she was also a huge scholar and managed to get first class honors from st hugh's, which she wasn't able to graduate from due to women not being allowed at the time, before graduating from the university of london with third class honors. super impressive and it's sad how she went out, but she also did a lot in life to forward the movement. a lot of people are divisive on her methods, but what you can say is that it got her point across
Wikipedia article about Emily Davison. Channel 4 documentary from 2013 about the circumstances of her passing, which was ruled misadventure. The documentary cleaned up the film of the incident and studied it closely, and their conclusion was that Davison was trying to throw a suffragette flag around a horse's neck or attach one to a horse's bridle.
I had posted an image from the Derby incident but it was deemed too graphic for this sub and was removed.
There is a character limit in post titles. I put more context in the comments as I always do, that she was probably trying to put a suffragette banner on a horse.
I find the accusation of karma farming offensive. I post frequently on this sub and in others and I ALWAYS include context in the comments.
That woman is a confirmed liar. She has said "I do not remember, growing up, having all of these race issues. I really don’t remember it." In that case, why did she sue her high school as a teenager for their failure to protect her from racist bullying? It's extremely unlikely she forgot all about that lawsuit! Was she lying then, or is she lying now? She should give all the compensation money back.
She did it as a form of public protest. OP missed that extremely crucial detail which is very disappointing, but she certainly wasn’t “crazy”, she knew exactly what she was doing and was making a public statement about women’s suffrage. It was not the starvation, it was the misogyny.

Absolutely ridiculous that she did all the work and got great grades but wasn't allowed to graduate because of what was between her legs.

I never believed that, you don't run onto a track with horses galloping towards you wanting to tie something to a horses neck
Well, in the film of the incident she had a cloth in her hand and appeared to be reaching for the horses.
I’m not saying it wasn’t a stupid thing to do.
Ok my comment was just taken down.
I was saying apparently she'd tried to (CS) earlier by jumping off a balcony and she'd been badly injured.
I know she was holding a cloth when she went onto the track but I think she was just using it as a symbol of her protest.
Strange. I can still see your comment.
Everyone should know more about the suffragettes
That's why it's upsetting when people don't want to make an effort to vote. They don't understand that people died for their rights.
And killed
Horrible Histories did a song about them.
She gave it all to have women heard.
May she rest in power.
i remember learning about her in high school, stuck with me forever. i hope she's resting in eternal peace. her legacy will never die
I never knew until maybe a couple of years ago that the incident was FILMED?! Camcorders in 1913???
When will people learn gigantic animals always have the right of way
This history seems very cherry-picked. She was a fierce proponent of women’s rights and sacrificed her life to bring more attention to the cause.
To be frank, your wording makes it feel like karma farming.

Cat pooed in my shoe is a real one! I follow them from sub to sub. I think it’s just a wording issue. 🤍
Naw
CatPoo is in no way karm farming. I’ve followed them through various subs, and always give as much context as they can while still being respectful
Why does she have the team fortress logo on her hat
She shouldn't have done that
She probably did not intend to die. They think she was trying to put a suffragette banner on a horse.
Yeah she shouldn't have done that
Watch the documentary What A Woman Is, located in the Candance Owens website.
I’m not interested in watching anything associated with Candace Owens.
Same here

Hunger can make you do crazy things. Although, many people have absolutely no horse sense whatsoever. I blame starvation.

it was a protest if I recall
Loving all the downvotes.
As if what I'm saying about her hunger is irrelevant.
Obviously she had a purpose and she did a lot. Never said that.
I dont mean to flex, but I used to do hunger strikes. My brain wasn't exactly functioning properly.
You are in no way comparable to her
We actually have quite a lot in common.
