I'm a 19y half-Chinese half-white girl from New Zealand. My mum speaks very clear neutral Mandarin so I have acquired some understanding, but don't speak it. I want to have a language partner to chat with, preferably on Instagram with the audio text function. I never went to after-school Chinese classes so I can only write a little, but will be studying it by myself. Me and my family have gone to China once before to meet the grandparents. When we go back again, I would like to be able to speak the language.

My main hobby is writing (in English). I've written short stories and fanfiction. I'm part of the writer's club at the University of Auckland. Other than that, I suppose studying is my only hobby lol. Also listening to music and going for walks/jogs. I'm trying to write a novel but upon starting have found out my storyline is not complete.

Edit: Just did the online test by Strommen and got a result of HSK3 - Intermediate.

  • Hi there, I am a girl living in Australia, and gonna have a trip to NZ in December for Christmas holidays (getting excited about it). I graduated from Unimelb and UniAdelaide, and I speak native mandarin. I‘d like to have a language partner to help me with casual talks and culture stuff, well, cause it’s pretty annoying that I can’t get the jokes 🫠, even I got 84 for my PTE test.
