I believe, it might expand the boundaries for cultural exchange.
I see at least two problems with corporate-own software
- As a Russian-native I tried twice to get my video approved (not as a teacher but just a native) and failed. Don't know the reason.
- Teachers have to pay a significant amount of their income for bank transfers. For instance, my New Zealand teacher lives in Thailand. She have to get money on her NZ bank account and then transfer it (or use it) in another country. It's around -15% of her fees.
So why don't we create open-source software with
- searching people for language exchange (by topics to discuss, areas of qualifications and so on)
- arrange online meeting in different time zones
- make payments with crypto.
That’s a very good idea! I had it in my head for some time as well, tho unfortunately I don’t have the tech skills to make it all real. I found out that there is no proper explanation for some Russian grammar aspects depending on the student’s native language. For example, some things may be explained much easier to a Korean native speaker comparing with Korean than with English just because English doesn’t have some structures those both languages have. A pretty messy description i just gave, but the idea is cool!
I am actually been working on something like this for past 1 month, just created a basic API and frontend yet, but lol I am making it completely free
