I speak American English well, as it’s my first language, and I took advanced placement English every year it was available throughout high school. I learned some Spanish through friends/elementary school and took Mandarin Chinese for six years throughout school. I can read Cyrillic, but Russian is the most challenging as it is the only language I’ve learned independently (without a teacher.)

  • Offering: Chinese; Seeking: English. feel free to contract me any time

  • I speak Spanish, but I’m searching for Mandarin. I also studied a little bit of Russian and think I can read Cyrillic, although I often don’t know what it means :p

Cyrillic is the alphabet Russian is written in. Example: “яйца и масло “ Spanish and English have (basically) the same alphabet (the Latin alphabet) so someone who speaks zero English but Spanish could theoretically read English but not understand it.

I know what Cyrillic is, I had a teacher teach me how to read it, many years ago.

In any case your choice of languages seemed interesting and I was curious to meet you. But this exchange feels patronizing.

I am sorry; I didn't mean to make it feel that way. I misunderstood and thought you literally didn't know what it was and not what situation I was referring to.

Okay, thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it and was so sure I had explained myself clearly, but looking back it wasn’t that clear :p
