Hello, I am looking for someone to talk to in Italian to practice. I speak it with my mother and recently just learned all the important grammar points but need someone I can talk to about more things than what to cook :D. Ive been speaking it with my mum for around a year I'd guess. I'm an 18 year old Maltese who is currently in a gap year which will likely become years. Im interested in music, can play a fair bit of piano and guitar, very interested in languages and different cultures. I also like to game, mostly rocket league or csgo, sometimes I play a little valorant. If this small introduction intrigues you dont hesistate to shoot a message :)

  • I wish I know maltese. I'm a german, and I have been at least 6 times to Malta

So you want to speak with me in Maltese? I'd love to hear your stories of Malta and why you like it so much :)

I wish I could speak maltese I know nothing, just that it is a very complex language, based on Arabic and Italian with influences from all over europe.

The first time i went to Malta, I was about 8. I'm 26 now and if corona is over I plan to come back again. Love the water, the history and the overall culture.

You can always learn the language, I've met less than a handful of foreigners who learned Maltese and it always blows me away. Will definitely make your trips more interesting

Do you know good materials to start?

Well personally what I would do is find maltese content to consume such a television, radio, youtube which you can all find online. There are a lot of short films on youtube in Maltese. I would simultaneously make a notebook with the grammar which you will probably need to get from books honestly, the internet isn't too clear on this in Maltese. Write everything down even the glaringly obvious things to get it in your head, write some common phrases you can find online. There are some discord communities which can help you too where you can practice speaking it if you find some people, dont be afraid to sound like a poo or else you won't learn, but warning we are very rare :D. Good luck man if you ever need anything just message me.

I know how rare it is. The reason why I know Malta so well is, that there is a distant family connection. Recently the only person we still had contact to passed and left us a house.

Wow a house in Malta is quite a nice thing, not even my family has one anymore. Sadly a lot of them are being destroyed for apartments.

I'll probably be in Malta next month

I has a garden as well.
