There is not much known about Donald (sitting closest to the camera), though my recent visit to a family member uncovered some new information.
A man who carried his demons with him, he had nothing to his name and spent most of time drinking and in and out of prison and mental health institutions. Despite this, it is said he loved his children and enjoyed singing the song Crocodile Shoes to them. He always wore leather jackets and liked to cut the sleeves off them, and always combed back his hair with brylcreem.
Donald's complaints of chest pain whilst serving his prison sentence went ignored. He died of a heart attack in 1976.
Edit: Merry Christmas to everyone! Today being the big day, I just wanted to let the memories of Don live on a little longer.

Not all who wander are lost- but some are. Life is a puzzle. Always.
I like how he cuffs his jeans, mate.
Cuffed jeans, sleeveless jackets and brylcreem through his slicked back hair! π
If you would want this photo sharpened, the people at the photoshop sub are amazing ( I have no idea how to post the sub link)
I will definitely check this out at some point.
Merry Christmas! π π»
Canβt wait to see the result! Merry Christmas!
Sad that there are no other photos. Limited memories of him, not many people left that remember him, no stories, no photos, a person's legacy just slips away.
We did foster care for several years. Some kids from families that had really come apart, I remember the photos some of them had. Their only tangible connection to their past. One girl ran away and left an envelope of photos behind. We tried to find her for a long time, never did.
His ex-wife (my paternal grandmother) has four kids with him. She abandoned them shortly after this photo. My dad and brother were put into the care system, whereas his younger sister and brother were adopted by other family members.
She remarried and had two more, but never acknowledged her other children. I met her once and she died not too long ago.
My dad's side is an interesting family history. It has some complicated characters and outright evil bastards.
And what about the story behind that photo?
In the full picture, you can also see my dad, his sister and his mother. His youngest brother is in the pram. This picture was taken in the mid-1960s and not long before they were adopted/taken into the care system.
This is the picture in full.
You should ask the r/estoration people for help with this.
Strange question, but wouldn't they have his mugshot? At least you'd have a clearer face picture.
There's always the possibility, but that really depends if any records from nearly 50 years ago still exist.
I also believe it's difficult to directly request information as a family member. I'm planning to look into this further.
Good idea! Only fair that his memory is kept alive no matter his circumstances. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
I'll do what I can.
Merry Christmas! π
He looks like a young Morrissey.
Just curious, why was he in prison?
He was likely in and out for theft or similar. He had nothing.
Yes take this to photoshop sub and maybe they can help you get it a little sharper and clearer
Based on time of year, im assuming you're visiting home on Christmas and this conversation came up talking to family. Keep looking, dont squint, and have a great new year.
Correct.
I felt it was a good time to try and get some info on the man, and actually see some relatives I have not seen for a long time.
Merry Christmas! π
I tried using chatgpt to unblur your photo and it gave me a wildly inaccurate photo but I still found it to be kinda nice so here's the link https://photos.app.goo.gl/pkHMi7qwEUt2ge4u5 Merry Christmas!
Thank you!
Merry Christmas! π
You're so welcome!
Hello....you
Me?
He just looks like Joe Goldberg from the show.
Looks like he still has sleeves on that jacket though.
It must have been a chilly day!
