I'm a native English speaker who is new to learning Portuguese, only having two months worth of time trying to teach myself from various websites and videos. I have also had a little bit of experience talking to a native speaker around my age (I'm turning 20 years old soon), though me and my friend often get distracted just socializing or occassionally playing video games together and having a good time that we forget about the Portuguese side of our language learning.
I'm hoping to continue improving my abilities to speak, read, and write in Brazilian Portuguese, and being able to make a new friend is a lovely bonus to that that can also boost the fun of learning! I'm extremely patient and understanding, learning and speaking a new language is all strange, unfamiliar territory, and it can feel awkward and clumsy a lot of the time. I may not be very far along into the language emersion yet, but I totally get it, and I hope to understand the experience more and more as I slowly build my Portuguese vocabulary.
Now to share some of my interests and hobbies. I absolutely love cats! They're my favorite animal, and as a pet owner, I actually have 11 cats (half of them are technically my mom's). I also have a bird and and elder dog. I absolutely love music and getting to hear new kinds of music and songs. I love to play a wide variety of video games, and have plans to someday livestream my playthrough experiences on Twitch, as well as stream my art. I am a traditional and digital artist, and I also greatly enjoy writing stories and creating new and fascinating story and character concepts; my favorite genre to write about is fantasy. I think that if I were to pick one thing to be my biggest strength, I would immediately say that I am an incredibly creative person.
I feel like my schedule, while technically free most of the time, is still somewhat restricted and unpredictable. This is due to living with my mom, as she sometimes needs me to do things around the house for her. Messaging is technically easier than voice calling, but should I be available for it, I would love to voice call to further share the language learning process both ways. I am almost always on Discord, which is my main (if not only) form of communication nowadays, though I could tolerate using Facebook if that is preferred instead. If neither of those work for you, then other forms of messaging and general communication are up for discussion, too. I'll do my best to be flexible if it is required.
Oh, and one last thing if it makes a difference: I specifically speak American English, and while I technically am capable of writing in American English, I often will spell things in European or even Australian variants. For teaching purposes, I will do my best to separate my habits and spell everything in American English as to not cause unnecessary confusion unless it is specifically asked of me to go over the differences in spelling. Thank you so much for reading to the end, and whether you comment or not, I hope you have a wonderful day, you lovely person, you /)^v^(\
