Sibling duo AKMU have officially embarked on a new journey after parting ways with YG Entertainment, choosing to go independent alongside the manager who has worked closely with them for many years. Marking this meaningful transition, Lee Chan-hyuk is set to perform a congratulatory song at the manager’s wedding in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province.
According to industry sources, Lee Chan-hyuk will attend the wedding on the afternoon of December 27th and personally take the stage to sing for the couple. His sister and bandmate Lee Su-hyun will also be present as a guest. The performance holds special significance, as it represents AKMU’s first official schedule following their decision to leave YG and continue their careers independently with the same manager.

The decision to travel outside Seoul for the wedding further highlights the strong bond and trust between the artists and their longtime partner. Notably, Lee Chan-hyuk has prepared an unusually elaborate wedding performance, reportedly bringing along backup vocalists, a saxophonist, and even a choreographer. Rather than a simple congratulatory song, the stage is expected to resemble a compact live concert.
Fans are particularly excited given Lee Chan-hyuk’s recent standout performances at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, where he showcased his creative range through stages like “Endangered Love” and “Vivid LaLa Love.” This time, his artistry will be expressed through a gesture of loyalty and gratitude, turning the wedding into a memorable event.
AKMU debuted on April 7, 2014, after winning the audition program K-pop Star 2. Since then, the duo has built a distinct musical identity through numerous hit songs, including “200%,” “Give Love,” “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love,” “Love Lee,” “Fry’s Dream,” and “Nakka.” Their unique storytelling and musical sensibility have earned them lasting popularity and critical acclaim.

Recently, after 12 years together, AKMU and YG Entertainment mutually decided to end their partnership. It has been reported that YG’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk personally expressed sincere support for the duo’s future endeavors. AKMU, in turn, shared their gratitude, stating that they would remain “YG family forever,” choosing a respectful and heartfelt farewell as they step into a new chapter of their careers.
