• who needs clean air, it is so overrated. at least with lung cancer you won't suffer poverty at old age

To be fair to Toyota, their hybrid vehicles in Europe have been much better than the European competition in terms of cancer-causing emissions for decades. The Europeans have been pumping out diesel cars whilst Toyota focused on petrol hybrids.

It was a leader with the Prius, but since have fallen to back of the pack on emissions. It's also the most aggressive automotive anti-climate lobbyist and largest funder of climate deniers in Congress.

That was the bigger revelation for wife and I! We'll be boycotting Toyota going forward

I'm a bit conflicted now. I convinced my husband to get an e car with solar panels because of the environment but it's with Toyota.

Now I feel less enthusiastic about him buying it because of this.

don’t be, your alternatives are the exact same

Because US automakers like Ford and Stellantis totally don't have Trump's ears...

Would never go for American either lol Not really an option anyway, very few of them are street legal here

    So... China-made, huh.

Do you have stats for Toyotas having the worst emissions? I tried to search online but couldn't find data.

This is a massive oversimplification. Toyota sells a wide variety of hybrids and plug in hybrids, not just the Prius.

They also tried hydrogen fueled cars, but the supposedly environmentally friendly governments did nothing to support those efforts. Toyota is lobbying governments to have friendlier regs to hybrids, as opposed to focusing exclusively on EVs.

Maybe you like EVs better, but Toyota is doing far more to invest in environmentally responsible vehicles, including their hybrid fleet, than you're letting on.

I remember UK's Jacob Rees-Smug stating at a hearing where he was advocating to bring down UK's environmental to the same level of India's (which are pretty awful).

When others challenged him, he responded along the lines of "what is good enough for them (India) is good enough for us (UK)".

BTW, what happened to that assh@le? Is nanny still changing his diapers?

  • I read the article but still don't get it

Toyota makes a pseudo videogame in the web portal of the company for employees, employee plays, and gets a reward for playing the game?

Exactly. A pseudo videogame that incentivizes them to lobby against clean air rules.

But isnt like a good way to scam your work? Totally deserved, like what, they will make you sign a petition or submit evidence, or will this just be a brainwash try? If it were me, I play the videogame and blab yeah yeah yeah, and then vote against it

*Lobby against clean air rules that prioritize EVs over hybrids.

  • Account is 4 years old but post history only goes back to about a month ago, and it's all about Toyota

    Hmmmmm

  • Wow, ok, looks like you have a VERY specific opinion about Toyota based on your post history.

Paid bots are a dime a dozen. More concerning is this coming straight from the Guardian.

A Left-wing rag, so no surprise that they would have a hate-boner for anything not 100% EV

  • The source doesn't make any sense, OP's explanation and replies are also not making any sense, OP is incredibly disingenuous. It's not clear how the alleged actions by Toyota affect the lobbying against clean air rules and OP is also putting unreliable source that's not even related to the topic.

  • This guy’s being paid by the ccp for anti Japan propaganda. Just look at his post history. This title is also a straight up clickbait that twists the truth.

  • Well, this is dystopian as fuck.

Can you explain how this works? I couldn't understand from the article. Employees play games.. but how is this connected to lobbying?

Basically they made lobbying for the company a game. The platform they use is probably inspired or vibes like the games mentioned but you level up by using it to lobby shit.

Yeah, you advance in the game by lobbying. It's gamifying lobbying against clean air rules.

How does that work? You send a letter to Congress then report back to the game that you've done it? I don't understand the mechanism at all.

No this guy is a comically bad toyota hater lmao, 4 years of hating is crazy work

  • How much do you make for these posts? Is it still 0.5RMB?

  • Just one point to consider (as the clean air rules are, from my understanding pushing for EVs, still in many places in the world, electricity is produced by burning fuel. Are EVs really the solution in these cases or just greenwashing? Likewise if not taking into account the production impact…

Even if electricity for charging EVs today is generated by burning fuel, they can (and has been) gradually transitioning to greener sources over time. And that is true for all EVs on the road, even ones already built years ago.

Internal combustion engine cars are guaranteed to only ever burn fuel for the entirety of its lifetime.

Also, even when electricity for EVs is made by burning fuel, burning them on a large scale in power plants is still cleaner than burning them in countless tiny combustion engines inside individual cars.

Basically EVs are greener even after putting into all the “but what about…” considerations into account.

  • What would you expect from a company whse chairman clowns for a rpist pdofile in full maga gear ftw
