Just a thought… Madrid is an extremely diverse place full of Spanish-speaking people from all around the world. I’d recommend you expose yourself to as many varieties of Spanish as possible, a lot of English speakers, don’t seem to get this right, and they tend to look for Spaniards instead of Spanish speakers thinking that everyone in Spain speaks the same type of Spanish. Most people I have met in my classes and outside of them are from Madrid or nearby. I just specified that I would prefer Spain Spanish because I think it would confuse me to start learning Latin American slang. Plus strong accents are very hard for me to understand! When I have fluency I will definitely speak to more people but for the moment I want to make it as easy as possible for myself to improve quickly :) Thank you for the advice!
