God she was real for that. People did too much. Still, she has never actually explained why she went back to Dr Luke so she was always gonna face SOME backlash for that. The level of backlash was extreme, as if by collaborating she was now suddenly responsible for his crimes. She was dumb for that though and easy to understand why it pissed people off.
leave honey. it will only get harder. as someone who stuck around for nine years. there’s something healing about being alone 💖 sending you all the strength
Finally, a beautiful song that shows off her vibrant tone with rock-like sounds. I have the feeling, with all the self-sabotage attempts in the video, that she's realized she's made so many mistakes over the years that have largely compromised her reputation. And the final scene with the explosion to the tune of "Woman's World" in the background is brilliant; she's realized what a huge mistake it was to produce that song and shoot that video with Dr. Luke in charge. But I actually already sensed her implicit desire to admit she'd made a mistake when she wrote that Instagram post for the anniversary of the release of "143." Now I hope people will gradually start to take an interest in her again. It will be difficult because the damage done to her image has been so severe, but with this single I have good hopes.
This is the link to the post in question. I think there's an admission of guilt between the lines, and the first image also shows Katy wearing the same white shirt and scars, just like in the Bandaids video. There's a clear connection.
FINALLY!!! She's back!! I wasn't really in to the 143 era but am so excited for this next era! Such a good video, especially the reference to Daisy. I'm so happy!!!!!!
When she sings the lines "the love that we made was worth it in the end, I would still do it all over again" and sees a daisy growing in between the railroad tracks, my mama heart felt that. What a sweet nod to her daughter! Saying all the heartache was worth it to have her. I love that I can actually relate to the lyrics in this song, and she's singing about where she actually is in life.
Haven't watched the video yet, I'm about halfway into the song but it's already better and more memorable than anything from 143. Definitely a step in the right direction! Well done Katy, keep it up!
EDIT: The video was good too, great storytelling! The part with the daisy was beautiful.
The song is good but this was a really safe choice for a comeback. There's nothing really interesting about it, it's the kind of "slower" song you would expect from Katy Perry. Happy she moved on from the 143 era and that she's starting a new, promising one tho
Sorry Katy Kats, this if another flop. She’s still stuck in the 2010’s and the fact that she’s so self conscious of her appearance that she’s pouting in every scene makes it even more cringe and sterile.

the brief woman’s world playing on the background before everything explodes… oh my god
I laughed out loud omg

oh she is BACK. This song & video will for sure be going triple platform in my home.
Comments:
- How does she keep getting into all these dangerous situations?? It's a cute concept though & ties the video together
- The rage in "it's not that complicated / to ask me how my day is" reminds me of Circle the Drain
- Her look & outfits in this video remind me of Lorelai from Gilmore Girls for some reason
- The "Woman's World" scene at the end LMAOOOOO
Lorelei! Yes she really does
This comment I saw in the YT comments tied it together for me:
This comment I saw on YouTube OMG yassss!
‘The wedding ring down the drain.
The self sabotage.
The Crumb Cafe.
The wrong turn.
The 2025 hate train.
The daisy in the train tracks - worth it.’
most important role orlando bloom ever had was to make this song possible
Love it. I will have this on repeat as I’ve had it up to here with my 20 year relationship
Hugs!

omg its sounds like a 2000s breakup song??? SO GOOD

What did she post during that anniversary?

She's so back
Mom’s back for real this time, katycats!
The song. The video. It’s all everything we’ve been missing.
Oh my god I’m going to cry this is so good 😭

PRODUCTION. The PRODUCTION!
This is CRISP. I’m very impressed 👏🏽

SONG OF THE YEAR. literally so one of the boys coded and also very much giving NRO 😭
Wow its so good! And we get a bridge!!
See that comment you guys downvoted to heck was true after all. Witness, smile & 143 were all planned
She’s back. We are back at pop.
She’s back and I am HERE FOR THIS
I love the video, I think bits could’ve been better but it’s a solid 8/10 video
The song is the best thing she has put out since 355( which was a 10/10)
I think that the song itself could be recorded stronger, I think it’ll really shine if she does an acoustic version

I'm genuinely gagged
Love this song. The video is cute too. I think it’s her best song since NRO
I'm sorry but this song is so good
Desde Never Really Over não via o grande público elogiando tanto a Katy. Muito feliz por estar vivendo isso de novo após muitos anos. 😍
Song is so good but like Never really over, GP will sleep on it. She doesnt have a good image to the masses. Which is frustrating
Smile in general was a slept on album
yes Smile has a lot of great songs. I think if she does KP7 people will treat it like smile.
THIS IS SO GOOD!! Finally a song with great production, great lyrics, a BRIDGE, an awesome video. SHES SO BACK
OMFG SHES BACK
who produces this?
Justin Tranter, Sean Cook, Russ Chell and Eren Cannata
Love Justin Tranter!
All these pop-stars seem to make the best art after experiencing break ups and trauma.

Is Justin Trudeau on the video?
🥱
