May I recommend peruvian as an alternative to mexican? You probably already found who you were looking for, but maybe you'll want to try a peruvian later on since they (the ones living in Lima at least) often have little to no accent. I would also suggest watching translated movies since the voice actors put special effort into reducing their accent.
Well I live in an area that is quite diverse and most of the Hispanics are of Mexican heritage so I don’t see the advantage to learning how to understand Peruvians rather than Mexicans
I meant it from an academical point of view. Spanish is mostly the same wherever you go, the only things that changes are the slangs/insults so I thought you might be interested in having a mostly accent less base. There's nothing wrong with mexican slangs or accent. And for you there is certainly a practical use for learning them, I was just trying to point out you may want to try another country's dialect, also the spanish from Spain is really good if you want to study its roots tho its accent can be a bit confusing if you only know the latino accents.
