  • Nagyon örülnék 😁

  • That moment when you're Hungarian but can't speak anything (except this children's song that sounds like it says "mokushka" a lot) because of assimilation

I'm the same! My mum didn't teach me or my siblings any Hungarian growing up, so I can only say a few phrases. Luckily she taught me Serbian, so I am still able to comunicate with family members lol

My dad was born in Hungary but his family moved to the US just before WWII and the place they settled was very hostile to eastern European immigrants (the immigration officers even forced them to change their names). So all my dad and his siblings all lost the language because they stopped speaking it at home due to discrimination and a lack of learning resources

  • Hungarian is known for being one of the most difficult language to learn (with Turkish and others). That makes me curious about it but I’m struggling with German at the moment Lol.

I visited Budapest few years ago and shot some pics. It would like to show you them. Maybe you can guess the streets where they were taken.
