We can immediately rule out the .22 because the toy cartridge is rimless. Anyways, I'd really not trust a gun made entirely of plastic for any cartridge. Especially if you're going to use it more than once.
It's hard to tell what it exactly is because there is no scale. For some reason, I have doubts whether the police actually tested this toy with live ammo. It would be freaky if this toy is like those Love Rose glass pipes but for guns.
It also caused a fuck ton of samurai to basically revolt and try to overthrow the government because they were pissed off at having their special status stripped from them.
It’s not complicated: swords are illegal. They are great big dangerous weapons whose only purpose is to cause harm.
The law doesn’t ban say chefs knives or anything practically useful, just weapons.
Those toy guns can only fire like 1 bullet and the barrel becomes too wrecked to be fired again.
So not suitable for mass shooting but 1 bullet is enough to assassinate a person.
Assuming one could even find live ammunition the thing would just blow up in your hand. Once again Japanese police demonstrating they know nothing of basic firearms operation.
In China, gun laws are strict: Anything launching projectiles with injury potential (muzzle energy ≥1.8 J/cm²) is a firearm, not a toy—so real toys like Nerf blasters can't fire bullets.
dang, those are strong plastic toys
It looks the toy is modeled after a 9mm revolver. With live ammo, the "gun" would just blow up in your hand if it's made out of gacha toy plastic.
I'm curious if the barrel happens to be rifled on that thing lol.
It doesnt take much to fire a round depending on what it is, and i didnt see, if it is a 22 then i am sure you could get a few shots off.

I missed the part about rimless, now, i am going to google what Love Rose glass pipes is all about.
there are photos on amazon,
article just says, "about 12cm in length" for the toy itself, no other dimensions
As if you can get any form of handgun ammunition anywhere in Japan.
I guess they are as dangerous as 8.5 cm scissors.
«A violation of the Firearms and Swords Control Law». The sword part kind of intrigues me.
Gotta curb the Samurais
I know this was meant to be a joke but you arnt wrong actually.
There was a law established to ban ownership of swords to basically crush the samurai class and make everyone equal during the Meiji era and this law is sort of the evolved version of that over time. https://www.ancientwarrior.co.uk/blogs/articles/why-did-japan-ban-swords?srsltid=AfmBOoron7kzvGRMNKmX3djF32ZEwfOV58SwEmBqgW3NtjZXoB5XMVP8

Also: they lost
Because guns

No way I would even think to attempt to fire live ammunition from any plastic. I'll keep my digits thank you.
A hunter's kid might.
You know Japan has 3d printers right?
Sure. What it does NOT have is 3D ammo printers.

Yup, that this is vastly more dangerous to the person pulling the trigger than anyone it is pointed at.
Uuummmmm………
