click ? It's like my game refuses to bind anything to left click.
I think its a toggle checkbox somewhere in the settings, not a keybind that you assign.
there's an option to have attack move target whatever is close to your cursor first somewhere
Great for 1 on 1 kiting but playing with Vayne in a teamfight makes it useless for consistent W triggers
Not really, it's close to cursor not close to Vayne so you just have to hover on / near the champion you wanna hit. Same as right clicking.
i have it on space bar and love it there
I've binded attack move click to my side mouse button. Having moving and attacking bound to different keys also helps imo
You would be surprised about cassiopeia
What's the tech with Cass?
Right click one location then spam E on enemy will make you auto kite.
Holy shit
That Ashe and Tryndamere are married.
IIRC, Ashe was actually named after Ashley Merrill - Marc "Tryndamere" Merrill's wife.
I think there is a good amount of players think that Alune is the older sister.
No way. I am one of them. Is she the younger sister?
Yes, she is the younger sister. I only find this out after checking the Japanese voices, and hearing Alune calling Aphelios older brother spooked me so bad I had to check the wiki.
I just learned like last month that there's a cap to the resists you can get from Aftershock. I started playing at I think early season 9...
There is? What's the cap?
Its written in the tooltip, scales with level.
Didnt know you could kat r into a bush with no vision. Then learned you could morg r and several other things
Morg R also works when invisable units enter range. So helpful if your laning vs a pyke or twitch or jungle eve shows up
On kaisa, you can skip her immobilizing ability upgrade animations by spamming your e right after upgrading it (takes some practice to nail timing).
Also, you can cancel the upgrade animations by clicking on the recall icon (learned it from Upset)
You can also start recalling to cancel the animation, but the timing is pretty tight
Warwick W can proc on monsters with Q W at the same time...
I only discovered this at like 170k mastery points on the damn champ and it helps with Jg clears a lot.
I had an emerald friend who mained taric for a month and they didn’t know taric ult applied to everyone in the circle
I dont understand how you don't even accidentally find that out while playing him for that long.
Like not a single teammate wandered in to one of the two bubbles in any of those games?
I have played rek since i started the game ( 1 year ago lol ) and i discovered just 4 months ago that your ult mark reveals enemy champs when you burrow
Usefull to ult after flashes
Once I was in the bot lane and I went to leash an Ivern jungler.
Me and the support hit the red buff and Ivern didn't understand anything...we were left with low health and blamed him for losing the bot lane. Later I found out we messed up.
It took 10 years for me to learn that Garen W gives him tenacity...
Why the fuck did they give his E tenacity?? When did they make the change. Unless you meant W
Sorry w auto correct
I am a mid main but occassionaly play bot. One of my fave champs to play on bot is jhin. But I never paid much attention to his passive and how his damage exactly scales. I knew about that AS modifier buffs AD but I never knew that his 4th shot scales with missing enemy health and also with crit chance. That's important because it is more value to do Q -> 4th shot than the opposite.
Zilean's ult doesn't last 7 seconds anymore. Didn't notice that until about 10 years after the change.
aatrox passive does magic damage
Gwen can be hit if your inside her AOE invincibility thing. I main enchanters so I dont usually interact with her and the whole thing confused the hell out of me for ages.
[deleted]
You gotta be some type of ARAM only player otherwise this is legit unexplainable, the whole map shakes and changes based on 3rd drake 😭
Took a while to learn how kled's w works. I thought it was an active ability for a while but nope. It sure would have made laning against him a lot easier because knowing how it works makes it a lot easier to wait for him to use it on minions.
Lucian can cast any ability during E animation. Found out that you can cast Q during E only very recently, by accident.
So many baker jokes... yet Pantheon canonically cannot bake to save his life.
Kai'Sa evolved E (if timed correctly) can cancel Nautilus R and some other point and click channels
Spreading positivity, saying "well play" or "its ok" is more fun and satisfying than complaining and blaming when something goes wrong
scry plants make any wards they reveal go down to 1 hit point lol
This is only on the chemtech rift, all plants get upgrades.
Garen can cleanse slow with his q. Just learned it this year and ive been playing since season 7
Who expects garen players to read anyway
Im not even a garen player lmao. Im just confused as to why garen is just still fast when im slowing him with urgot q.
Lux ult triggers passive damage.
That illaoi is a woman
Me with Ekko. I thought he was a woman for 2 years
What? Why?
Lol I don't know, i thought she was a really punk butch
(plus I come from overwatch where echo is a "female" character i guess?)
Fair enough I guess. Guess you never heard him referred to as “the boy who shattered time” lol
Me with Taliyah, she always looked like a boy to me.
You really should buy the jungle item. I tried to skip it, dont do it.
Took me a year and a half to realise darius passive only gave ad at 5 stacks and did not infact work like conq where it gave same ad at each stack. (i was emereld btw)
Took me like 3 years to realise that old fiddlesticks ult wasnt a point and click
Gangplank Barrels will chain regardless of health
That Mel is disgusting champ
I thought Katarina was free to move after cast her ulti ... I started to play in 2014, a classmate from uni in 2017 scold me about that error.
tbf samira got the moving katarina ult
Varus's ult can proc his W stacks. 3 aa into ult is like a one shot on AP Varus.
I learned the other day that Qiyana gets a little bit of attack speed when she has an element on her ring
I didn't know I could target ults (like Zilean or Shen) using the portraits on the right side.
Lucian has an additional passive that empowers his AA when he gets buffed. I thought it was only the double AA thing.
Not champion fact, but for the longest time the little atakhan flowers around the map, I thought only went to the player that attacked them. I've gotten mad at teammates for taking them from me, and sometimes I'll ping them for my teammates if they were behind in level so they could get some XP
alistar heals
playing xerath for 2 years, i didn't realise you can cancel R to avoid wasting extra shots and it will refund some R cooldown. i'd always just use the extra R to get some random jungle vision if there was nothing else to hit
Recently learnt that Lux ult can’t be blocked by Yas windwall because it’s not a projectile
Played since season 1. Took til season 11 to realize Morgana W healed
All of her offensive abilities do, thats her passive:)
There are just a lot of abilities I didn't know had to be targeted until I played them like Alistar W, Lucian Q, and Poppy E.
Imagining poppy E being untargeted and her bashing herself full force into the wall hitting no one is as funny as that one clip of poppy support waiting with her adc in bush level 1...
Draven w reset when you catch an axe, i've played a couple game of draven but did not know that. Makes me want to play it again.
Katarina daggers dont completely reset her blink ability
I had a few hundred levels before I realized attacking champions draws minion aggro
That Varus W has an active... 😭
