I’m (37/F) a native English speaker, with a mostly neutral American accent. I work in tech and like music, art, science/tech, and food. I can offer regular practice speaking and writing in English, help with American slang/norms or even professional communications.
I’ve been studying Hebrew for 6 months with a tutor and want to build confidence speaking, practice simple conversations, and expand my vocabulary. I can talk over video or phone once each week or every 2 weeks, and could text frequently - my writing and reading in Hebrew is much better than my speaking.
Hey, would like to improve my English and help you with hebrew Sent a dm (:
May I ask how you arranged a tutor? I've been studying Hebrew on my own for a long time and I'm trying to find someone who can help me with my speaking. But most online things are expensive.
Thanks...
I googled “Hebrew tutor [my city]” and “ulpan [my city]”. Found people who looked legit and interviewed a handful of them. I picked the best teacher who I thought I would be irl friends with.
If your city has a JCC or similar org sometimes they will offer group classes that are more affordable than a private tutor. Personally would love to do that but they never work with my schedule.
I see. Thanks. I live in a rather smallish southern city so I'm not sure this will work. But it's worth a try. Good luck with your Hebrew studies.
FWIW I meet with my tutor on zoom, so maybe look at tutors in your country vs your city. Start with general search terms like “ulpan tutor”. Some people also offer online group classes if there’s no JCC or synagogue near your city.
Edit: even look way outside your city. If you want a group classes check out https://www.ha-ulpan.org/2024-fall/
Thanks so much.
